Worst Car Buying Experience Ever

by JamesDiet on 09/30/2018

A one star doesn't even do this justice to the worst dealership experience ever. I have purchased many new vehicles in my life. As someone who understands who understands customer services, I can't imagine anything worse. First off, we purchased a brand new Nissan Armada. The most expensive vehicle the dealership sells. We purchased the vehicle on September 11 and our transaction is still not concluded. Not only was the financial experience unpleasant (Eric was simply not good). Eric made errors on the paperwork that are still not completed. We wanted to keep our plates and when they tried to get the plates off our old vehicle, they ripped them in half. Our sales person was Jake. He is new but not attentive to service. The following day I contacted him to order rubber mats. He said no problem, they would be shipped overnight. To this very day, I have yet to receive the full order and to make it worse, he hasn't even contacted us back. He indicated they work going to be a gift card with the order to make up for it. That was never received. I then asked for the general manager who is Gary. On September 21, I left Gary a message to discuss our concerns. It is 8 days later, still haven't gotten a call back. My message to him was to discuss our issues before our post our review. Very disappointing. To add more to this, the day we purchased our vehicle, they did not have the second key or the valet key. I had to repeatedly contact them to get the second key. They never did find the second key. Now they shipped me a standard key which I have to bring to a dealership to get program. I quite simply can't imagine a worse experience and it still isn't over. One final thing. I froze my credit because of a potential inappropriate access to my records. When we went through the financing, they never said a thing to me about it. Rather I received letters in the mail from two separate lending companies, indicating I was denied. This likely cost me money because they had to find a lender who charged a higher interest rate. Incredibly POOR customer service!!!!!!

Whatever Happened to Russ Darrow?

by radowski on 06/23/2018

A classic “bait and switch” dealership. I called the dealership at 8:45 Friday night to inquire about two cars listed online. I was told “good news, they are both available,” and made a 9:00 am appointment with used car manager Rob the next morning. Upon arrival, we were informed one car had already been sold and the other was not ready for sale (no kidding – they could not locate the key, it had a major dent in the back door, and the interior was full of garbage). However, there were other cars we could look at….What a sad display from what we thought was a reputable dealership. It was a train wreck experience and a total waste of time. What a disappointment!

Wow! This is the dealership!

by Heyitscolina on 04/26/2018

My mother and I had just returned from another dealership where they did not assist us and we walked around for a bit. So when we came to Russ Darrow it was refreshing to see someone standing outside waiting for customers. John assisted us right away and me as a college student, we gave him our budget and expectations and he exceeded them. He was able to get us what we were looking for but better and at a great price. He worked with us to get a great deal and had a lot of patience with my family and I. If you’re looking for a dealership with great service I’d recommend this one! It really felt friendly and not pushy. Thanks!

Deceptive Internet Pricing!

by mpritch on 12/31/2017

These people will tell you anything to get you in the door. Helping my daughter shop for her first car, I specifically asked the Internet customer service rep via email if there would be any difference in price if we financed through the dealer or through a bank/credit union. The customer service rep emailed me back and clearly said "NO." When we got there and began negotiating price, however, we were THEN told that the Internet price included a $450 rebate for financing through Nissan! Unfortunately, Nissan's interest rates were higher than the credit union we had already spoken to, so it didn't make sense to finance through them. The customer service rep had also indicated that the managers "are always willing to consider any reasonable offer," but when we made an offer on the car the manager came over and started explaining, rather condescendingly, why he couldn't lower the price that was listed in the Internet ad. Overall, while we were happy with our salesperson, Lance, we were not happy with the attitudes of the GM, Robert Garcia, or the sales manager, Robert Yang. I have been shopping for used cars via the Internet for over 10 years now, and I've never been as disappointed in the way I was treated at any other dealership as I was at this one.

My experience was fine.

by AnnKFremont on 12/19/2015

Bought a certified Nissan Altima. Sales representative Fernando did a good job explaining the car's features--better than the rep from a previous dealership where we almost bought similar car. Got a newer car with lower miles than we had seen previously. The paperwork for sale was done quickly and efficiently.

Great car - NOT great service

by staplefran on 10/06/2015

It took us 3 days to purchase our vehicle from Russ Darrow....we went in the first day just looking, found a car we liked, and went home to think about it. The next day we went back planning on buying the car - and as the only customers in the store, we were denied the car. They said because we wanted to finance ourselves they wouldn't see to us because they "give priority to those who finance with them." We were told we would be called in a few weeks if the car was still there. So we walked. We received a call the next morning about the car - and after multiple phone calls and pressure from the finance manager - we were able to purchase the car - with our own financing. It took us all day and more pressure to finance with them even after we were there with our money ready to close. Lesson learned - Russ Darrow has great cars for great prices, but they will discriminate if you do not take their financing. We probably will not use them again for our next purchase - as we were very dissatisfied with the service and respect we received as buyers.

Absolutely horrible!

by Dave0482 on 06/19/2015

All levels of staff were rude and condescending. They treat their customers with nothing but disrespect. To make it worse, they will intentionally make you wait as long as possible while they disappear. It seems to be a game for them to see how long they can make you wait. I’ve never encountered such horrible customer service. I have called numerous times every single day for over two weeks to get an issue with the vehicle I purchased from them repaired, but they will not return my phone calls.

Break deal after sign and agreed, No customer respect

by jagpate on 04/07/2015

I was there for two hours after series of price negotiations I, sale person, and manager came to agree on price. I did my initial too. After this manager told he would go and prepare contract. Ten minutes later salesman came and said that since some of options (maintenance, oil change) that we all agreed on cost us money and we will not do a deal. My question is once both party agree how can you can deny? Before any one agree on anything should know what they are getting or selling. Not only that as we were walking out of building all sales person were laughing at us. Is this their attitude towards customer? No customer respect and back out from agreed price. Do not waste your time.

Terrible Experience!!

by gobadgers on 10/13/2014

These people are [non-permissible content removed]. I had worked out a price on the internet and confirmed 0% financing. We drove 3 hours to get there to pick-up our car, and suddenly the 0% only existed if we paid sticker price, nearly $8,000 more than agreed upon. They would not honor the price I had IN WRITING. As I started walking out the door, suddenly the price started falling. They even dropped the nearly $2,000 of rust-proofing they supposedly apply to every vehicle. DO NOT TRUST THIS DEALERSHIP. I bought elsewhere and will never return. This was hands down the worst buying experience I have ever encountered.

Buy New Nissan from Ali

by mollydog1 on 10/03/2014

Bought a new Altima after finding it on the internet. Make sure you read the internet dealer fine print. Price didn't included many incentives that aren't available to everyone, but after an hour or so Ali got the internet price as advertised for me. Buy from Ali!

Horrible Sales experience

by luvcars12 on 09/02/2014

Don't slip on the floor on the way in!!! I went to purchase a car yesterday, the salesperson quoted me an excellent price "TODAY ONLY" I thought about it for no more than 10 minutes and said "I will take it!". I then waited 5 minutes while they assembled the paperwork and talked amongst each other, then I was told it was too late the car is now $2,500 more!! This is the second time [non-permissible content removed] have played games, last year they quoted me $300 per month more on a lease than Rosen. Russ Darrow Nissan is a greasy dealership, stay away!! To be fair Russ Darrow Toyota and Russ Darrow Mazda is pretty good.

Don't fall for Internet pricing/sales!!

by jessert on 07/17/2014

I found a car online at this dealership priced at $13,999 plus they had a $2,100 minimum trade in deal, which I called twice and verified that that applied to the car I was looking at before making the 2 hour drive. After we test drove the car the salesmen put the numbers down in front of us. The car was "discounted" to $16,999 and they would give me $1,000 for my trade. How does that work? We stuck to our guns and got the deal that we were looking for but what kind of business does that? Theft and murder numbers would sky rocket if every business ran like this!! And to top it all off the finance guy tried to see us a warranty that had higher monthly payments (for 5 years!!) than the loan payment! We paid $13,999 for the car and the warranty would have cost over $18,000!!! Had I read reviews on this dealership I would not have gone there and I will certainly not be returning. The salesmen gave me some of his cards and said if you know anyone looking...yeah those puppies went straight to the trash!! Alot of times when I leave a car dealership I have a good feeling and proud to be a customer of theirs. Here I just feel like we fought off all their BS to get the deal we came for. Stay away from this place if you can avoid it!!

Awful Experience

by MHPlumbing on 07/12/2014

Purchased a used car on June 27 from this dealer (car for my 17 year old daughter whose car was totaled by a OWI driver who hit her) . The vehicle had some front passenger damage that the dealer was to repair. Was told parts would be available on July 1, with repairs done on July 3 (the 4th was on a Friday); may drag into the following week due to the holiday. I stopped by on July 8th to see what was going on; was told by Sales manger that more parts were needed and we should have vehicle by the end of the week (July 11). He promised to keep us up to date, as we had not been informed of what was happening so far; I told him I understood that they may be having problems and simply asked to be kept informed of what was going on.I called on July 11 and talked with the service manager who informed us that the repairs were still 5 - 6 days away from being complete. Will update if I ever actually get the car we paid for (BTW, we paid cash for the car!)

Bad Experiance

Shady as can be

by klaus23 on 11/29/2013

What a joke. Had an agreement for a car for my gf. After being in the store for 4 hours on the second visit, the purchase price and trade value changed at the point of the paperwork. I was told it was a "miscommunication". No, it was shady, as we had confirmed the numbers three times, including with the finance manager. In addition, the dealer sent off 15 separate credit applications to banks for her, unknown to us. This sheer volume resulted in a reduction in her credit score. Stay away at all costs, this place validates every bad thing you've ever heard about car dealerships. After this, we went to Boucher Nissan in Waukesha. They were great to work with, and she has the car. Try them if you want a decent dealer experience.

horrible experience

by kkmirsxoxo on 09/21/2013

This place is a joke! they wouldn't give me what I needed for a trade in(not a big deal), but then they advised me to buy a car from them and "voluntarily give the bank my car"(my trade in) in other words volunteer my car for repossession, they tried saying that it will only be on my credit report for 90 days and that it won't hurt my credit, thankfully I'm not that stupid! So my husband and I left and the sales man calls me to "get more information" and I told him I am not interested. Now all of a sudden my husband and I have 6 new inquiries on our credit report because they ran our credit after I specifically told them NOT TO!!!!! needless to say I will NEVER do business with Russ Darrow again, and I will make sure my family and friends don't waste there time here either!
