It was good until it went bad, very bad!

I don’t do online reviews often but my horrendous experience at this dealer made me feel obligated to let others know. I live in Gig harbor and my mom recently had a really fantastic experience at South Tacoma Honda. She encouraged us to go to South tacoma Mazda as we were interested in a 2018 CX-5 touring. We drove up there spoke to the most competent, kind, professional sales associate named Pavel. He showed me a certified used 2017 CX-5 Grand Touring with all the packages. We test drove it and I fell in love. We went in to talk numbers and he was incredibly patient while we figured everything out. My husband was a little hesitant because we just aren’t looking at great interest rates currently and had asked for $1000 off the sticker price as that would get us where we needed to be payment wise with our down payment and trade in. Pavel went back to ask and was still very helpful and patient. But then this older man came out, I unfortunately do not know his name, pushed our keys and registration at us and told us that he was not going to give us $1000 off that price and we shouldn’t have even asked as the price is already a good price. He then proceeds to lecture my husband and I on whether we truly wanted the car and tell us we were wasting time over $1000. He said it’s a $1000 come on what is that? He tells us he has owned several dealerships over the years and we are being ridiculous. I then am so offended by his condescending, rude tone that I quietly grab everything and tell my husband we are leaving. The man then walks over to his office and proceeds to talk crap about us across the lobby to Pavel. Obviously knowing we can hear him. He says “they’re leaving over $1000 dollars, $100 a year, who gets stuck on $100 a year” ACROSS THE LOBBY! I have never been so outraged in my life. I left because of that man!! I was about to spend over $30,000 with them and he wants to be a condescending, rude human being. I have never met anyone in customer service who treats people like he did. I really wish I had his name, but he is very old and very rude. I would have spoken to my husband and we would have purchased that car on the spot had that man not come out. All they had to say was I’m sorry we can’t do the $1000. I would have told my husband it was fine and we would have purchased the car. I get it was close to closing time and that man wanted to go home but he also could have said can we finish this tomorrow as we are closed, or anything really instead of basically telling my husband and I that we didn’t really want the car and we were ridiculous for worrying about $1000. I don’t know if he was the finance manager or the sales manager or who he was but I will never go back to this place and if I do for some reason I will absolutely avoid that man. My husband is active duty Marine Corps and I work for the Navy as a civilian and we will absolutley be passing this information and our review of this dealership on in any way we can. My husband has been in over 10 years and has counseled many jr Marines on the appropriate places and guidelines when purchasing cars, this will not be one of the places we send people. I highly recommend speaking to that old man and keeping him away from customers. We will head back to Korum in Puyallup, or West Hills in Bremerton.

You have to go see Paul!

We went through a long ordeal to find the right place to buy the Mazda CX5 for my husband. We started in Puyallup and were not inspired. We went to South Tacoma Mazda and met Paul. We knew we liked the car but he made us love the experience. We loved my husband's car so much, we decided to sell my car and get me one too. We have never done this before so it was important to us that we had a great experience. We called for Paul specifically because he is one incredible human. He is smart, grounded, and knows how to meet his customer's needs. We honestly can't say enough about him. Thank you Paul! Oh, and we love both cars too.

Great experience, Great car

South Tacoma Mazda is big on friendly customer service. They bent over backwards to accommodate me and I ended up purchasing a great car at a great price. I would highly recommend this dealership.

Owner & I came to a great compromise.

Here is an update on my situation. I spoke directly with the owner of the dealership & he agreed to have my car fixed in his body shop. I feel much better about working with South Tacoma Mazda!

Finance lies

My wife and I purchased a used SUV. The sales associate we worked with was great. The fault rests with the financing. We got set-up with financing at the dealer, through one of their preferred lenders. It was going fine, until the finance guy started telling us ALOT of lies. First, he says we need Gap insurance. No, we don't. The SUV we bought was worth more than we were paying. Second lie, he says its better to not put money down because we will pay less interest. Third lie, he was trying to pressure us into buying the extended warranty because "if the transmission breaks, those are like $6k to have fixed.". No, they aren't. The final lie was one that everyone in the dealership told us. They said that if we wanted to get financing somewhere else (like our own bank) we could do so within 3 days because thats how long they always wait to cash in on the loan. We made it clear that we were going to look into other options. Well, we bought the SUV Saturday, visited our bank Monday morning and got a better rate. Our bank contacted them before noon on Monday and they had already cashed in on the loan. When the same finance guy called us back, he was irritated with us! If we ever return, I'll never work with their finance dept.

Purchase of a used car at South Tacoma Mazda

I purchased my used vehicle from South Tacoma Mazda and four days later the car left me stranded, as it would not go into gear. I had the car towed back to the dealership because they gave me a 30 day powertrain warranty. It seems that the problem is related to the clutch or transmission and they refused to repair the vehicle even though I've had the car for only 4 days. They are saying its a normal "wear and tear item". The sales manager and the service manager both pointed the finger at me and said it was my fault, that I abused the car, and literally walked away from me and the car. This has been the worst used car buying experience I've ever experienced. I will be taking this case to small claims court. If you are considering buying a used vehicle from this dealership, look elsewhere so you don't have to go through what I'm going through. This has been a nightmare, I have a new car and can't even drive it because its in the shop at my own expense.
