Extortion and bogus unauthorized charge; AVOID JT Medrano

Summary: - AVOID JT Medrano. - Watch out for "Misc. Charges" on your bill. You can get them removed. - Don't believe anything you see in the work order. Things marked as "critical concerns" are not at all critical concerns. I called to have my car towed to Toyota of Seattle for a diagnostic test. I authorized a $195 charge over the phone. 1. Extortion After the diagnostic test results came back, JT Medrano from Toyota of Seattle threatened to charge me with a $350 car storage fee if I did not authorize $1316 of "further diagnostic tests." (This $1316 was only a part of a $6295.41 work order, and only one thing in that work order was actually related to the issue with my car.) He said he wouldn't charge this fee if I did agree to authorize the further diagnostic tests. Plainly and simply, this is extortion. On top of this, JT Medrano smirked as he made this threat. His intent was to cause harm and suffering. 2. Unauthorized bogus 3% charge When I received the invoice for the initial diagnostic exam, the amount was more than I authorized over the phone. JT Medrano secretly added a 3% "Misc. Charges" to the bottom of the invoice. JT Medrano did not mention the charge, and the charge is not explained on the invoice itself. I understand that it is common practice for dealers to add superfluous and deceitful charges like this, but it is not acceptable when I had authorized a specific amount over the phone. As far as I can tell, JT Medrano the only member of the staff who has been called out specifically in negative reviews, and he’s been called out multiple times.

!!!EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

First, it's important to know that I have been leasing and purchasing vehicles on the east and west coast for over 25 years. My first customer experience with Toyota of Seattle (TOS) was in 2010, when I purchased my first Toyota Tacoma TRD. Over the past 8 years, I have continued to do business with TOS due to the dealerships outstanding customer service in sales and maintenance. As a TOS customer, you are guaranteed NO slick sales gimmicks, pressure or manipulating ploys to purchase their vehicle. YES, just great customer service with honesty and ease. Most recently, I stopped into Toyota of Seattle to inquire about a new 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD which was on display outside in front of the dealership. When I walked into the showroom, I was greeted by a friendly sales associate who said if you need any help or have any questions, please let someone know. I asked to speak with the sales manager (Joyce Kroeger). Within a couple of minutes, Joyce was available to talk with me about my interest in trading in my 2016 Toyota Tacoma SR5 for the 2018 Tacoma TRD sitting in front of the dealership. I asked Joyce if she could run the numbers for a lease or purchase option based on my current credit score. I also stated a ballpark figure in terms of a monthly payment amount if we were going to move forward with a trade-in today. Additionally, I explained that I only had a few hours due to a dinner engagement, so I did not have a lot of time hanging around the dealership. I had some general questions about the equipment options on the 2018 Tacoma TRD, so Joyce introduced me to Kel Sadiku, who is an experienced sales associate. Kel was able to answer all my questions while Joyce was working on appraising my 2016 Tacoma, calculating monthly payment amounts for a lease and purchase price. It took Joyce less than 30 minutes to come back with all the information I needed to make an informed decision. Based on the information provided, I decided to go with a 36 month lease with the option to purchase or refinance the 2018 Tacoma at the end of the lease terms. When I gave the OK to proceed with the paperwork, it took less than 90 minutes to run my credit, prepare the contract, detail and register my new truck and drive off. I would highly recommend Toyota of Seattle to anyone who is looking to lease or purchase a new Toyota vehicle. The customer service at Toyota of Seattle is second to none! Michael Croyle Seattle, WA

For the most part it was because of the excellent and dedicated service of BEN LEAHY... he was very patient with us, he explained everything in details like a real car sales pro, and the best thing about him is his “ honesty”. Unexpectedly wonderful experience

I decided to swing by Toyota of Seattle with my boyfriend over the weekend to check out cars and get a feel for prices etc. Ben helped us from the beginning and was not only patient and helpful and accommodating, but he was engaging and matched our sense of humor really well. I wasn’t anticipating buying a car this weekend at all but he made the process so easy that it really made much more sense to trade in my car and upgrade. I was nervous about buying a car from such a big dealership but Ben made this process much more personable and eased my anxiety completely. I look forward to working with Ben and Toyota of Seattle in the future.

Best car buying experience ever!

Quite possibly the one of the top five retail experiences of my life. This dealership and it’s amazing staff went way above and beyond to make my wishes come true. Ben did the real work you truly expect from someone in sales. He was upfront and honest which is very important. He didn’t try any of the typical salesman tricks and was just a warm genuine guy and really seemed to care about meeting my needs and expectations. I was on a limited schedule and unable to get to the dealership to see the truck and Ben offered to not only inspect it and report back to me but he drove it all the way to Everett just so I could check it out at my place of work. The Tacoma was everything he said it was and we signed the papers right at my own desk. I was able to FaceTime with the woman in finance, I think her name was Joyce, forgive me I’m terrible with names, and she was just as upbeat and pleasant as can be. I think even if I hadn’t bought the truck my experience with this dealership would have made my day and a loyal customer anyways. Such a great experience, totally worth going out of your way to deal with such wonderful people. Thank you Ben Leahy and everyone at Toyota of Seattle. I’m a fan for life.

Wonderful Car Buying Experience

I found the used car I was looking for - a 2012 Volvo S60 - at Toyota of Seattle via Craigslist. I called the number in the listing and Adnan Omar picked up the phone within two rings. He immediately said he'd go make sure the car was still available and call me back. He took about 5 minutes to call back and let me know the car was there and he was holding onto the key for me. I knew I was going to be arriving close to their end of day but he insisted that was okay. When my wife and I arrived we were greeted warmly by Adnan. He was almost giddy because he had never driven a Volvo before and he was quite impressed. He also let me know that he was new to the industry and his knowledge wasn't up to speed yet. I assured him I had done my research online already but I appreciated his candor. We went for a test drive and I loved the car. When we got back to the dealership, he was offering beverages to my family and was warm and sincere throughout the process. A couple of times there were some potential misunderstandings and he checked in with me to "make sure there are no questions". I realized through the process that people no longer expect auto salespeople to know every detail about every car. In fact, Adnan knew enough to say he was new, be pleasant and then shut up. I did all the selling for him. He and his finance manager, Joyce?, stayed well past 10:00 getting everything set up for us. They were kind, understanding, did whatever they need to for us to get the best deal and we went home with the car not even 3 hours after we first met. I have purchased many, many cars in my lifetime. Those who know me would say too many. But this was, perhaps, the most pleasant car buying experience I have ever had and Adnan was a big part of that. He is hard working, honest, personable and interested in his customer. I would highly recommend not only Toyota of Seattle but Adnan as well. You won't be disappointed.

Most pleasant car buying experience...

My son needed a pickup for a small business venture - I did the research and settled on buying a new Toyota Tacoma - I knew the vehicle we wanted, together with the options - although I live on the Eastside, I purchase most major items in Seattle since I'm done with the arrogance of sales folks on the Eastside. We were introduced to Pape Moraga when we got to the dealership - he immediately impressed me with his warm style, and then he continued to answer all my pretty technical questions on point about the vehicle - the pricing part was the best with haggle free pricing - based on my research, it was a very good deal. I was also very impressed with the finance part - so, no finance 'wizards' offering extended warranties and 'dust' protection - what we agreed on is what we got. I recommend this dealership to anyone in the market for a Toyota in the PNW area - Pape Moraga is also a stand up guy that will go above and beyond to ensure your needs are met - kudos to the leadership of this store to make the car buying experience extremely pleasant. If Toyota could get AWD into their top of range Camry, I'd be right there again!

We were looking to lease a specific Toyota Tacoma. The truck was not in inventory so we took a test drive on similar (different color) vehicle. As we descended the ramp there it was. The exact truck had just arrived. Mike Boza, our sales agent, worked to get it into inventory and get an affordable lease. Happiness is the exact truck we had in mind

Worst dealership in Seattle

If you want to be treated like a little kid then this is the perfect place. First, never offered a test drive. I ended up test driving at another Toyota. Gave them a second chance and decided to go back. Told them I wanted to pay in full. They said they didn’t take checks even with funds verification. They then wouldn’t let me go to the bank to get the money out on my own. I told them I could definitely drive myself. They pushed and acted like it was required that they “escort” me to the bank. They even followed me into the bank and stood behind me. Thank you Stacey Jackson and all the Toyota of Seattle “sales people”. Also, thank you for the 30 business cards you sent me in the mail. Forgot to mention I tried to sell them my car before all this. Their Edmunds offer Is completely off from what they will offer you. I had to wait 5 days for a trade in offer from them. Ended up making $20,000 more than their offer at another dealership.

Car sales - the way it should be

I went into Seattle to do research on a trade in and purchase. The experience was upfront and clear. Trade in value presented to me within an hour of my visit. Online quotes that were almost the lowest in the area (only Burien was slighly lower and not by much). I left with a clear picture of what my cost would be. The staff was also friendly and professional.

Unbelievable!!!

After going to several Toyota dealers in the area I was ready to give up. I was told that downtown Seattle would be more expensive. I decided to try anyway. From the moment Monica (our salesperson) greeted us at the door we felt at ease. What a change from all the stereotypical know-it-all lying car salesmen. Monica was extremely patient while my wife and I changed our minds (several times) on the color of the vehicle we were looking at. She patiently moved vehicles out for us to see. When we said we needed to go eat and think about things she did not try to make us stay (like other places did). She recommended were we could go for lunch. No pressure to return or make a decision quickly. After lunch we returned and changed our mind yet again on the color. After choosing a color we sat down to talk numbers. I gave her my offer. Within 5 minutes we had reached a deal that I was happy with! And to all the smaller Toyota dealerships who claim that they have better prices than downtown dealerships- Toyota Seattle beat all other dealerships in the area. It was early afternoon and the car we wanted had to be brought from another dealership. Initially they said it would be the next day but somehow they managed to get us our new car by late afternoon. The next time we need a new car we will save time and go straight to Toyota of Seattle. Thanks to Monica, Tim, and Desmond!

Great Deal and Excellent Customer Service

I was really nervous going in to the dealership because I have nothing but horror stories about dealerships. But my husband and I had been searching for a while and really needed to trade in his Jeep because the heater/AC didn't work and we're expecting another baby soon. It would cost us more to fix the problems than the Jeep was worth. I found a deal online that I thought was too good to be true. Over $2000 less than KBB. I figured there was something wrong but we decided to check it out anyways. Eric Z. helped us once we got there. Answered all of our questions and took us on a test drive. The car was in amazing condition and the CARFAX was clean. The hard part was the financing since we had no money down and bad credit, but they were able to work out a deal that we were okay with accepting (believe me, I would have walked out if it didn't fit in our very tight budget). Eric was very personable and even involved our 4 year old, very bored and antsy, daughter. He took her over to the fish tank to show her Nemo, Nemo's dad, and Dori:) He got her a balloon, too. It was a great experience and most importantly, I don't feel like we got screwed over. I would definitely go there again.

Mike and Hoss were excellent to work with. They gave us the best price for my Toyota Highlander and were wonderful to work with. Hoss is very knowledgable regarding all the workings of the Highlander. He showed me how to use all the euipment in the Highlander and set me up with my Bluetooth/Pandora/Entune etc. It was such a pleasant experience compared to the all the other Toyota dealerships I went to. I would highly recommend going to Michael D. and Hoss T. at Toyota of Seattle for anyone looking for a new Toyota.

Bought a new Prius last weekend

I bought a new Prius at Toyota of Seattle last weekend. They were great. This was the first time I had bought a new car or from a dealer for that matter. After visiting a few other dealerships during my search, I was impressed with their down to earth approach. No Pressure, very honest and just really easy folks to work with. The negotiations were a little tough, but very fair and I was very happy to purchase from them.

I had a great experience at Toyota of Seattle. Joyce, the Sales Professional, helped me stay within my budget and find a car that I would enjoy. My car didn't come with keyless entry so I went through the Service & Parts Department to get it done - I was impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the convenience of the shuttle service. As someone who has never bought from a dealership, I was nervous about the experience and they helped me feel comfortable with it every step of the way and were willing to work with me when I had concerns.
