Beware of Their Shtick

by davewww on 04/27/2010

This is my experience purchasing a new 2008 Ford Ranger at Frontier Ford, Anacortes Washington. A vehicle was chosen from the lot and the price was negotiated. The price was written on a piece of copy paper with a felt pen. The paper was taken somewhere and I never saw it again. Tip #1: Make them give you a copy of that paper. Then we sat in the showroom for at least 45 minutes. Finally, I was summoned to a dark, stuffy, over-heated office and the door was shut. An obnoxious woman proceeded to talk, talk, talk my ear off for another 45 minutes or so. I was at a point of desperation to get the papers signed and get out of there. The papers finally emerged from the printer and I signed them. Tip #2: Compare the price on those papers to the copy you received in Tip #1. It was only after I got home, I discovered they had switched the price on the papers back to the sticker price. It was not the price we had negotiated. This was my own fault, but it does not have to happen to anyone else.

Stay Away From This Dealer

by flounderfe on 04/05/2009

I am in the market for a commuter car. I am awaiting a job transfer this year. I don't know when it will be official. It could be between today and October of this year. When the salesman (some retired Navy Master Chief (more like an E-9) found this info out, he cut short my test drive and walked away from me when we got back! After I visited service to get maintenance prices, I found him and asked about the tilt wheel option. He replied, in the tone of a four year old child, "Maybe in six months. It won't matter, because maybe I will have one of these cars (Focus) in stock for sale at that time". I immediatly walked out of the store. The first person to visit was the sales manager. His defense of the salesman was, "He is an old grumpy Master Chief". Wake up [violative content deleted]! He isn't in the Navy anymore, and no body cares what his rate is. Next was the store manager. I politely told him I will no longer be needing his store's services. There are 50 dealers within a realistic driving distance to give my money to. I was told by several people to stay away from this dealer, which is what I should have done. Every car/truck on the lot had a mark up over MSRP of at least $3000 dollars. The sales manager told me, "Business is good, I'm making money". Good for him, as he won't be getting any of mine.
