I bought a used XC 90 from Freedom Volvo and shortly noticed it was leaking very badly in the rain. The Nor'easter we had in November left 1 inch of standing water on my floorboard. During a subsequent storm I could hear water sloshing around in the roof. When I was looking at the car, my main issue was the fact that Volvo parts were so expensive and reviews of this model had noted some pricey failures in the transmission and drive train. The salesmen (there were two of them, as always) convinced be to buy the extended warrenty which they assured me covered everything except normally replacable parts such as tires, brakes, filters, etc. They specifically said more than once that it covered everything "bumper to bumper". I brought it to the dealer today to have the water leak looked at and they diagnosed the cause as clogged drainholes around the sunroof. The dealer quoted me over $400 to replace the drain holes or $300 to clear the existing ones with an additional $700 to dry the carpeting (not to replace the carpeting, just dry and reinstall the dirty, old pieces). They say the warrenty does not cover ANY water leaks. That exclusion wasn't noted on the list that I checked numerous times before agreeing to the warrenty and would have been valuable information had someone offered it at the time. In addition they are charging me over $100 just for the dianogstic work - something else they conveniently failed to mention when I dropped the car off. This dealership is good at acting very gracious but consistently providing the bare minimum of service at exorbitant prices. Don't trust anything they tell you or sell you.
