"Walk the Walk"

Janeda my salesperson was very professional and extremely knowledgeable. Donnie the manager was also very helpful and attentive to my needs. The overall buying experience was Great. Unfortunately the Vehicle I choose had problems. When I got it home after signing contract and taking delivery I found stuff missing and a few mechanical problems that made the Vehicle un road worthy and should [or would] not pass inspection. Janeda and Donnie without question replaced missing parts and got me appointment to fix mechanical problems. They paid in full the service charge and now I have an excellent Car my family is very happy with. Many Dealers 'Say' their main goal is Customer Satisfaction and will do what is necessary to achieve that but few actually intend to. Charles Barker Pre Owned Outlet 'Walked the Walk' without question in a friendly and sincere manner making sure I was taken care of and satisfied. I researched the Dealership I wanted to buy from and choose Charles Barker Pre Owned. I made the right choice and so should anyone looking for a quality used Vehicle. Make sure you ask for Janeda you won't be sorry.

2nd time around

Charles Barker Outlet did it again. I am a returning customer after 3 years. I really needed a car the 1st time, after getting divorced with my credit shot. Sam my salesman, was able to help me. I promised him when I wanted a new car I would come back. This time I was able to come back and get the type of car I couldn't afford from the first time. Thanks Sam and Charles Barker!!

Felling Used

My experience with Charles Barker started off on a high note, but over the past month has taken a turn for the worst and I will not be a customer of theirs any longer.I am a young adult that had no credit and in need of a car. Charles Barker was the only dealership I went to that offered to help find a loan that would get me on the road. At the time there was really only 1 car on the lot within my budget, an 03 Volkswagen GTI. As I test drove the car I noticed a few things wrong with it. The tires were low on tread, kinda high millage with no replacement of the water pump/timing belt, and a bad SAI(which is a common problem in that modle of the GTI). My sales person said they could not do anything about them, since it was an AS IS vehicle I decided that if those were the only problems it had i'd take it. After the first day I had it at home I noticed a small leak, I just though it was oil. About a few weeks after I purchased the car, during my first oil change on it, I realized that the leak was actually from the transmission. There was a shard of metal from the protection cover of the transmission into one of the transmission gaskets. Automatically I knew that was going to be a pretty penny to fix. However, that doesn't end the biggest problem with this car I was sold. My most recent problem I found out after I almost had a major car accident. My breaks started to not properly work on the high way and I was close to hitting another car. My mechanic took my car in and found out that my brake booster line was electrical taped to my secondary airline to the undercarriage. This tapping made my breaks not work correctly, since Volkswagen uses an air system in their brake system. That is completely unacceptable and should have never passed the inspection. For a dealership that prides themselves on honesty and being one of the "Premiere" Auto lots in the Hampton Roads area, I feel like I was used just to make the sale. My advice is to check the vehicle to the fullest extent, make sure the problems I had does not happen to you. Or better yet find a dealership that is true to their word.

Poor Customer Service

I had to deal with the Sales Representative Donovan. His extremely poor communication skills drove me insane. First I do want to say how grateful I am that Charles Barker worked to have cruise control installed on the vehicle i purchased. I came to see the car and immediately fell in love. I was actually very surprised that Donovan did not notice how much I originally wanted the vehicle and allowed me to walk away from the dealership without suggesting the instillation of cruise control. The reason I returned back to the dealership to purchase the vehicle was because my father was the one that informed me it could be installed! On Monday the 1st when I purchased the vehicle, Donovan told me he would immediately call the shop that was doing the instillation to get the ball rolling. It was late in the evening so he told me he would call me Tuesday for a time frame of when the car would be finished. Tuesday around 5:30 I had not heard from Donovan so I called the dealership. He was not in. The receptionist gladly called him to see if she could find out. She promptly returned my call and told me Donovan said the part would be in on Wednesday and the car should be done Thursday. Great! (not sure why he didnt call, I am his client) Again Thursday evening rolled around no call from Donovan. I called the dealership around 5:00, and he told me it would definitely be done Friday. Well of course I called on Friday around noon to get an update. I spoke to Donovan and he told me some time in the afternoon it should be done. Well I was out and near the dealership around 5PM so I stopped in. I spoke with Donovan in person, where he told me "Oh I forgot to call you its not done". I asked Donovan to Please give me an accurate time frame of when the car would be ready for pick up. Again I am glad the cruise control is going to be done, so please just give me an accurate time frame. Even if it is a week out just let me know when. He proceeded to tell me Monday. Well of course it is not ready and on top of that he was not the one to call me! I understand you are working with a second party to have this installed. But the fact that Donovan is obviously lieing to me repetitively to give me an answer he THINKS I want to hear is a complete annoyance. This is an issue I thought any sales manager (Tony H.) would want brought to their attention. I did email Tony letting him know my frustration. Well guess what! When I picked up the vehicle I asked to speak to Tony. Asked him if he received my email ... His reply. "No what email did you send it to?". I told him the email and he said .. "Ohhh I don't check that often." EXCUSE ME!!!! I told him the story and guess what he was just as dopey as Donovan. Oh well, Customer service just isn't their forte. One more things, Donovan get some new shoes that you can walk in. They are too big and you walk like a scuba diver Love the car! - Jamie

Poor customer service

This dealership is very disloyal, they do not stand on their word. Please make sure you inspect the car very well and also to get all the necessary complete package before you sign any paperwork. Sales person was Bobby Ford, and I will never recommend him to anyone. The manager (Tony Hoffman) doesn't care about her customers either. I will advice everyone to refrain doing business with this dealership because they are [violative content deleted].
