Pleasant experience

by Dave_L. on 07/30/2019

My wife and I purchased a car 2 days ago and were very happy with our interaction with salesman Weylin Holmes. There was no pressure and he was very knowledgeable about the vehicle we chose. It was the second car we bought from you and with the experience we had dealing with Weylin, makes us want to continue being Harrisonburg Honda customers.

Lesson Learned

by J-M on 11/13/2018

Don't get me wrong our sales man was great and did everything possible to help us out. I bought a car from Harrisonburg Honda and have nothing but problems out of it. They would not cover my car part that I needed before 30 days of owning my car. I had to pay over $200.00 out of pocket and their sales guy had to pay out of his own pocket too in order to get my car fixed. Now before my first payment I have had yet more problem with it. I would not recommend this dealership due to the fact that I feel like I have been blown off when I have gone to the manager he acted like a was a no body and did not seem to care about how displeased I was.

Shockingly Good Customer Service

by AComtois on 04/24/2018

Harrisonburg Honda understands what REAL customer service means. The staff at this location is exceptional from top to bottom and I will never shop anywhere else for a vehicle. I had purchased my second Honda from them, (used), and within three weeks it was inoperable. They tried to fix it several times for free. When I spoke with the sales manager, Eric Blosser, about my concerns I was told that I should choose another vehicle. There was no argument, no excuses were given. I was provided a rental car gratis and they took care of everything that needed to be done for a smooth transition to another vehicle. Derek Good, Antonio Rodriguez, and Matt Bentel all went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and happy. In todays day and age of combative customer service it was a shock to receive such good care. If you want to be treated like a customer should be treated, I recommend going to Harrisonburg Honda. They will go above and beyond!

Best car buying experience ever!

by Carlos on 10/11/2017

I am a proud military retiree with 20 years of service to my country who has brought cars from many different states, and like many do not enjoy new car buying, with that said Travis (sales rep) and the rest of the staff at Harrisonburg Honda made my recent purchase the absolute best car buying experience I have ever had. If you want a no hassle experience with knowledgeable staff and most important fair prices for both trade in and vehicle pricing without feeling like a hostage then this is where you have to go. Went to other dealers in the area and hands down none are comparable. Thanks guys. Carlos

I avoid

by iresearch on 06/03/2013

I not only have experience with Harrisonburg Honda but Harrisonburg Hyundai. First Harrisonburg Honda. I was looking for an affordable compact car and the Honda Civic was a possible car. They didn't have anything in my price range but had just got in a Honda Civic that was. They said it was an 2005 and they'd have it cleaned up the next day. When I showed up to see it it turned out it was a 2004 (no big deal), but rather than $11,995 it was $12,995. Okay, I was flexible, so I spent at least 45 min driving it to see if it was something I'd be willing to live with for 4+ years. I figured it if could buy it reasonable it would be worth it even though I didn't like it (since Honda's are said to be so good, but really aren't). But they insisted it was worth $12,000 plus my trade in. Book value on the car was around $12,000 and my trade in $1,000 (low value). They insisted that they needed $12,000 plus my trade in, but I didn't like the car so I walked. Less than a week later they advertised the car for $11,995. I've looked at/asked about other vehicles on their lot and their prices tend to be ridiculous. Maybe if you are only looking to make payments it doesn't matter but their prices are not reasonable and the know little about what they are selling. The manager was insistent that the car was worth that much and the sales lady swore she would quit if they didn't treat me right Less than a month later she wasn't listed as a sales lady anymore. I don't know if that had to do with my experience, but I don't trust these people as they seem to ask unreasonable prices for their vehicles (I've looked at an SUV and a truck there). My suggestion is to do your research and stand your ground. These people can be aggressive, don't take crap from them and know what you are looking at first. Harrisonburg Hyundai is a worse story, just stay way from them.

Excellent from start to finish!

by martcp71 on 03/07/2013

I live 2 hours away in VA and requested email quotes via Edmunds.com for a 2013 Honda Accord EX-L. After receiving 5 or 6 quotes I called Harrisonburg Honda and spoke with Tyree M.. After speaking with him I made the 2 hour trip and left 2.5 hours later with my new Accord and pre-paid maintenance plan for less than I would have paid just for the car closer to where I live in northern VA. Everyone at Harrisonburg Honda was friendly and professional, no games, just great prices and great service! I will be back for a new Odyssey in the next 12 months.

Sadly, professionalism is lacking

by jcarb on 04/24/2012

My wife wanted a 2012 Honda CRV, so I asked her to choose the options she wanted then call dealerships in the area to find the best deal. After learning that incentives on the CRV were slow in coming I decided that we could look into leasing the vehicle (my first lease). She had been dealing with a salesperson at Harrisonburg Honda, so she called him up to discuss leasing. Based on our down payment he quoted a monthly lease payment of $239. After calculating our loss based on lease vs. purchase we decided leasing made sense, and made arrangements to pick up her new car. Last week we picked up her new CRV, signing lease agreement and other paperwork. We both found it interesting that the monthly payment was knocked back to $204 a month, but found no reason to complain. Additionally we were told that Honda will pick up the first lease payment. This is getting better and better, we thought, and were relieved we decided on Honda. A couple of days later they wanted us to come back and re-sign, there was an error in the paperwork (explained at the time that it was Honda finance that had made the mistake). Since the dealership is over an hour away and they insisted we come in right away, I insisted someone meet us. They did. It turns out that the original paperwork had a decimal place wrong, the real payment was going to be $289 a month. Moreover, Honda will not make the first payment for the CRV. Three big mistakes: 1) quoted monthly payment of $239. This was wrong. 2) that Honda will make the first payment. This was wrong. One might think that the salesperson and the finance person would know this. Apparently not. 3) an error that costs the consumer $85 a month more than the original lease agreement, $50 more than the quoted price before finalizing the deal. I decided to speak with the general manager. He was very nice, but the excuse given by both he and the business manager was that if the business manager had not taken the day off this would not have happened. I find this unacceptable. While an additional $50 (or $85, depending upon the starting point) is not significant to us, for many it is - these errors are inexcusable. Fortunately the general manager has agreed to negate the lease, we will return the CRV tomorrow and go to another dealer. I'm not good at writing negative reviews, but in this case, with the amount of money involved and the multiple errors, none in the favor of the consumer, I felt it necessary to let others know - it might be best to seek out another dealer if you're shopping for a Honda in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia.

I hit the "Easy Button" on the way out

by drive4life on 06/18/2011

After weeks of research and test driving various makes and models, I had my mind set on exactly what I wanted when it came to the last step of purchasing. This dealer was one of 3 that came up through an online bid service (I don’t know if I’m allowed to say the name on here) program. You plug in the details of the vehicle, and it sends the info out to various dealers and they respond with a quote. When I contacted them regarding the online quote, the salesman offered an even better deal and sent it to me in writing (email) line item by item, with the final out the door price. I forwarded the email to my sister, who works at a different Honda dealer and she confirmed it was a fabulous deal and to take it. When I called back to accept, he confirmed the car was in stock and other specific details about the car. I put down a reservation deposit over the phone to hold the car. To expedite the process, I also went on to their website and completed the “30 second” credit application and emailed him a copy of my insurance card and declarations before I hit the road for the trip out there. The dealer is over 100 miles away from my home, so there was a bit of a concern about them sticking to the quote and having exactly what I was told there waiting for me. Especially since I had put down a deposit. I’ve read many “horror” stories of those that drove from far away only to have wasted time on misleading or bait and switch tactics. When I arrived the salesman greeted me right away and the car was washed, and had a full tank, waiting for me. Within about 30 minutes I was in the car ready to go. Price honored to the penny. The car only had 7 miles on the odometer and everything else was as described. Before leaving, the salesman took the time to show me some cool features on the vehicle that the dealership where I test drove the model did not bother telling me about. He made sure that all my questions were answered from the various dashboard controls and about the car in general before I left. The whole process was smooth, honorable and quick. It was such a great experience that I hit the “Easy Button” that was on the desk, on my way out.

Bait and switch

by jjhenders on 12/11/2009

I got a call from a salesman at Harrisonburg Honda telling me about a deal that I found hard to believe. Well, I was right. The deal they wanted to make (on a new van, when I came in for a used van). The salesman knew full well I was looking for a used van, but they sat me down and promised to make me a deal that would "amaze" me. Well it did amaze me. It amazed me that I wasted my time driving to the dealership. The new vans were so expensive that I knew they couldn't make one affordable to me. But they kept wasting my time until I demanded to leave. At least they didn't abscond with my keys the way [another dealership] did. I wound up driving [elsewhere] to buy a Honda Odyssey.
