Kristen is excellent

After many years it was time to get a new Tucson. Kristen, a sales associate at Pohanka Hyundai, took the time to truly know what I wanted and what my budget was. No upsell or “let me talk to my manager.” She has such a calm demeanor and made me feel valued. I was so happy with her, my daughter in law will be buying her new Hyundai from her as well!

When we walked into the Pohanka Hyundai dealership last week we were already pretty set on either a Mazda or Toyota but just wanted to be sure. Isabel Germosen Castrillon met us at the door and with a smile and abundant patience addressed our many questions and requests. She took us for test drives and was extremely knowledgeable about the vehicles. In the rare instance that she couldn’t answer a question directly Izzy quickly researched and delivered the information. She was pleasant, professional, and a pleasure to work with. At no time did we ever feel pressured and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. It was a positive experience and in the end we were convinced that the Tucson was the vehicle for us. We will most certainly be back again!!

Kona was the one

Thanks to the salesman, Robert Carter, for understanding my car needs and delivered on the Kona. Also, for the follow up to see that I was satisfied with my purchase. Thanks to Julianna for getting my Hyundai Blue Link set up so I could enjoy this feature. Still, I need to return the car for the final detail (pinstripe), as it was late.

Price not as advertised

They ran a Black Friday ad for a Nissan Frontier 4x4 club cab and the price was not as advertised. Salesman claimed it was a typo and they refused to discuss it!

I went in with a price in mind for my trade in and what I was willing to pay for a new car. We got approved for great financing without the expectation of using it and was impressed with the service we received from the entire team at Pohanka Hyundai, especially Jerry B., we decided to purchase two new Hyundai's. I would recommend anyone who isn't part of the Hyundai family to join and I have talked so highly about the quality of the vehicles that someone in a different state even decided to buy one. I will go back to Pohanka for another purchase and my service work.

Working with Amanda was a great experience. She worked with me for almost a year until I moved to the Fredericksburg area. I knew that I wanted a Sonata, but I just couldn't afford a new one and she helped to get me into a certified 2011 model. She explained the Hyundai warranty which is why I ultimately ended up buying from the dealership.

Outstanding car buying experience

For several months I knew I'd be buying a new car this year. I first noticed the Elantra on the road because it's a good looking car and started paying attention to commercials. I did a lot of research online and was impressed with everything I learned. I talked with Hyundai owners and all were enthusiastic about their cars and would buy them again. The last time a bought a new car from a dealer was 1990 so I was nervous about going through the process again. When I walked into Pohanka Hyundai I spoke with Greg, the Sales Manager, and told him that I was nervous and didn't want to deal with a high-pressure salesman. He smiled and introduced me to Brandon S. Brandon is kind, patient and knowledgeable and worked with me to make sure I found the car I wanted. He understood what I was looking for and what I could afford. When we went for the test drive on surface streets and the freeway I fell in love with the Elantra and knew I'd found the car I wanted. We came back and worked on an estimate but I didn't sign anything that day because I wanted to bring a friend with me. He didn't pressure me to sign and Greg checked to make sure I'd had a good experience. I returned two days later with a friend to help me go through all the forms. My car was sitting outside ready to go home with me. Brandon patiently reviewed everything with both of us, worked on a few more details and took us to Matt, the Finance Manager. Matt was very efficient and knowledgeable, patiently listened to my concerns and patiently explained everything to me. He made several calls to get the best rate for me. As I walked through the Service Department on my first visit there someone called out to me. I turned and saw Fred P, the Service Manager. I knew Fred from a dealer he previously worked for and know that he is without a doubt the best Service Manager I've ever dealt with or heard of. Wonderful car, outstanding sales experience, great service department--what more could anyone ask... I highly recommend Pohanka Hyundai.

Best Price and Service!!!

I purchased my new(er) 2012 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0T from Pohanka Hyundai at Fredericksburg, VA. I did extensive research on the prices for Sonata SE 2.0T. Pohanka had the best price on the internet so I called them to negotiate over the phone. I had spoken to about 20 salemen/women over the phone in different dealers within 200 miles from my area before I called pohanka. Majority of them didn't have very good communication skills over the phone and didn't sound very honest. Some wouldn't even negotiate over the phone and wanted me to come in for a test drive first to get a price even though I was 150 miles away. Adam (at Pohanka Hyundai) was very honest and polite over the phone. He had pretty good amount of facts about the car that I wanted. I told him that I was looking for the best deal because I was not in rush to purchase a vehicle. He gave me a great price for the car and for my trade-in over the phone on Monday. I used that as my leverage to try to get better prices from other dealers but other dealers couldn't match it or beat the price. I made a trip down to the pohanka on Saturday with my family and worked with Adam to get the final price. He did everything he could to get me the price I wanted. I was able to drive out in my new(er) car that day. ;O) I was very pleased with how he treated us and most importantly got the deal for us. Greg (the manager) was very friendly and up front with us. I had to go see the Finance director name Matt. He wanted me to finance through the dealer for a good rate and buy the extended warranty for $950 but I refused. He wasn't happy about that at all and I didn't mind. The highlight was when Greg brought all the employees out who wasn't working with a customer to personally thank and congraduate us on our purchase. I didn't know what to do. Overall, I really had a great experience with them. I have already referred several people to Adam.

What a great deal!

After realizing I needed to get on the ball if I was to get one of the few remaining 2012 Santa Fe in the Virginia area, I checked with a number of dealerships within a 100 mile radius. Even with driving an hour, Amanda B. at Pohanka Hyundai in Fredericksburg made an offer that was so much better than anything else, that it was well worth the extra time to get there and back. She was relaxed but professional and made the process very easy to deal with. We love our new Santa Fe! Thanks, Amanda and Pohanka!

Best Car Buying Experience!

Not having perfect credit, I didn't think shopping for a car at a dealership was even an option. I went into Pohanka Hyundai last weekend and left shortly after with exactly what I was looking for. Timmy P. provided the best sales customer service I've ever received. He took my needs and concerns into consideration as he showed me their inventory. He and the finance department also worked with me on my down payment. I would recommend Timmy P. and Pohanka Hyundai to anyone looking for a new or used car! Hands down the best customer service!!

Po-shank ya!

My wife and I had a most unpleasant experience with Pohanka Hyundai in Fredericksburg. The first salesperson we dealt with on their lot really tried to pressure us to buy, although we made it clear that we were NOT going to buy a car that very instant. Furthermore, we discussed our quotes from other dealers with various salespersons. Instead trying to counter the other quotes, the incredulous salespeople responded by attacking the validity of the quotes that we received. "Oh, I would be careful about that..." was what we heard quite often. Their best seemingly was to offer us the "Pohanka Advantage." I don't remember all of the details, but it included 250$ off our next purchase with them. So, if you decide to buy from them now, but then decide to purchase a car from another dealer in the future, you are out $250 on your next purchase. So, it is meant to compel you to purchase your next car from Pohanka, while not saving you much on your current purchase. Insulting when you think about it. Furthermore, the salesperson who showed us the features of the car seemed to not have a full grasp on the car's capabilities. For example, he could not explain the ECO feature of the car, while another dealer (West Broad Hyundai -Richmond) clearly explained the pros and cons. Finally, the staff seemed disorganized. We corresponded with at least 3 salespersons, 1 of which claimed to not know the one of the other reps. In fact, he contacted my wife out of "concern" to make sure she had not been scammed by someone. He adamantly insisted that the other internet salesperson did not work there, although we met with the internet person a few nights before at their showroom. So their inability to offer a fair price, their disorganization and high pressure tactics made me write this review. Buyers beware, shop around for the good deals that are out there!!!!

Outstanding Service

After looking for several weeks to buy a car for my daughter in New England, I finally found what I wanted at Pohanka. With a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle who were all car dealers, I'm familiar with what to look for. Although I found a few dealer reviews on line that were less than glowing, I made the assumption that most disappointed customers will post a negative review while most happy customers will not post a positive one. So I went in to look at the 120,000 mile 2000 Subaru Outback wagon. It was in good shape for a nine year old car, but I had a few questions. The price was $750 below NADA and it is unusual for a trade-in that old to be kept on a dealer lot, so it was something that was either very good or very bad. Carfax listed it as a one owner car, and the AARP sticker on the back window indicated that the owner was probably more likely to take care of the vehicle. However, there was no record of timing belt replacement and also a few other odds and ends that I noted during test drive and inspection. After agreeing in principle on the deal on a Sunday afternoon pending the service department list of work the dealer wanted to do prior to sale, I went home. On Monday, I was able to close the deal by phone when the dealer agreed to put work into the car, including the timing belt, alignment, radiator and transmission service, and a matching tire to go with the one that was already replaced for safety inspection. On Tuesday, my daughter flew in and we drove down to Fredericksburg to pick up the car. I found them very easy to work with, I experienced none of the problems mentioned in other reviews, and they have lived up to their promises. In fact, while we were in the business office, the sales person even took it over for a fill up. As old as it is, there's a cassette player, but no CD. No problem--my daughter has a tape to iPod adaptor--but I had no tape to test it. Our sales person, Sandi, ran out to her own car and grabbed an Adventures in Odyssey tape she plays for her grandchildren. The tape player worked perfectly. An additional complication over the usual sale is that my daughter will be registering in New Hampshire. No problem again--they had all the paperwork in order to get an in-transit tag so that she can get her plates up there. They even offered to do the leg work for her, but the NH town clerk requires the owner to appear in person to sign the application.
