Horrible - Disappointing - Poor

Last Thursday evening I invested over two hours of my time with Mat. After completing the paperwork and submitting the finance application, I was told by Mat that he would contact me the following day. Friday - Nothing. Saturday - Nothing. I called enquiring and he said that he had been tied up but that he would get James to call me back shortly. Three hours later James calls and asks me to call him back to discuss the Santa Fe. I called him and it is now Tuesday April 29th and I still haven't heard anything back. Upon closer review of this dealerships rating it shows 5 stars - how is that possible is completely and utterly baffling to me. I have never ever experienced such an incredible display of poor professionalism, follow up, customer service (even the receptionist kept me on hold for 2 minutes and 40 seconds only to return back to the call and explain that Mat was with a customer......) What a waste of time and effort on a dealership who clearly place zero value on prospective customers in the market to purchase a new vehicle, by treating them in such an appalling and poor way. Mat - you're in sales and customer service, when you say you're going to do something.....do it!! James - when a customer returns your call have the decency, the good manners and the courtesy to return the call. Receptionist - in future don't place a customer on hold for over 2 minutes and forgetting about them, it's not as if you're Classic BMW or Park Place Lexus!!!

Helpful, courteous, pricey

The salesman was friendly, courteous and not helpful although we only corresponded via email. Although in line with Dallas' dealer prices, their offer was significantly higher than two Fort Worth dealers.

Phenomenal dealership

I've purchased two cars from Eckert personally and my family has purchased five. They truly have a very low-pressure sales approach and if you are buying used, just hand you the keys to the car and let you go for a spin. The financing people are sharp and very quick (extremely rare) and the sales people do a good job helping when needed and leaving you alone when you are mulling things over.

My FIRST STOP on any new car purchase

My husband and I have bought 4 cars from Stan B. at Eckert Hyundai. We just keep trading and repurchasing our cares here because we love the NO PRESSURE and easy sales process. We are pretty spoiled now and can't see any reason to shop elsewhere.

Great dealership!

My husband and I just bought 2 cars from Eckert yesterday (10/22/12). We worked with Tommy B. and had a great experience. He was so wonderful to work with - knowledgeable, thorough, quick to return phone calls. He made the process so easy. When we came in to sign the papers, there was no games, no last minute attempt to upsell us. The prices were the same we were quoted days earlier on the phone. We will definitely recommend Eckert and Tommy to friends.

Excellent experience

I have purchased many cars in my time and have to say that my dealings with Eckert was one of the best ever. I worked with a great salesman, John Wester, who did a great job in assisting me. Since Hyundai was running promotional interest rates, I told them I wanted to finance with Hyundai. When I met with James in Finance, he said he was able to find me an even lower interest rate! I appreciated the effort on his part. He also made the doing the paperwork effortless. Everything from the moment I walked into the dealership to driving off in my new Genesis Coupe was handled in a professional, low pressure manner. I would highly recommend Eckert to anyone. Good folks to do business with.

I wish I could buy a car from them!

I stopped by this dealer the last time I was car shopping, and I really wish they would have had a car in their used lot that fit my needs. They were so nice and did not try to pressure me when I told them there was nothing in my price range with the features I wanted. I kind of hope Hyundai comes out with a reasonable hybrid soon so that I can buy from them. The only reason I haven't already purchased my next car is because I do not want to subject myself to such a horrible form of torture. If I ever see a reasonable Hyundai hybrid, I will immediately head over to Eckert and buy it. I hate car salesmen with a passion, but I really liked these guys.

The Greatest

I wish they had the car I wanted, Mark Eckerd responded to my Edmonds quote request within an hour and Jeff Eckerd wrote next asking me to work with him. The deal was great and meeting Jeff was very pleasant and respectful of me and my time. He appraised my trade in 10 minutes and we had a deal noted well within 45 min. Our only problem was they did not have the car I wanted and the 2011’s were coming to the end of production so very few are around. This is one of the best experiences I have had in buying over 40 cars.

Wonderful Experience! Doug is AWESOME!!

My family and I love Doug Peyton and all the crew at Eckert Hyundai. He is both professional and personable. He made the whole experience so easy and actually fun! Buying a car is usually a beating, but they were so good to us I'm sure when it's time to get my husband a new car, we'll be calling Doug! The finance guys are awesome as well. They got us a much better rate than we thought we could get. They worked hard to get us a good deal and we will be sending everyone we know to Doug Peyton at Eckert Hyundai!

Waste of Time

I was completely disappointed with our experience at Eckert Hyundai. When the owner, Mark Eckert, responded to our inquiries for a new car, I was impressed. During our conversation, he went to great lengths to explain how ethical they were. Mark sent me a quote in writing and said he would absolutely stand by it. I was ready to buy the car the next day when we visited the dealership. During my conversation with Mark, he told me the car was on order, but that if I didn't mind waiting 10 days he would have exactly what I was after at the price he quoted. All I needed to do was come in and put down a deposit. The next day we came to the dealership ready to buy the car. Mark was there and visible in his office, but he never came out to shake my hand or introduce himself. We were put with the fleet manager. The first order of business was for the fleet manager to tell us what a disaster his daughter was. The conversation, peppered with "F" bombs went on for quite some time despite my efforts to redirect him toward selling us a car. Finally, we gave him the keys to our trade to get an appraisal. After two and a half hours, he came back saying they were unable to find the quote mark had sent me. I told him it was on a web mail account and I could produce it for him...and I did. Thirty minutes later he came out with a price that was $1100.00 higher than the quote, no appraisal and telling us this was the best he could do. Mark had left the dealership for the day at this point. It was noon on Dec. 31st. The fleet manager told us this was not the day to be discussing a car that was not on the lot. Mark was the one who invited us in to discuss that very thing. All in all, after three hours, they totally wasted our time and did not honor their quote. I had been very concise with Mark about that quote and about the fact that it would be for a car on order. I wanted it all straight before I went in. Don't waste your time here. For all their rambling about honesty and ethics, I saw no indication of either honesty or ethical behavior.

You're crazy if you go elsewhere!

My wife and I went to look at the 2011 Tuscon. I am a former car salesman so I know how the entire process works and I was ready to beat my salesman up to get that "fair deal". I had my laptop with me and knew the figures I wanted to be at and had my payment calculated. Imagine my surprise when the numbers Curtis Hall came back with were the numbers I was ready to battle for. He took all the fun out of it, lol. Anyway, this dealership really is different, they offer a very fair price right off the bat..... what a concept!

Just purchased a Sonata. Great Experience. Negotiated with Jeff over e-mail and the phone. He did a great job and I got a good deal. Everyone seemed very nice at the dealership. Pleasantly surprised. When I'm in the market again for a car, wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Highly recommended dealership!

We would highly recommend Eckert Hyundai of Denton. They took wonderful care of us when we bought our new Veracruz about a month ago. We hate buying a new car - we've had too many other bad experiences with other dealerships. This was one of only two car buying experiences that we actually enjoyed and felt peaceful about once driving off the dealership lot. John Wester, our sales person, was very personable, helpful and honest. He was patient with us and excellent with communication. He wasn't one of those high-pressure sales people. He took great care of us from start to finish. We appreciate the way Eckert gives you their bottom-line pricing. We did our research beforehand and their pricing was right in line with what we were hoping for. There wasn't any haggling - gotta love that! During our buying/test driving experience, we also came in contact with Mike Barham (sales manager), Doug Peyton (salesman/fleet) & James Colman (financing). They were all so helpful & friendly (as were other staff members). We've never owned a Hyundai before, but so far we're really enjoying our new Veracruz. Thanks Eckert!!

Excellent Experience

I purchased a 2009 Santa Fe from Eckert Hyundai in January 2010. I was very pleased with the entire experience, recommend the dealership to others, and would purchase from them again. My wife and I went shopping for a SUV for herself. We looked at the offerings of several manufacturers. When we stopped by Eckert Hyundai on a Saturday we were greeted by Jeff Eckert who patiently let us drive 3 vehicles. We were impressed with the Santa Fe's ride and, of course, the excellent factory waranty and the fact that there was none of that worthless add-on crap that a lot of dealers include and want a ridiculous amount of money for (this last point is very important - I will not deal with those that add on crap). We explained that we were just looking and might call back although I was pretty sure we would go with the Hyundai. Jeff explained that he was expecting a big shipment of Santa Fe's soon and thanked us for stopping by. I asked him to give me a call when they arrived. To my amazement, there was absolutely no pressure applied on us to buy! A couple of days later I went to the Hyundai website. I configured a vehicle like I wanted and sent it to Eckert Hyundai for a quote. I quickly received a quote that was 7% off the MSRP and had an additional $2500 off due to a factory rebate. This amounted to over $4000 off the MSRP which for a ~$23,000 automobile amounted to a lot. The Santa Fes came in about a week later. We had many to choose from. My wife selected one and the email quote was honored. There was no haggling. We dealt with the finance guy (more on that later), the car was prepped, Jeff patiently went over the literature (owner's manual, etc.), and we drove off into the sunset happy as could be. There were only two quibbles I might share. The first was some initial confusion about whether the 2.7L V6 had a chain or a belt (it has a belt) but this was quickly resolved. The second involved the finance guy who I basically enjoyed interacting with but at the point when I was about to settle on a finance percentage rate suddenly raised his voice, struck a dramatic pose over the telephone, index finger stuck out ready to dial, and basically insinuated that to drive away without 'gap insurance' would be the stupidest thing since Napoleon Bonaparte sold Louisiana for only 3 cents an acre, and that he could save me from a lifetime of disgrace by calling a 'buddy' and saving the day. It was truly a remarkable performance and I don't really fault him for it (he's just trying to make a buck) but it got a little annoying when he persisted for another 30 seconds or so after I clearly told him 'No' three or four times. Soon the matter was permanently dropped. (Incidentally, with the good deal I got and from research I did with Kelley Blue Book there may in fact be no 'gap'). To conclude: I have purchased 6 new cars in my life. This experience was far and away the best. I can't imagine it getting much better. I highly recommend Eckert Hyundai.

Terrible, do not go here!!!

Spent $700+ to get the gas tank fixed, and conveniently when the car was picked up it started dying randomly, which it had never done before. After bringing it back, they said they werent the reason and we apparently put bad gas in it coencidentaly literaly less than a mile from the dealership. They didn't acctually test the gas, for that would of cost us money. When I called to speak to Mark Eckert himself, he actually hung up the phone on me. Then when I went up there to talk to him, he "stepped out". When explaining my frustration to the Service Center guy, another employee actually laughed at me, and they refused to help. If you buy a car or get it serviced anywhere, I strongly recommend it not be here

I called and ask about the Genesis's that were in stock. I spoke to one of the two brothers that own the dealership. He gave me a price over the phone ($4000 off MSRP) and we made an appointment. When we got there he introduced us to one of the salesmen. We test drove the car (the price was already settled per the phone conversation and they kept their word with no drama). Easy, quick, and pleasant. I secured a 0% loan at finance (I was going to pay cash but couldn't turn down 0%, a promotion from Hyundai). The only negative was an attempt to sell me an overpriced extended warranty at finance that wasn't backed by Hyundai but was from a third party. I said "No thank you" and the deal was done.

Lemons

DO NOT buy anything from these dealers, I bought a Mazda from them and not two weeks later, it broke down. The first garage we took it to said the engine was completely shot, and that it was a pre-existing condition. When we took the car to a Mazda garage, the mechanic there said the same thing, and he also informed us that someone else brought in a Protoge they bought from Eckert Hyundai that had a pre-existing condition as well. I would NOT suggest this dealership to anyone! Don't be cheated out of $2,000 like we were! Go somewhere else!
