Ruined my birthday

by Tshani1 on 01/22/2019

I had been looking to buy a new car as a birthday gift for myself. Went in to palomino motors to test drive a 2014 x3, immediately fell in love with it, however there was an issue with the rear camera (error displayed rear camera malfunction). They agreed to take it to bmw to have it fixed. I also took it into my mechanic for a look over. He found two other possible issues which they said they would have bmw take care of as well. This was all on Friday so we agreed to finalize everything on Monday. Received a call from the sales lady Saturday morning informing me that another customer called in inquiring about about the vehicle and wanted to make sure I was serious about buying it so they can remove from online and let that person know its pending sale. Later that night I check the site and the car was still listed they only changed the price(higher) ??? Fast forward to Monday.. I texted my sales rep at 9 that morning to inform the bank was actually closed for the day (in observance of MLK day) and we'll need to plan for first thing Tuesday (my actual bday). That was fine as I thought it would be kind of cool to buy a car for my bday ON my bday! She emailed me the bill of sale and that was it. But then I recieved a call from her that afternoon letting me know the car is back from bmw but they didn't fix the camera issue becuase it was too much and the owner /manager or whoever didn't want to spend the money. I requested they take some money off the purchase price and I'd still buy it and get if fixed on my own. She couldnt authorize that but she'd have the owner/manager call me. He called a few hours later saying he's not going to fix it nor is he willing to lower the purchase price. I even told him to meet me in the middle, the repair was apparently $800 so I asked if he could AT LEAST come down $400. Nope he wouldnt budge, went on to say that if he did that he wouldn't be making much of a profit on the vehicle and he could just sell it at the auction (or someone else) .. Like wtf really. I think they were trying to deter me from purchasing the car and back out the deal becuase someone wanted to buy the car at the raised list price the website was now showing. Long story long palomino RUINED my birthday. They have nice looking cars and pretty good reviews online but I would never do business with them after this upset nor would I refer them to anyone I know. I mean come on guys we had an agreement /understanding. I'm sure $400 is not going to break the bank. It's really unfortunate this happened to me.
