Good service but not very motivated

A few weeks ago we suffered a total loss of an excellent vehicle that safely and comfortably fit us and our 5 children. We searched tirelessly for almost 2 weeks to find a fair deal that might be the perfect fit for our family. When we went to look at the vehicle we were surprised to find that multiple headrests, 4 actually, were missing. While there were also some other things missing from the car, the headrests seem like a very important peice of the van in that they provide a safety feature that could cause harm without them in the event of a wreak. We were quoted a price for replacement and the salesman was happy to oblige, even saying that he could "take" the headrests out of the other model on the lot even though the color didn't match up. I couldn't get over the idea that this would leave some other poor family, most likely also with a tribe of children, with a slightly less safe vehicle. Would they replace them for the other family? This just didn't seem like something that embodied good integrity on the behalf of the dealer or salesman. I was discouraged that they were gonna sell me a used vehicle for around $24,000 but yet wouldn't jump at the opportunity to replace a few headrests for 100$ each. Ultimately they decided they would pay for the 4 headrests but definitely not the remote for the factory RES (that was another 100$ and I suppose it would be really stretching it) On a good note, he did get the car ready for us before we got there. It was ready to drive and he told us to take it for a half hour or so. I do really appreciate it when they can allow you to test drive vehicles without hanging over your shoulder, although sometimes it is convenient to have the salesman with you for questions. Ultimately I felt like we weren't very valued as a customer. I felt llike our sale didn't even matter much to them. Maybe the used car sales don't bring much income for them but when I have to experience buying a car I want the salesman and the manager to make it a pleasant experience. I want to feel important and like my buisness counts. They just seemed uninterested overall. But I must say that the service department seemed extremely friendly and more concerned about us. Just the attitude they used in greeting us, shaking our hand, and smiling, telling us if we needed anything to let him know was refreshing for us that day. Needless to say we werent very happy with the car or the overall experience and we decided to take our buisness elsewhere.
