Horrible customer service

by Disappointed on 03/17/2024

Worse customer service in 30yrs from anyone, work not complete at all but said my vehicle was ready for pick and they had my vehicle for days. Damaged my vehicle while in service, fighting to not cover warranty work etc

2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 purchase @ McElveen GMC in SC

by MikeGaynor on 01/19/2024

Purchasing my 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV at McElveen was the BEST ever car purchasing experience I have ever had! Michael Broadhead was just outstanding to deal with. Extremely professional and well informed. I have been on the Hummer waiting list for over 2 years. When I went to the GMC dealership where I had my original reservation, they tried to sell me their Demo with a $40K 'Market adjustment'. I was not comfortable with that at all. I started looking elsewhere and came across a listing for McElveen. Not only did I get exactly the Hummer I wanted McElveen didn't even try to include any market adjustments. They told me they don't do that to their customers. Well - they have a new customer for life. Thank you Michael & the whole McElveen team - absolutely outstanding customer support!! 5+ Stars in my book!

No Hassle Service

by AdonisJink on 03/02/2023

Jennifer Crank went ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure my vehicle was serviced. She showed her human side and compassion to ensure the issue was resolved. No hassle experience. I was able to leave on time to make my meeting in Columbia safely all due to her excellent customer service. You don’t find too many people who give this kind of customer service. Thank you again Jennifer. I’m still bragging to my friends and family about how you treated me.

McElveen service department.

by Kathy🥵 on 10/13/2022

On October 10, Buick maintenance took the windshield wiper pump off to check the rear sprayer, neglected to put it “back together”, lost the fluid cap on the container as well, then said the earliest appointment to at least make it operational was the 29!

VERY RUDE

by Very Mad on 03/06/2021

Drove over an hour to get there to look at a used truck wanted to trade a 2017 Chevy duramax on a 2015 GMC duramax wanted 50,000 for their truck with 30k more miles then on my truck and they told me that they would give me 37,000 for my truck so I asked for my keys and then the sales manager came in and was very rude to my wife and said we did not know how to do math because that was a great deal I then asked for my keys again and the manager jump up and said he didn’t need our business

Shady

by Rromant on 04/30/2019

This dealership really tired to lowball me on a trade in. I looked up the KBB value for a fair to average trade before I went in, and had other dealers look at the car for me. Don't waste your time.

Great Dealership

by Doug kearns on 10/17/2018

We stopped in to look at trading our 2013 GMC PICKUP towards a newer truck (2016-17) but left with a brand new truck that we leased! It’s beautiful and it was a really great experience dealing with John , Randy & the finance department. Friendly, helpful & willing to find us the perfect fit for our needs... especially financial!

Very upset and taken advantage of, this dealership is scaming people!BEWARE

by Lyndsey F on 06/19/2018

I am only giving a 1 star because I can't give any less! We bought out vehicle here in 2013 and have been loyal customers and have come to this dealership for all our needs on our vehicle. We had the vehicle taken in recently for work and was told that it was due to two censors needing to be replaced. We were told by Candy that it was not covered under our powertrain warranty and would have to pay out of pocket. Fine, we paid for the work. My husband picks up the car and drives home and here's a loud sound while driving. Pulls over and opens the hood, and they haven't screwed back in our air filter, little mistake yes , but really? Take your time! We are told every time our vehicle is there we will get a complimentary car wash....NOPE! I have already made a complaint as well for something that was missing in my vehicle. The manager I spoke to was very friendly and professional and showed empathy but of course nothing can be done. We just didn't feel right about the situation so we know someone at another GM location who searched the codes for the work we had done.......would you believe that all the work we had done was actually ALL COVERED UNDER OUR POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. And if we would have taken it the other location would have paid $0.00 for all services other than our oil change! Tech's are paid based on the job and make more on work not covered under warranty! This is highly disturbing and they can be trusted. I want my money back and we are currently in the process of talking to management, we will never give them our business again.

DO NOT BUY HERE!!! POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!

by ssgould on 05/03/2011

We had a decent experience until we met with the finance manager Howard. He was very rude and tried to sell us an 8.5% interest rate when we qualified for 0% and he also would not honor the GM employee pricing. Howard also left out the fact that we were eligible for an Employee Vehicle Allowance of $1500. We found out after we signed the paperwork and our own research that we would qualify for the EVA. General Manager Lacie said they would send us a check for $1500 2 weeks ago and we are still waiting for the check. They do not return phone calls and are very rude when you're finally able to contact them.

Don't buy here!

by overabarrell on 12/05/2010

I moved to Summerville, South Carolina in 2001. After the birth of my second child my husband and I found it necessary to upgrade to a larger car/SUV/Van. McElveen was on our list of dealers to look at. Being from a GM family, we went there first. These guys clearly do not sell to mainstream folks. They are not willing to negotiate at all. When they found out that we were eligible for a GM Discount, they kindly told us we couldn't get it? Um, what??? So we drove out of state, to our hometown and did business there. We bought a GMC Yukon. Since we were limited on dealerships that could service our Yukon in the area, we went back. Another mistake. The service department is slow and extremely unprofessional. Do yourself a favor, make the drive to Columbia or elsewhere for your purchases and/or services. Worst experience from a dealership and I've purchased several new and used cars from dealers!

BUYER BEWARE!

by vjh1 on 08/27/2010

BUYER BEWARE! On 6/24/10 we were told by Mr. Dave Lawhorn, Service Manager of McElveen to give him the paperwork and the dealership would send a check for $598.00 and send it right out to us. The next day on 6/25/10 I even called him to make sure he had all the proper documentation to process our check. He replied when I had him on the phone "I got the paperwork and have already given to my Accounts Payable person so you can get paid just like we agreed." Almost a month went by and still no payment. I called Mr. Dave Lawhorn. He said "Send me the paperwork again. They (Accounts Payable) must have lost track of it". I resent on 7/20/10 and the next day Mr. Lawhorn said he got it. Thirty days latter, no payment! I called and asked for the Accounts Payable person who I found out was Ms. Ashley Parker. Ms. Parker asked me to send her the paperwork. She did confirm she got it and would give me an answer in a day or so. 15 days latter no payment or even a call from her. Now 2 months latter Ms. Parker and Mr. Lawhorn will not even take my phone call or return my voicemail. IS THIS THE COMPANY YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR FAMILY'S 2ND LARGEST PURCHASE FROM?

horrible

by oceanclub on 02/01/2008

If you take your car for service, you can almost guarantee that it won't be ready when they tell you. The last time I went there, I took it in at 11 am and I asked the guy if it would be ready for me to be at work by 2. Now I understand they can get backed up and if I didnt think it would be ready, he could have just said so and I would have brought it back the next day. He said he could have me in within 20 minutes so I decided to just wait and browse the lot while they work on it. 45 minutes later, my car is still in the parking lot. I asked the service guy what the deal was. "Oh my other technicians are at lunch right now but they will be back shortly. Give me about 15 more minutes". Another hour went by and my car was still in the same spot where I parked it. By this time, I am getting fairly annoyed and I asked the guy why he promised my car would be in the shop within 20 minutes, and now two hours later, nobody has touched it. He then gives me what I consider a fake apology and says he will get someone right on it. He went in the back and I dont think he realized I could hear him because he told his mechanic "would you please hurry up and get that car in here so this lady will stop hounding me?" I didnt say anything because I didnt want to make a scene but I was very upset but I havent even gotten to the worst part yet. So he finally got the car in and 15 minutes later, he asks me if I can leave the car with him overnight. I flipped out on him at this point and told him

the hardest people to understand the word no

by oceanclub on 02/01/2008

I never bought a car from them but I have had had it there for service and I would never buy a vehicle from them. The salesman are extremely high pressure. I was just browsing the lot while getting work dine on my car and the guy comes up to me and says "That's a really nice car, isnt it?" I said yea and he says he could get me a real good deal on it. I said I was only looking around while my car was in the shop, I am not interested in buying. So he asks me what my beacon score is because they have all this special financing available. I told him it was none of his business because I wasn't buying the car. He then asks me where my car is and tells me he can have it appraised and they will pay me top dollar to trade it in. I told him he will not do anything with my car because I am not trading. He then asks if I owe money on it. I told him again that's none of his business because I am not trading the car in. He then said that if my car was in the shop now, I was likely to have a lot more problems later on and I should trade it in now. I finally told him to leave me alone. I am not buying a car. He finally backed off but handed me a card. I tore it up right in front of him. He gave me a real nasty look and then walked back inside. I saw him talking to another guy and pointing at me.
