Not a Great Experience

I contacted Stokes Honda about a CR-V Hybrid they had advertised on their website. Was initially told “it it here waiting for you”. Slow to respond to questions and to provide pricing info. Began negotiations on price, to be told that the car was not there. It was a part of a partnership promotion and would not be available for several weeks. Attempted to continue negotiations, but had great difficulty in getting responses. Finally talked to a sales manager and got a take or leave it price. He was going to get back to me “tomorrow morning “ almost 2 days ago.

No integrity, no courage

I had a $2300 repair (rear bank piston rings) completed in October of 2019 at Stokes Honda North. I was given a 12,000 mile/12-month warranty for the work. My radiator coolant leaked out of the rear bank after four months, 8,000 miles, a new repair close to $1500. There's far more detail to the story, but suffice it to say, even though Stokes agreed the warranty was valid, they refused to honor their commitment. I reached out to the service manager, opened a case to American Honda (upon Stokes request), and provided a format letter to their owner to communicate my dissatisfaction. They never cared, made no attempt to negotiate or make the situation right, just the proverbial middle finger. In my 20 years of service, I learned one of the greatest measurements of a person or a company was how they respond to a situation that is not easy or does not have fanfare. This is a courage, doing the right thing, even if not the easy thing or nobody is watching you do it. This company has no courage, no honor, and no more of my business.

don't go here, they lie

Is there a way to give a "0" star rating, because they do not even deserve 1 star. Stokes Honda is a lying, deceitful company. Their sales representative intentionally lied to us over and over again regarding their products that I unfortunately purchased. Their claim to fame is a "standout experience" (as it is located all of their website). My experience there was standout, for sure, because it was the worst experience I have ever had with a dealership. The amount of time and effort, sleepless nights, frustration, anxiety and stress Stokes Honda has caused me and my family is downright wrong. I also reached out to one of the Stokes family members, Eddie and the General Manager requesting a legitimate response to my issues (which I provided a thorough email detailing each and every issue), and neither one of them had the courtesy to respond. So I am assuming that since one of the Stokes family members could not even take the time to respond, that this is also a direct reflection on all Stokes dealerships.... as they say, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree."

First Service for my Ridgline

The Ridgeline was delivered to the dealership for its first service. Service was handled by Heather who took in all details of my comments, The Ridgeline was returned on time and all concerns finished to my satisfaction. Heather did a great job in assisting on this visit.

Incredible Service

We had a honda pilot with a warranty issue regarding the valve rings. Travis, Mark and Harry were wonderful in dealing with our unusual issue and put in 110% to make it right. I can not be more grateful for all they did to take care of the problem. They say the will treat you like family and they did!

Overall easiest and best car purchase experience

I don't like to haggle over small numbers when I buy a car and usually ask each dealership to provide me with there best out-the-door price. Some dealerships will not entertain this approach but most will. This time Stokes was the clear winner with a very fair price and the by far easiest buying experience I have ever experienced. James Jay, our salesperson was exceptional and not pushy and our finance person, Paul Madden, could not have provided a better experience. This was our second car purchased from Stokes in the last couple of years and we will continue to go to them in the future.

Outstanding Sales Support

We purchased a used car from Stokes Honda North as is with no warranty. After 3 weeks the front CV axel started clicking indicating it needed to be replaced. We brought the car back to Honda and they had the car repaired no questions asked and charged us nothing. They did not have to do that but they really stood behind their sales. On top of that they had told us they would try and find an extra key for the car. When they couldn't find the key they just sent us over to Ford for a free key. These guys really stand behind the cars they sell. I would buy again from Stokes Honda North.

Unpleased.. Never returning

The worst experience I've EVER had with any Honda dealership which is shocking because Honda typically has wonderful customer service. I took my vehicle to be serviced, and my intentions were to utilize the service plan that was purchased when I bought my car. When I purchased my vehicle I was advised that ANY Honda dealer would honor my service plan. Apparently, that is not the case with Stokes Honda, which is fine but the service center representative (Joey) was extremely rude with how he handled the situation. I advised him that I have a service plan on my vehicle that should cover the services that I requested that day and that every other dealership I've taken it to verifies by the VIN number. Initially, he stated that he just needed to contact my home dealership and verify the plan so I gave him the number to the dealership, my salespersons full name, and the date I purchased my vehicle. He verifies that I have a service plan with my home dealership then proceeds to tell me, "You have to take your car to Hendrick Honda...". We were also accused of agreeing to the services and their fees before the services were rendered (completely untrue as I have a SERVICE PLAN, therefore, I should not be coming out of pocket for routine oil changes and tire rotations). I grew frustrated with Joey's terrible customer service and ever changing stories and requested to speak with a manager. The manager (didn't catch his name, but thanks!) was very pleasant and did inform me that Stokes apparently has their own service plans that have to be purchased and utilized. I explained my situation.. he completely understood and waived the charges for the misunderstanding. I planned on visiting Stokes later this year to trade my vehicle in, however, I think I'll take Joey's advice and visit Hendrick Honda. Stokes is closer to my home which is why I was trying to give them a chance, but they failed. Hendrick has wonderful customer service and they honor my service plan like every other Honda dealer so it will definitely be worth the drive for me. Beware good people!

I love the Stokes Honda Service Center in North Charleton, SC

Bar none, Stokes Honda is the best service center I have ever encountered. Raymond, my trusted service rep, does a fantastic job keeping track of my vehicle service history and setting me up with my favorite mechanic, Robert, who is highly skilled and incredibly knowledgeable. One of the things that I like most about this Stokes Honda Service Center team is that they take the time to explain what needs to be done now and why, what needs to be done next and what can wait for a while. I have complete faith in my Honda "dream team"! I bought my Honda brand new from Stokes Honda in April, 2002. I have religiously taken this car in for scheduled maintenance every 5,000 miles. As a result, I am still driving the same Honda today! Even though this car has over 220,000 miles on it now, I cannot part with it because it is so economical to own and still in such good shape. After 14 years of daily driving, my Honda is remarkably dependable, looks good and still drives like a new car!

Horrible Service and Very Unprofessional

Long story short, they sold me a 2013 "Certified" Honda Civic that was previously wreck which didn't show up in the CarFax. After 2 days of ownership the Fender popped out which left a gap between the door and the fender itself. I came in to lower payments, traded in a 2015 Subaru WRX, and ended up with a lemon. When I came back they "already sold my WRX" and the only thing they could do is step me up into a new 2015 for a "really good price". Which at the end of the day wasn't because they sold me a new car that had some damage of the front bumper... They called me in several times after the deal to do more paperwork that they forgot. Bottom line I will never buy from this dealership again and most likely never buy a Honda again. (When I called to make a complaint about the front end damage to Honda they stood behind the dealership) P.S. The sales person informed me that my WRX was a different animal and told me he test drove it the night before the sale. Basically abusing a car they didn't own. (while I was testing the civic out for a day) Very unprofessional! Good luck to whoever buys from these [non-permissible content removed].

I wasted so much extra time

The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing !! They deposited my check two days early after confirming with 3 people that it will be deposited on Friday. This caused me to go into overdraft, and charged an overdraft fee. And then they tried to charge me the $30 for the bounced check fee when it was their fault. I spent so much extra time fixing their mistake and no one took ownership over it they all kept blaming it on somebody else. There are [non-permissible content removed] in all money hungry.

Great Experience!

My husband and I had been looking at various dealerships for a few weeks and are so happy that we bought our 2016 Honda CRV from Stokes Honda over the Christmas holidays! We always felt comfortable with the sales team and were very satisfied with how they took the time to answer all of our questions. I was wavering between different models/colors/years for a while and never felt rushed. They worked with us to help us get a monthly payment that we felt comfortable with and provided a great service plan that covers basically everything! Other dealerships we had looked at pressured us to "buy today" and we did not get a honest feeling, but we had the total opposite experience at Stoke's! My husband and I are loving our new CRV!

Terrible service for a simple oil change

I brought my car in for a simple oil change on 12/11/15. Almost three hours later they completed the simple oil change... Let me repeat that... Almost 3 hours later! First, it was a very light day there and I have waited behind a ton of people before at other dealerships and got finished in an hour and a half...so after I went to the waiting area, I sat and watched my car sit there for 40 minutes for no reason. Finally, the woman told me they couldn't start my car. This is due to I have the safety engine thing you have to swipe for it to turn on. It had fallen to the floor from being held by Velcro.... And yet the mechanics failed to see it or even ask me. Then it sat for another 20 minutes because they decided to have an all hands on deck meeting in the showroom which is inexcusable when you are open and have waiting customers.... Finally, my car went in and another almost hour went by for them to perform a simple oil change. They also told me I had a nail in my tire and I asked them to fix that... Another 30-40 minutes to fix that!! I have had a nail in a tire before and had it patched in 10 minutes... And an oil change 35-45 minutes is typical... My time was definitely not valued and I will never be back and have already told enough people about their incompetence with an oil change. If anyone goes there for one, be prepared to get a rental for the day ha.

Awful experience every time

I bought my car in 2012 and with it I bought a car care plan. I was a newbie and they took advantage of me. I go to the Stokes Honda on Rivers in Charleston for my oil changes and every single time I wait 2+ hours and every single time they tell me something is wrong with my car. I usually cant afford to pay their outrageous costs to replace this or refill that so I have to pass and look for help elsewhere. It turns out there wasn't anything wrong to begin with. Today, I come in at 9 am and wait for 5 minutes with not so much as an acknowledgement. I left and came back around 2 pm. Finally, someone helps me. I wait two hours for them to change my oil and then the man helping me tells me my battery is dangerously low and needs to be replaced. Okay, but I bought a new one not long ago. He leaves and comes back to tell me it was their battery originally so they will replace it with the warranty. COOL. Then he comes back after another 30 minutes of waiting to tell me the battery is actually fine and all that's left is paperwork. I ask what happened and he begins to treat me like a child. He is rude and talks down to me. I'm waiting at his desk and he leaves multiple times and doesn't explain whats going on. I'm frustrated and flustered and I just want to get the heck out of there. He tells me I can leave and he will give me a tire rotation for free. UHMMM It's already paid for by the plan I bought when I first purchased my car. He says I can go but doesn't give me a receipt. This is only one of many awful experiences I've had at this place. I'm extremely sorry I bought my car through them and I highly recommend going almost anywhere else but here.

My husband and I were notified as soon as the Hrv's arrived, and showed up within a few hours to purchase one (5/18/15). We got there at 4:30 and didn't get out of there until 10:30!-- yes, you read that correctly. It took 6 hours to buy a car from this place!! We have nearly perfect credit, and had a nice Honda to trade in, and still it took this long. We were promised a test drive for this car we were buying (obviously), and kept asking our salesman when that test drive was going to happen, and in the 6 hours that we were there, he NEVER came up with the keys!!!! He kept saying that they were in boxes in the back and he was waiting on a manager to bring them out, or he was having trouble getting his hands on them because the dealership was so busy, etc etc. So we were there for SIX hours and never got to test drive the car!!!! We have an 8yr old and a 2 yr old, and the wait for them was painful to say the least. Our 2 year old was given a balloon off of one of the cars by a very nice salesman, only to have Lyndon,( I believe a sales manager?) Literally follow us outside and TAKE THE BALLOON OUT OF MY KIDS HAND, because "those balloons were for the cars, not for children". He then handed him a deflated balloon to play with.... I don't need to say anything else about this incident, do I? Customer service at its finest... My husband and I were then promised a tank of gas for "our troubles" with that experience. Moving on.. We had to schedule an appointment 2 weeks later to get the windows tinted, mud flaps put on, wheel locks installed, cargo tray added, and for the car to be detailed, as these things were included in the sales price, but hadn't been done at the time of purchase. We had an appointment for 8:30 am. I dropped my car off at 8:00, and was told that it would take NO MORE than 3 hours tops to finish the work, and that I would get a phone call when the car was ready. Fast forward to 3:00 pm, I had to call the dealership FOUR times before I was finally able to get in touch with someone dealing with my car. I was told that the car was just completed at 3:15….not 11:30 as promised. I was then dropped back off at the dealership to pick up my car. Our salesman, Don (who was supposed to be handling this scheduled work) then came up to me and said that they were so sorry, but the car wasn't ready yet, and while I was there, he wanted to know if I ever got insurance on the car... Wait, WHAT?!? We had had the car for 2 weeks at that point... He then said he would go ahead and take the insurance info from me and finish the financing paperwork... OK, what?!?! TWO HOURS after I arrived at the dealership, my husband showed up and demanded my car be brought to us, and that this was absolutely unacceptable. They then started saying that the car wasn't finished, and to bring it back for another detail when we wanted. When they brought the car back to me it had a HUGE scratch on the passenger door, and huge spots of rough wax that hadn't been polished off..it looked terrible! So after 9 hours, I got some tinted windows and a scratched up car.. The NEXT week, my husband showed up to ask why our trade in had not been paid off yet, and to ask when we were supposed to be getting our loan info for the new car... Get ready for this.. Our salesman said "It's funny that you bring that up, because I'm working on that right now...we actually lost your payoff information." WHAT?!?! Fast forward to today, Monday June 15th, and I still have NO loan/payment information, and my trade in is STILL not paid off, per my bank. At this point, I just want to drop this car off and get my old one back , and I would NEVER set foot in this place again. All of this being said, NO managers or supervisors have reached out to us, no one even cares. The ONLY person who has reached out to us, is an AMAZING salesman, Darnell. He has tried to go above and beyond to try to keep us happy, and he isn't even our salesman!!! If you've read this to this point, thank you, I really needed to get this out.

I had been looking for a dealer here since moving from Atlanta where I had a long standing relationship with my Honda dealer. I felt very good about the treatment that I received and the work that was done on my warranty repair. I would gladly recommend them as my son in law gladly recommended them to me !
