Horrible uninformed salesman

by Hank Wil on 12/13/2023

I bought a new 2023 Escape at the end of November 2023. Since Manderbach has sent me three emails asking for a review - here you go. Sometimes you get what you want. I did all my research ahead of time - had my vehicle picked out and did the finance pre-approval. So, when I went in to the dealership-all the young salesman had to do was the paperwork. No salesmanship, no haggling, probably the easiest commission he could make. I showed up and started signing papers. On one paper, I noticed that the dealership took it upon themselves to renew my license plate/registration - which was not due for another two months. I told the finance lady that I was getting a new plate for the vehicle and did not want to pay for a renewal of the old plate. She told me that I would easily get a refund from PENNDOT. Not true, which I did not find out until a few days later when I called PENNDOT. I guess she didnt want to redo the paperwork, so I paid for a two year registration that is being replaced in a month. We then set up pickup for the next day. That evening, the young salesman told me that he discovered that the vehicle had been used as a "loaner" and pickup of the vehicle would be delayed. He did not offer any kind of discount until I expressed concern about the loaner status. I ended up getting a paltry 6 month extension on the vehicle warranty. Well, we finally get to the day of vehicle pickup. The salesman pretty well tossed me the keys and said "any questions" as we stood outside the new vehicle. I had to ask him to review some of the features, given the technology and computer screen. This ill informed salesman had no idea about the vehicle features. He fumbled through some of the dash computer screens and even "discovered" that the vehicle had a safe installed in the glove box. The young lad apparently put no time or effort into vehicle prep. I finally told him that I would figure out the vehicle features on my own. A day later, I was having problems since the vehicle did not come with a hard copy manual-Ford allegedly no longer provides paper manuals. I emailed the young lad. Three days later-no reply. I had to call the sales manager who politely listened and gave cavalier and obiviously indifferent replies to my inquiries. I head back to the dealership and I watch the young salesman scurry away like a mouse. I instead deal with the finance lady who makes a feeble attempt at reviewing the vehicle features-admitting she was not sure how to operate the features. We had to go into her office and print off instructions for the safe operation since our wonderful salesman did not provide the information. I then pointed out that the vehicle window sticker listed a front license plate bracket as a free feature and that it was missing. So the finance lady looks under the seats and in the rear for the bracket. She then goes to the parts department and implies that I would have to mount the bracket myself. No. So - there you go. I have spent over $100K in vehicles off Manderbach over the past few years (as told to me by the giddy salesman who made a commission for doing nothing). I experienced the worse car salesmanship (or lack thereof) that I can ever remember. So - young Ryan - maybe familiarize yourself with the product you are selling. So - sales manager - maybe be a bit more proactive when a longtime customer expresses concern. So - finance lady - educate yourself on PENNDOT registration rules so you dont screw someone else out of $100 registration fees. I will be going to other local Ford dealers in the future thanks to this failure by the staff of Manderbach. There's your requested review Manderbach Ford. Merry Christmas.

A plus always

Great folks to deal with. Even though I didn't buy my car at Manderbach, I feel I get treated the same as someone who buys a new car every year.

The service tech came out to me and also showed me what they found before they do anything with it with out the customer knowing. I recommend them to get vic done and all.

NOT FOR SPEEDY SERVICE

by Easy Going Customer on 01/06/2023

Based on my recent experience with this dealership, I DO NOT RECOMMEND them if you need a speedy repair. Manderbach does not seem able to quickly procure parts in an emergency. They don't seem to understand the difference between Standard Overnight (no guarantee, delivery late in day) and Priority Overnight (guarantee, morning delivery). When part ordered for my repair was lost by FedEx, Manderbach failed to quickly start a parallel/replacement order to ensure timely completion of the repair. Rather, they just sat on their hands. Manderbach's official line is, we can't control when parts get here. But in reality, shipper selection and shipping speed selection is entirely within their control. Also, they have the power to check tracking and take corrective action when something goes wrong with a shipment. As our nightmare interaction with Manderbach was wrapping up, it appeared as if they were billing for services which had not been performed, so my boss engaged them in a discussion about the bill, with the goal of getting the bill corrected. When I took the vehicle to go get lunch as the billing matter was being hashed out, they threatened to call the police - although there was no threat on our part to not pay the bill. My vehicle was at Manderbach for four days. I got a bill for about $1800 and I got partial disassembly and reassembly with no resolution of the principal problem. The service advisor I dealt with was extremely young and inexperienced and was not able to provide useful or timely information regarding the specifics of the problems with my vehicle. If you have a downtime problem that requires a speedy repair, I suggest you speak to other repair shops before you resort to Manderbach Ford. This should be your last resort if you need a speedy repair. I do not recommend Manderbach Ford.

Salesman lied constantly, threatened me, threw chair across showroom

by Dusty49 on 01/22/2022

My grandmother had recived a pamphlet in the mail two days ago from Manderbach Ford about a big sale they were having until Saturday Jan. 22. Just a few days away, in this pamphlet was a voucher for $2,000 down on a used vehicle. Attached to this pamphlet was similar to a scratch off ticket, on this ticket was a winning match for $5,000 cash (I'm assuming this is supposed to be towards a addition to the down payment, but not sure). My Grandmother knowing I've been looking at trucks for a few months now gave me the pamphlet, I looked online to see if there was any thing I was interested in, and saw a 2020 Ram 1500 that I liked. So we decided to drive over and take a look. We got to the dealership and we were met by a salesman named Martin from Amarillo Texas. I asked him about the truck and he sat us down he grabbed another pamphlet same as what was sent to my grandmother, added the $2,000 voucher to the other voucher that was recived in the mail so that there was $4,000 down, no mention of the 5,000 cash from the scratch off. On three multiple occasions I asked Martin what the price of the truck was and he told me each time we will figure it out, my grandmother also asked the same questions at least twice with the same answer. He asked me questions so that pricing could be made up. He asked me to sign the paper stating that "by signing here all it is saying is that the information written down is correct". So I signed and he walked off to get pricing together. Mind you I visited another dealer on Monday and they asked me the same question and informed me that by law in pa dealers are supposed to give u a average pricing idea on what people are paying on new and used vehicles based on the past month. So while Martin was away I received a notification on my phone from credit karma stating that credit was ran. When I saw this I was not happy because I did not say he could run my credit, I knew what credit union I wanted to use and no one else. While Martin way away I grabed a blank form that he filled out and took a good look at it and finally saw the fine print saying that my signature allowed them to run my credit, so Martin lied straight to my face, it was my fault that for not looking at the fine print but I expected to have the respect of not being lied to. When Martin returned I kept my cool and Martin said that my rates would be really high and mentioned that the credit union I wanted to look at was good and I replied with "yes, that's who I wanted to go through" so Martin scurried back in to the fish bowl. I should of known then and there to leave but I didn't. So while I waited, my credit was ran 5 more times, each time I got angrier and angrier. Now I consider myself a calm person but now I felt like I was being pushed around, and being used. Now I still kept my cool when he returned but when he told me I would have a 600 some payment at a ridiculous rate. Then he said the last straw he said that the price of the truck was $60,000. Now I don't remember exactly what I said at this moment but Martin replied saying "you never asked me for the price". My response was "I asked you three seperate times" now my voice was raised and clearly annoyed. The second flat out lie that he told me, he asked why I was upset. I cursed alittle saying "you told me that by signing that paper it was only to state my information was correct not to run my [non-permissible content removed] credit." His response was "that is not what I said" a third lie to try and cover the first. I swore two more times about how he ran my credit explained about the law the other dealer told me about. He tried to give excuse after excuse saying he doesn't run the credit the people in office do. He said I told him to "run the credit" I said no I didn't. He said "yes you told me to run the credit union" which I did but I did not tell him to run it the first time when he tricked me into it and the 4 other times I did not say to I said do the said credit union but they kept going. He said "it was only ran 4 times" I said "yes 4 more times after the credit union that's 6 total". He kept making excuses saying why is that a problem. I said "because it lowers my credit score". As a salesman he is well aware of it and tried to play it down saying it's "only 2 points", well what's 2x6. Finally he stated that he "didn't curse once and that I have multiple times" "you are embarrassing your Grandmother". I looked at my grandmother and had enough. I was on the verge of crying and now he's dragging my grandmother into it. I regret what I said next and apologize for it, it just blutted out through all of the anger and being upset. I responded with [non-permissible content removed] you, I will never forget what happened next I got up started to walk away and Martin replied and I quote "you are lucky I'm not the person I once was, or else I would knock you onto the floor". He stood up, I proceeded to walk and Martin threw a chair across the showroom floor. I am greatly displeased with my experiance and with my self for my last comment. After we left my grandmother told me how proud of me she was for standing up to him. She knows how quiet and calm of a person I am, and how easily I let people push me around. Management will be contacted.
