too pushy

by go_figure on 06/19/2016

Ron I believe was the salesman's name... I feel as though he didn't listen to me at all..... My car had just been pronounced totaled exactly one week ago as of yesterday. Yesterday was when I went to the dealer to test drive. At the age of 19... I graduated college... Got a decent job for experience just not pay... I got my first newer car at Blue Knob Auto Sales.. They were beyond great listened to everything I wanted was a great experience. My heart was so set on this red Hondacivic coupe... I worked three jobs to get that car while I was 19... But I got what I wanted. When my car was totaled because of someone else driving my car and wrecking it... This is beyond devastating to me... That car is replaceable... But what it represented to me was not. I lost everything I had as a kid to bank ruptcy twice.. When I became an adult I always swore I'd never lose something again... That car was proof that I took my situation from 17 years old having nothing to making something of myself.. Working hard and having something nice for me. I wanted to test drive... I planned to spend a whole day test driving so I could find out what vehicle will be comfortable to me and not end up with something that makes me even more devastated that my civic was totaled... I test drove a 2017 mirage hatch and a sadan... That was it... That was all I got to test drive. Because I felt the sadan was nice Ron insisted I walk out of there with that car... Even when I suggested trying out a green 2015 used that only had a few thousand miles.. I didn't even get to test drive anything used because he insisted I buy one brand new. I understand I won't get a 2017 brand new for 16k... But I'm okay getting something used if its comfortable and feels like the best decision to me. He told me " you know... You won't find a better deal than this... And we don't pressure here... But if you were my kid I'd want what's best for you and that deal is what's best for you" I simply said what happened to my car... How I'm devastated and what it represented to me and what I'm looking for... Instead of suggesting options and helping me to test drive other options than just the mirage... He insisted that I not leave and get the car on my name immediately when my car loan hasn't even been paid off by my insurance yet and I told Ron that I didn't feel comfortable buying one right away until my insurance finishes out my claim. He told me if Iwant tthat car in a week from now the prices might go up and blah blah blah and I simply said sir... Money isn't my issue... If I end up paying an extra $15 a month then so be it... I'd rather take my time and know when I find the right car I'm makingthe best cchoice for me. He said "well since I can't help you anymore and you want to leave you're not coming back. Only 10% of people who leave without buying come back. So it was nice meeting you have a good day" as he walked away. During all of this and him trying to pursuade me to that one choice... I sat there for almost 2 hours in that seat while he also insist we do something immediately for that car because the banks were about to close and other dealers would be closing... I felt as though he intentionally held me up for so long with the intentions of me not having other options anywhere else. I felt it was very rude. If he would have from the get go insist on showing me other cars and other options... Better models... Like genuinely work for my business then I would have felt way more comfortable working with five star... The other sales people there were so nice and kind when I heard them talking with other people... But Ron was way too pushy... Inconsiderate of my situation and what my car represented to me before someone else totaled the thing I worked so hard for over the last few years until I landed on job that pays well. He insisted the numbers were better than I could find anywhere else. He underestimated me... I do accounting for a living I run numbers every day.... And I know a good deal when I see one but u also know you get what you pay for too so being cautious about my decision. At the end of it rather than saying "I hopeyou come back hhere's my card.. If you find any other cars you like and if we have anything on our lot compared to what you find maybe we can work out a deal" he insisted oh well no sense in wasting any more of my time you're not coming back so have a good day... Left a bad taste in my mouth. Five star Mitsubishi has a great reputation but a man like that made me not even want to takemy business there. That was aweful. I will continue with Blue Knob... In the last hour and a half I did have blue knob was very sympathetic about what happened to my vehicle and they really worked to find me choices I've vehicles that fit my wants.. I was able to drive many many vehicles in a short period of time and think I found one but taking just a little more time... But if five star wants to keep old customers or bring in new customers they need to really look at how that man is treatingpeople who wall in those doors. On top of losing my car something that represented so much to me just a week prior I felt he didn't care what I wanted... I felt he just wanted a quick sale.. And it made me feel very uncomfortable buying from Mitsubishi even though so many people speak so highly of the vehicles I just didn't understand why this man could be so pushy for a new 2017 mirage rather than helping me with even newer but used vehicles in my price range. I left very disgusted. Everyone else I heard speaking with clients seemed so great the atmosphere was great at first but when he jumped in to "help" me it all just went down hill from there.

Customer and Auto Service

On July 1st, 2015, I was traveling through Ohio when my 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage made a horrible thrashing sound. Several weeks before, my air conditioning had failed and I had taken my car to the dealer in Altoona, PA, (Five Star Mitsubishi where I had purchased the vehicle). They had simply "band-aided" the problem, (after waiting for a week without air conditioning in 90 degree weather) got the air conditioning running, and sent me on my way. While making my way through Ohio to Pa, I called roadside assistance as I was traveling on I 80. I had approximately 200 miles to travel and there was no way that I could have done so. Roadside assistance towed my car to Brown Mitsubishi. The air conditioning compressor needed replaced and Brown Mitsubishi not only got my car repaired within 24 hours, but they also had a driver literally take me to a motel near the stores where I could get overnight supplies AND pick me back up the following day to my repaired car. I also had 3 grandchildren with me. When I got back to Altoona, I had taken my receipt for the motel to Five Star who was to help me with refunding the money for my motel. I also felt that they should have assisted a little more for the inconvenience of it all. However, a couple weeks later, I got a call and was told that the dealer in Toledo didn't follow protocol and Five Star felt that the Toledo dealer should refund me. Personally, I feel that FIVE STAR should be refunding my money AND now I'm the one who gets to battle it out with Mitsubishi motors customer service. Altoona Five Star Service acts like children in grade school. Let's place blame, and who cares about customer service. At least the people at Brown in Toledo cared about me and my grandkids. Now it's time for Five Star in Altoona to take the reigns and refund my money. You should have repaired my car correctly to begin with.

In my opinion, disengenuous at best.

This dealership did not respond to our inquiries after a 'sale' about delayed paperwork. I finally learned through my own inquiry directly with the DMV that the title had not transferred after 55, then 56 days. I told the dealership I was returning the vehicle. 27 hours later, I did. They kept all all of our money and lied, lied, lied to the Attorney Generals Office, our attorney, their attorney, etc. We continued to pay for the car even though it was returned, full coverage auto insurance, the whole nine yards until the vehicle eventually sold at auction. Five Star could have assisted us by finding out from their chosen messenger service WHERE the documents were, but did not. They COULD have requested a duplicate title at an online instant notary to prevent the documents from later eventually transferring. They COULD have fairly accepted the 20 dollars per day their contract would have allowed them to collect as per section 13 of the Vehicle Buyers Order. They could have had the future good will of our large extended family and made much more than the $14,579.50 they took us for. IMO- [non-permissible content removed]. There are other Mitsubishi dealers who probably have more integrity than the "President" of 5 Star Altoona, who will help you if any situations arise. Go to them.
