These folks I met at a local auto show. We had a fair bit of discussions regarding the LR2, which were a bit confusing as some information provided did not match up with the product literature or on-line material. The Sales associate continued some E-mail conversations offering more accurate information and helpful links to some Land Rover articles. There was a lot of emphasis on the "image" of Land rover, which while interesting is not much help deciphering whether or not the vehicle is useful. Unfortunately, the links on Safety were to European websites whose tests do not directly correlate with USA testing. One telling response was when I asked the Sales associate to make a brief comparison with Subarus Outback. At that point he promptly stopped responding. My guess is that once the LR "image" was left out of the equation, there was no point to him in continuing. The dealership, being the only one for hundreds of miles, sold the products at MSRP (save for one show voucher discount good for a limited time). They had a very small inventory. They were located downtown, and difficult to reach. That, along with LR's poor reliability record, sunk the LR and the deal, at least for now.
