2003 Acura CL - Coupe

by freespirit01 on 08/14/2007

As I had had a wreck in my other car, and unfortunatelly chose the wrong company to repair the damages, resulting in disatrious results, I started looking for a new car to purchase. I had decided to pay cash for my new vehicle, as I didn't want any monthly payments. I set my limit at approx. $30,000.00. The main reason that I chose Don Carlton Acura was the fact that I had previously purchased a "New" 1987 Acura Legend in Little Rock, AR. As it had been rated "Car Of The Year", I felt very comfortable purchasing this vehicle. I paid a little over $23,000.00 for my new Acura Legend, as it was a 5-speed and the company had already started bringing in the 1989 Model Acuras. I owned this car for over 11 years, with little or no problems with it at all! The car I really wanted was at another dealership for $10,000.00 more than I had alotted for my purchase price. I should have gone with my instints regarding the afore-mentioned vehicle. My husband and I went to Don Carlton Acura of Tulsa in Feb. 2003 to look at their cars as it had been a long time since I had paid any attention to them. The Salesman that helped us seemed like a very nice, honest, likeable Salesman. We test drove several cars, and I would estimate we were there from approx. 4pm, until the final papers were drawn up approx. 9 pm. Earlier in one of our conversations I had told the Salesman that I intended on paying cash for the vehicle I wanted to purchase. Which I was then told it didn't matter in the slightest as they would get their money one way or another. That in itself should have sent up warning signals for me. Plus the fact that I wanted to add a wood grain steering wheel along with the other wood grain items I wanted installed, which I paid extra for them. I guess I felt like they should have at least offered a discount on the steering wheel, or even as good customer service just included it in with the purchase price. The Salesman's Supervisor said that was totally out of the question. However, as I did finally find a car I liked, mainly for the fact that it had a navigation system, as I am "directionally challenged". lol Plus I was able to get a white coupe with the grey leather interior I love so much. As we were there for so long, they weren't able to do the normal detail of the car, or fill it up with gasoline, as promised. I brought my car back in to their Service Department to have the windows tinted, the car detailed, and the full tank of gasoline they promised me. My husband and I picked it up the next day. They drove it around to us, and we both inspected it. We were appauled at what they term "detailing". There were leaves on the floor of the car among other things that hadn't been done. NOTE: Everytime I took my car in, the Salesman that sold us the car was never there. I inturn wrote him many notes and left them on his desk. He didn't call me, he didn't send a letter of appreciation for me buying the car, etc. Within a month the plastic pieces that fit around the seats started falling off, the trunk hinge would pop and creak everytime it was closed, the Service Department forgot to put one of the floor mats back in, etc... Luckily I purchased the extended end-to-end Warranty which was for 75,000 miles or 7 years. I took it back in 2004 to have it detailed, along with a long list of problems that I had had with my car and gave it to the "no longer employed there" Service Manager. My husband and I had moved to AR for 6 months due to a job change, and had driven it back to Tulsa to have it fixed at the same place it was purchased. I returned to AR the next day. While examining what all they did/didn't do or fix, I happened to notice that the gold emblem on the back of the car saying 3.2CL had the gold 3 and the gold dot missing, which had to be done while it was detailed as it was there when I took it into the Acura Shop in Tulsa. Due to some bad Health issues (on my part), I wasn't able to take the car back in when we eturned back to Tulsa.
