I wanted to share my experience at Performance Honda Fairfield, I had been shopping for a while and Kelsey and Djuan where great to work with no hassle and up front and helped me narrow my search and listened to what I wanted out of a new car. Thanks for making buying a car enjoyable! FV

Ran credit without approval

by phillipscis on 03/06/2018

I am so angry!!I already got approved from my Bank that I have all my autos with. I told this salesman not to run my credit because I already have an approval from bank and that I’m buying a house and never wanted my credit pulled again even if dealer offering 0% rate. That being said, I test drive the car and had them speak with my bank and finalize the payment. Few minutes later I received a call from the salesman saying they’ve gotten everything they needed from my bank and that I should comeback pick the car. Again, the finance guy came to me to talk about financing with Honda as I reiterated that my bank is financing the car and never would want anyone to run my credit at this time. The sales rep and finance guy both said no no we won't run your credit since we have recieved everything from your bank. Four days after, I got a call from my mortgage financing company saying I was no longer qualified for a loan because my credit was hard pulled by some PERFORMACE place. Immediately, I called the dealership to ask why they would pull my credit without authorizations or consent?? What the rationale was? WAS I BEING PROFILED FOR BUYING A BRAND NEW CAR?? Why would such happen after reiterated severally? I have contacted my lawyer and a case is being developed. Also, there’s an audio of the manager conflicting himself. This practice is terrifying, they just took me for granted.

Honda Accord 2013

by schoecmr on 12/22/2013

My goal was to buy and negotiate my new Honda Accord online thru email. I succeeded with this venture with the assistance of Megan K. Megan was great, attentive, nice and receptive to my special needs and timeframe. Although she had never sent an official offer thru PDF file in the past, Megan did this for me. Their price was the best in the city by $1000 on new 2013 Honda Accord EX. I negotiated the price through email and received the official offer thru PDF file. I made an appointment the next day to inspect car and sign papers. Megan had the car ready and the entire transaction was completed in less than an hour ( including financing). I would recommend Performance Honda to anyone looking to negotiate and buy a car online. It was great, quick, and easy for my busy schedule.

AVOID this dealership at all costs!

by cowflipper on 11/05/2013

From the time we committed to selecting a car to buy from here, problems arose. The car was not ready at our appointment time, the sales person did little to really get us into the car and ready to use it, the finance guy messed up so bad Honda USA cancelled the contract, the manager walked away from us when we were talking to him. I will never return to this dealership FOR ANYTHING. After contacting the BBB, they have 17 complaints of service in the last 3 years. We now wonder if we could have gotten a better price at another dealership, or if some of the treatment we received was based on gender or age. This whole experience of buying the car has been frustrating and disgusting.

AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP or at least check the BBB

Terrible experience overall at Performance Honda in Fairfield! A manager, Reed T., on 2/27/13 and 2/28/13, brought me in multiple times for a bait and switch. I requested a black or dark grey Accord from my initial conversation. I was given a good price but lied to about what was in stock and what was available at other dealers. I left to look at another dealer because I wasn’t sure if I was getting an honest answer. After returning from looking at the other dealer I was told I need to put $1000.00 down for them to get my color choice in. After speaking with Reed T. on 3/1/13 I was informed that since I left yesterday the numbers will be different because I lost my "loyalty" points when I left to go and look at another dealer. He said he would call me back Friday afternoon. I received a call back on Sunday which is when Reed explained instead of my payment being $595/month (I have documentation of this), my new payment would be $650/month. By the way, Reed told me directly that the closest car in my color was in Columbus Ohio. He showed me a "printout" to confirm what he was saying. I caught him in a direct lie when I arrived at the other dealer with several options in my color and style. I have leased from this dealership before with a great experience. This dishonesty is not consistent with the image of this dealership. I would like the owners of the dealership to know how poor the quality of their manager is. Reed T.'s arrogance to punish a customer for looking at options is inexcusable. Then to charge a returning customer $55 more a month because of his bruised ego is laughable and pathetic. I doubt this is what the image the dealership wants to promote.

Civic 2012

by koltons on 05/29/2012

We purchased our 2012 Civic from Megan @ Performance Honda. While sitting there waiting to look at car, I received another email from yet another dealer lowering their "out the door" price on a new Civic. I showed that to Megan, who said "We can honor that price as well". No hesitation, and they did. They actually threw in all-weather mats and a cargo mat for the trunk. Not all dealers are bad, it really depends on WHO you get.

not very helpful sales person

by normalken on 09/01/2011

Stopped by while it was raining wanted to know if my Kayak & camping equipment would fit inside the CRV. Asked if the seat folded down in the front and back. Richard B told me it would not. He did not even offer to let me test inside one. It was raining an no CRV in the show room but the service department was closed, why not pull one in the service department? Went to Honda East they had a CRV in the show room and after checking the seats out it would appear that if you fold the back seat down and the front seat back and remove the Headrest it would most likely fit. Richard did show the Eliment but the MPG's were terrible no intrest, then he showed me a Subaru Outback, did not like the interior color light cloth.

Can't trust online sales quotes

by bad_deal on 08/04/2011

Began researching accords prices, and the price I was given by internet team at Performance was not honored. I was upfront about the price, the fact that I was paying cash, and had no trade in. When I went to buy, another finance manager changed everything, and would not honor the price I'd been given. Then, he also said they would have to finance it. When I asked to speak to the person I'd dealt with, I was told he'd met his quota and the deal was only good until the end of the month, or until incentives ran out. The incentives are still in place, as I checked on edmunds.com Really a disappointing experience. Honda no longer has my respect or loyalty.

Misleading Online Business Practices

by jdiz414 on 06/24/2011

We had just moved to the area and sold a car before moving, so we were down a vehicle and needed to make a purchase quickly. I contacted several dealers for online quotes, and Performance Honda (Katie and Conrad) responded with very competitive prices on Honda CR-Vs. They listed all drive levels and both 2WD and 4WD vehicles, all with prices well below invoice. I contacted the dealership by phone and told them I'd like to look at a 2WD SE. They told me they didn't have one on the lot. (In retrospect, this should have clued me in...why would you quote prices on a vehicle you don't have?) We decided we were still interested in a different vehicle and made arrangements to come in. When we arrived at the dealership, we met Katie, who walked us out to the lot, pointed to the CRVs, and said "pick one". We took a tet drive, decided we liked the vehicle, and sat down to figure out the cost and financing. This is where the problems started. When we first started walking around, we were informed that every vehicle on the lot had the $529 Pro package (floor mats, etc.) as a dealer add-on. I told Katie I only wanted to look at vehicles that matched the prices from the online quote, which she told me would not be a problem. When we sat down to go over numbers, this $529 add-on was still in the vehicle price. I told Katie I didn't want this, and I pointed out that her original email indicated: "CRV SE 4WD Automatic MSRP is $24,425 Sale Price is $*22,058" And at the bottom it indicated: "*Prices are good through end of month or until all incentives remain. Plus tax, $250 document fee and $48.50 temp tag fee." I also pointed out that there was nothing in the email to indicate that there was no CRV SE 4WD available on the lot for $22,058, because every available vehicle had been modified with the $529 Pro package. When I told Katie that this equipment wasn't something we wanted and that we would like her to either get rid of the equipment or get rid of the $529 add-on charge, she introduced us to Danny, who told us that those add-on items could not be taken off, and the price could not be adjusted. When I asked him if he saw anything wrong with a business practice of promising a buyer a price that wasn't actually available, he said he saw nothing wrong with it. When we heard this, we walked out. Post-script: Within three hours we had found and purchased a Sportage at Wyler Kia on Hwy 32. When I told the sales rep about our experience at Performance Honda and asked him if there were any hidden add-ons in the vehicle he had emailed us, he informed us that he would remove the $500 charge for the pinstripe and body side molding, and that his quoted price would cover the entire vehicle. He was as good as his word, which is more than I can say for the Internet Sales group at Performance Honda.

Good Experience

by centis on 04/29/2011

Friendly staff. Very low key, non-pressured, used car shopping experience. Found a car, patiently negotiated a fair price. Then worked out a deal on a trade-in. Then worked out a good rate with the finance department. In and out in just a few hours on a Saturday evening. Had a couple of minor issues that we had to return for, and the service staff was just as friendly and helpful. Really feel like we found a gem of a dealership here.

Wow, same experience.

by stevethom on 03/23/2010

Some time ago I was in the market for a beater pickup. They had one advertised, and I'm glad I called. It was sold....but the ad online stayed on for months. Always thought that was strange. Fast forward to now. I'm looking for a '05 e46 (BMW 3) and they had one. Low mileage, looked good online. Stopped by and looked at it. It had the worse window tint job for a car. What a shame. Thinking now, I'm glad a salesman didn't come out. When I called about it later that day, a manager called back and offered the information that the previous owner was a skin cancer victim and that is why the tint. Pure B.S. I stayed away.

New low for car salespeople

by pogo3 on 06/09/2009

I went in looking for a minivan. The first question I'm asked is 'How many?'. How many people actually go into a dealership looking for a fleet of minivans? Then he asks me what color. So I tell him what color I like. Then he says I have to give him 3 colors. I didn't like 3 colors, so I told him that. He says 'Why don't you let me do my job?' The questioning went on...everytime he didn't like the answer he got, he'd say 'You're not letting me do my job'. Finally, he checks inventory and they don't have what I want. He says - 'You can take the Touring model or drive around the state looking for what you want.' I left...and suggest you stay away too, unless you're looking for some abuse.

Dishonest Sales Practice

by ram18 on 05/09/2009

I got an internet quote from them for a Honda Odyssey EX-L. We agreed to the model, color, price and time when I was going to pick up. Called them up in the morning to confirm that everything would be ready. When I got there, they told me that didn't have what I wanted but had a Touring model that I could get for higher price.

the way it's supposed to be done

by graphicguy on 08/27/2008

I've bought from the Performance Group for over 15 years. They own a Honda and Toyota store, side-by-side. Their people are knowledgeable, professional, and always offered me a good deal. My most recent purchase was an '08 Honda Accord EX-L. Great car. Deal was easy. People weren't pushy and always friendly. Just a great all around experience every time I enter their dealership, from sales to service. Highly recommended.
