The vehicle buying experience you always wished for

by HappyRick on 02/01/2024

Internet advertising a sale caught my interest. There was no false advertising here. There was no pressure, just very helpful people who wanted to help me pick out the right vehicle and options for me. My salesperson Keanu was awesome. Randy Marion Buick treated me like a friend or family member they were trying to help shop for a new vehicle.

Sales

by 2024 1500ZR2 on 01/17/2024

Jerome was very patient and helpful despite my time constraint and the pouring rain. We walked around the lot a little bit, but drove around most of the time starting off looking at the used trucks then the new ones. He was informative and honest. One of the best parts was when he took me to the accessories department across the street to source some steps and a tonneau cover after I decided on a 2024 Silverado ZR2 with the 6.2. I am very happy with his service and felt like he was dedicated to helping make the best choice for my current situation. After the sale was final he even helped me return my rental car. Thank you Jerome.

Great experience

The sales person was very professional and the company hours made it easy for working folks. The paperwork signing was a breeze and they managed the NCDOT paperwork.

Issue still not resolved on my 2013silverado

by Smalzz1313 on 06/01/2022

I brought my truck in for ticking noise and also oil pressure fluctuate I have an AOL extended warranty and so they did all the information swap and so they got a hold of them to come out and my extended warranty company said that they did not provide enough information for them to justify spending $6000 to fix my truck because he said there’s nothing wrong with it and they could not provide enough information to justify what the dealership is claiming so I’m still with a broken truck and I have to fix it out of my own pocket because nobody on both ends of the dealership and the warranty company would verify I feel that both parties are wrong as the customer I’m getting screwed The only thing the dealership did right in this aspect was give me a rental so I can finish towing the job I was doing before I found the issue

Failure to honor warranty

by craignor on 12/13/2017

I brought my HD3500 to Randy Marion in November 2017 because the transmission control module died. They repaired it and gave me a bill for over $1,000. This should have been covered by the 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty I purchased for over $ 3,000 when I bought the truck. It took me over a month to get repaid, but in the meantime caused me significant problems as I am disabled and need intense medical care periodically. They were positively rude, unapologetic and demeaning to me, doing the common talk down to the disabled person trick like we are incapable of thinking. I am disgusted with them.

totally satisfied customer

by JGrebstein on 07/21/2017

Professional and direct- an honest experience that is uncommon at any dealership. The employees were genuinely interested in helping me through the entire process from start to finish. Very patient on taking me through all the electronics and set up. Price on trade in was very generous, and the entire deal was an easy and efficient decision. Kudos to Chris and Brad for taking lead and getting it all handled. Great follow through from Chris on all the details- and a lot of extra help too. Nice job!!!

The only reason I would ever come back here

by thezombiefrog on 04/17/2017

Jason Sawyer, the detail manager helped me sort out the issues I was having, and schedule the appropriate appointment. He ensured my car was taken care of in the service department as well as detailing. I had a positive experience with the service department here...I would never buy a car here again, or recommend to anyone (see the review i wrote in the sales category).

Lesson Learned

by thezombiefrog on 04/17/2017

My fiance and I purchased a barely used 2015 Sonic from Sudi on Jan.16,2017. When we got there, my initial impression of Sudi was fair. He was a bit shifty and would not maintain eye contact. I explained to Sudi that I had previously sold cars professionally in another state, and I am not here to nickel and dime him. I want what I want for fair market value. During the negotiation process two things bothered me: 1. Dealer Doc fee $799 2. Misc Fee $770. I tried to negotiate the doc fee as this was an outrageous amount. The dealership I worked for in another state had a $239 doc fee. At las, Sudi said it was non negotiable, same with the Misc Fee. When I asked about this misc fee, I was told that it is a "free" one year detailing service at their shop. They do it because their name is on my vehicle, and they have to stay looking good. I didn't want to include this amount in the term of the loan, but they wouldn't let me purchase the vehicle without financing this "Misc" Fee. After a while back and forth, we got to a number I was comfortable with, and shook hands. Now it was time for paperwork. When we got the the "WE OWE" section, it was blank. I reminded Sudi about the "free" detailing, and the stains that needed to be removed from the interior. Sudi wouldn't include this in the "WE OWE" section, he said it those items were assumed. Irritated, skeptical, yet tired, we proceeded to the loan officer. In the loan office was a $25,000 touch screen desk, financed by the outrageous dealer doc. fee. This desk was pretty cool, it contained all of documents we needed to sign, and special pens we could sign on the screen with. The only downfall to this technology is the dimly lit screen, and the small font. My fiance and I felt rushed through the entire process, the loan officer was intimidating, and spoke quickly. Each document we arrived on, the loan officer would state the title, and tell us where to sign. We would sign, then he would quickly swipe to the next document. I specifically remember when we got the the ResistAll paperwork. The loan officer said the title, and we saw the $770 fee. I asked about it, and the loan officer said that we talked to Sudi about it. I made a snarky remark regarding the insanity of being forced to pay for "free" detailing. I could the loan officer wanted to get us out of the room as quickly as possible because he didn't reply to the comment. After getting out of the loan office in about 20 minutes (which I think is a record,as in my experience, this would take at least an hour), we were instructed to wait for the car in the waiting room. We were told the car was almost out of detail. My fiance and I went out to have a cigarette to pass some time and stress along. When we came back inside, the car was waiting for us around the corner. Sudi handed me the key. I got in, and he said "oh, by the way, don't forget about the free onstar." I looked up, and noticed the stains still on the ceiling, then over at the stain on the passenger seat.I rolled down my window to yell to Sudi, but he was already inside. I didn't go in after him, it was late, I was annoyed and didn't want to cause a scene. I decided that I would call in the morning. I did just that, for about a month, leaving voicemails. Never angrily, but each time more urgent. Almost 3 months later, my check engine light came on, and I experienced a minor issue with my vehicle. After an experience all in it's own with the service and detail department, it was finally revealed that my fiance and I were schemed out of $770. To make a long story short: this misc fee is actually a product and warranty in which protects the interior and exterior of my vehicle from stains for six years. SUDI was so [non-permissible content removed] that it leaked through the entire dealership. Do Not Purchase your next vehicle from RANDY MARION, if you meet SUDI: Run away! Lesson learned: Read the fine print.

Sold used car without inspection-bad catalytic convertor

by amberghini10 on 01/06/2017

I bought a used car from Randy Marion Chevrolet and would advise anyone to AVOID this place at all costs! They sold me a car WITHOUT a passing inspection because it had a bad catalytic converter (which they were completely aware of). It wasn't until the 30 day temporary tag ran out and the permanent tag failed to come that I found all of this out, and then they had the nerve to tell me that I would have to pay for the catalytic converter to be fixed! After contacting the state inspectors office and an attorney, they finally agreed to fix the car... a year later however, guess what?!.. the car once again wouldn't pass inspection due to the exact same reason!!!! Shame on you Randy Marion Chevrolet.. There are tons of dealerships out there, and you're gonna do people that bring their business to you that way?

Sneaky and Dishonest

by wwarren5 on 04/24/2016

I just purchased a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Dan Stump who deals with internet sales at Randy Marion Chevrolet. The price was really good and I liked working with Dan. I live 4 hours away from the dealership and have a 4 month old son, so they even offered to deliver the Jeep to me and pick up our trade in. When the delivery guy arrived we went for a short test drive and quickly looked over the paperwork so he could head back. After he was gone and I had more time to look over the numbers I found a problem. The sales price showed $770 more than the advertised price, but just below that states RESISTALL with a $770 charge and “XXXXX” thru it so it looks like it has been deducted. That was my initial thought while the driver was still there, so I did not get out the calculator to check. –WRONG ANSWER-- I called the salesman back to discuss the issue and he insists we went over the charges on the phone and this RESISTALL is a paint and interior protectant that I will be happy to have. I assured him that he not did not tell me about an extra $770 charge, but he says all he can do at this point is apologize, and the dealership shows it on the paperwork that way so it is built into the price and is not an extra charge. Funny, the price on the website does not include that charge but the paperwork does. Shame on you Dan Stump and Randy Marion for scamming people, and shame on me for not being more careful.

Fees, fees, and more fees.

by ticket on 02/11/2016

You can close your eyes and this dealer will be just like any other. I attempted to purchase a pre-owned Stingray from them. During the negotiations, they sent me a worksheet that showed a "Enviroguard" fee of $770, whatever the heck that is, and the "Admin" fee of $699. At no time did they ever discount the asking price. They kept negotiating with the "fees", but not the bottom line. All of the "extras" padded into the price like "dealer prep", "doc" fees, "Scotchguard", "window etching", "pin striping etc, are ALL PURE PROFIT. It is a shame that dealers still charge bogus fees like this. I have always had the mindset that if you are going to charge me $699 for a "documentation" fee, my "reading" fee is $800. I can charge fees too. I mean, how much does it cost to print the bill of sale? Is paper like $500 per package?? I have sold cars on my own and it costs $0. You sign the title and collect payment for the car; it is that simple. My advice: do your homework, never pay "fees" other than tax and dmv fees, and negotiate from home. I have read the Google reviews and it is striking how many times the public relations person/ owner apologizes for poor service. I can't imagine owning a business that has to apologize so frequently for poor service. I was recently contacted by this dealership to "rate" how my internet shopping experience had been going, so they could improve the overall process. I let them know how disappointed I was with the excessive fees and the games they play with pricing. So far, I have not received any follow-up from them or further correspondence. They haven't posted anything on here denying or justifying the bogus fees either. Folks, IF YOU PAY THE FEES YOU ARE BEING RIPPED OFF!! If the fees are pre-printed on their forms and they tell you they can't remove them, LEAVE. This is dishonest and you should shop around and find a dealership who doesn't do business like this. They are out there, you just have to be willing to look. I hope that one day, dealerships will not live up to their reputations. I also notice they responded to this review claiming they do not have my contact information. When I was interested in their car, Tito called me immediately after getting the sales lead (that said no phone calls; I prefer to correspond via email). Now they mysteriously cannot find my information. Again, you can contact me anytime at my email address, since I prefer emails, no phone calls. I think you should contact me, not the other way around.

High Pressure, Game Playing Dealership

by horrible1 on 05/22/2014

Before learning anything about me or my needs, the dealer informed me his cars were flying off the lot faster than they could get them in and selling above MSRP. I didn't say much to those unsolicited comments, but when he asked me if I was a "serious buyer" I replied by telling him I haven't even tried out the car yet. He then informed me "we don't let these cars off the lot" and "we need you to prove you're serious". Excuse me, I'm a middle aged affluent adult. I don't need to prove anything. It's the dealer that needs to prove they are serious about selling me a car. Classic remarks made to unnerve people into buying before they are ready. No thanks. After purchasing our last 5 new cars from BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche, I wasn't use to getting "Chevy" service - but it all flashed back the instant I was approached by pot bellied, ashtray smelling, salesmen. If you're an affluent buyer, you will be VERY disappointed at the way you are treated here.

Turned off by high dealer fees

by rhacknc on 02/01/2008

Went to look at a 2004 low mileage Alero for my son. Car was advertised for $7990. I thought it was a fair asking price based on similiar vehicles I looked at for sale on-line. I was ready o make a deal and was presented with a writeup with all costs. Documentation Fees: $495.00 Reconditioning Fee: $650.00 The salesman explained the reconditioning fee was the costs it took the dealership to get the vehicle ready for sale. What a load of baloney. Needless to say I walked out of there quickly. Once a dealer starts with those crazy fees it tells me alot about them. Randy Marion advertises as the "Price Leader". He sure is the price leader, in doc fees and crazy reconditioning fees.
