Customer beware!

November 27, 2021 If there was an option for zero stars I would choose it. I inquired about a kia k5 for 25800 and kia seltos s for 25495. On the dealwr site it also offered a 1500 discount on a new 2021 kia. However the dealer had no 2021 kias. When Alyssa Chadwick reached out to me I inquired about the price and availability of these two kias. I ask if the listed prices are accurate, and she said yes. I asked her if the 1500 coupon could be used even though it was for 2021 and she said yes it can be used toward 2022. I asked if it already has been discounted and she said no. I ask are there any rebates that are included in price that I don't qualify for and she said no that is the price everyone gets. I ask her with the coupon that would be a k5 for 24300. And she said yes. I told her I had a trade in and she said their inventory is low and they are over paying for trade ins based on Kelly blue book. I ask her if both vehicles were in shock and she said yes. She said ask for her when I arrive. I told her I am driving 2.5 hours and wanted to confirm the details.So when I arrived, I was met by Benny Davis. He told me that Alyssa was internet phone person and I would be assigned to him anyway. I told him what she had said and reminded him I drove 2.5 hours to do a deal. I told him the vehicles I had inquired about. He said the seltos is in the showroom. He said let me look for the other. He could not locate it even though it showed in their inventory. He then took me to seltos and said the price is not the msrp but it has a 5495 markup so it was 31000 instead of 25495. The trade in offer came in 4500 dollars less than kbb even though dealer promotes kbb trade in value. The sales manager (played minor league ball for Indians) made sure he shared that. I shared the 33000 deal is not what I was offered and it is about 12k off. It didn't even include 1500 coupon from their website. The sales manager didn't even offer to add it on after I mentioned it. He said he empathize with me and offered me a some gas money for my 2.5 hour one way drive. He said they should have told me there was a mark up of 5495 for some models and 9995 for others and then let me make decision prior to driving. However they didn't and I shared that it is not the consumers fault of the misinformation. However the consumer is the one that is taking the loss. The loss of money driving to dealership, time, and excitement of buying a new vehicle. He looked at salesman who was new and said you need to know this. He pointed at me and said to the salesman. Even though the customer gets mad just know we only have 6 kias on the lot so he doesn't need to buy because we will sale those cars regardless because of the shortage. He said he doesn't have to buy and you need to understand that. He can leave upset but that is why it is important to disclose the markup but it is our fault we didn't disclose to him prior to him driving down. Then he said our GM would not even approve this because the owner Chris Daughtry would call and want to know why a car was sold without the mark up. He said that the dealership has no control over pricing that is set by someone in Florida. I ask him who the corporate office was and he just told me Chris Daughtry was owner but would not reveal anymore. He said the owner has 17 dealerships I'm Florida Texas NC and a few other states. I told him that the dealer is taken advantage with markups due to chip shortage and demand increase as a result. I shared when the demand and chips return to normal levels if will be customer like myself that dealers will rely on to do business. Then they will wish they had treated them fairly. I told him this would be 37th vehicle I have owned. I will say I have never been talk about by sales manager who told salesman my business didn't matter because demand was too high and inventory to low so all the vehicles will sell anyway. Their sales board on the office wall would speak differently. They were about 65 cars off pace for month of November. I was pre-approved by my lender and ready to drive off the lot with a new kia. I was a loyal kia customer. I bought a 2022 k5 in September and it got totalled 4 weeks later. I was looking to get another and this is the thank you I get. I bought one in September for 25700 k5 lxs. So the mark up is nothing more than price gauging. In summary the k5 they didn't have that I inquired about they said was available, the prices on neither car was close to being accurate(5495 markup), the kbb trade was not even close to fair market value or cash offer which is on the banner in their sales room. Customer very transparent and this is what happens. Would you shop here? Especially when salesmanager says in front of you that your business is not required for this dealer to be successful.

Try to sell you a car you specifically did not want

I reviewed several car dealerships and traveled over 50 miles with pictures taken from website on exactly what I wanted. The car salesman (Maurice) was courteous and professional. I stated that I was in want (not need) of a used Kia Optima with several photos of cars supposedly available at this dealership that I had taken directly from their website only 12 hours prior. After determining the value of my trade-in, a new car was shown to me. I stated I was looking for a used car, not new. Again, I was directed to new cars. Thanking the salesman, I left not getting to see a used car yet and feeling as if I was just being given the hard sell for a new car. Waiting at the exit to leave, the salesman tapped on my window and said he would show me the car I was interested in but it was at a different location. When we arrived at the other dealership, the car I specifically wanted to see had "been sold" just recently (remember I had just taken the photo for reference only 12 hours before). I then drove the salesman back to the Kia dealership and left, disappointed and extremely aggravated that this had been a waste of my time. I rated 1 star only because 0 stars were not an option.

great staff and persisant

Maurice was great at helping, although Margret assured me they could help and she was right. Went there after Bleckers said I had 2 SSN numbers, which was not true. But God works in mysterous ways, got the car I always wanted. Thanks Guys

Outstanding Sales Team

I called a few days ago and heard the sweetest most kind voice on the other end of the phone her name if I remember is Miss Tiffany. She was very helpful in to who I needed to talk with. I then had the pleasure of speaking to Miss Margaret she informed me of the sales that you were having and this was the best time to buy a car. She really knows her stuff. So today I came down today and sadly to say I wasn't able to buy anything today but I do have to say I was able to meet one of the most amazing young men I have ever dealt with his name was Jonathan. Not only was he very knowledgeable of the cars on your lot but very easy to talk to and look at. He took his time in explaining to me about what I need to do in order to buy so I am here to say I am looking for my co-signer as I type this. Just from the experience I had with these 3 young people you will have my business and anyone else I tell as long as you have these gems working for you.... This is truly your A-Team!!! Thank you Lumberton Kia and most of all thank you too Miss. Tiffany, Miss. Margaret and Mr. Jonathan

Disappointed

I was going to purchase a car from Kia of Lumberton and was told that I would definitely be able to purchase a Kia. I was approved for 2016 Kia Optima which I fell in love with and was asked what I could afford. So I told my limitation and went back an forth only to find out that a deal couldn't be able to be worked out. The funny thing is "HOW" was I approved for just "ONE" car on the lot. Wasn't offered other alternatives or even shown anything else to help secure my sale. So I was pretty much sent elsewhere. What a disappointing buying experience! Sad.

Internet Sales Representative

I been talking to Margaret Lewis on the phone and we talk back and forward for a few's days and every time she answer or call back She was very outstanding and answer all the question I had and did a great job of following up with the Question I would have.You have a Great Internet Sales Representative.She need a raise after dealing with me. Awesome Customer Service! I would give her a 10 star rating.

Completely Ridiculous

Worst car buying experience ever. If you want to buy a filthy brand new car with ripped carpeting for a mediocre price with a maximum amount of hassle and discomfort and then have your follow up emails and phone calls go unanswered for days or weeks on end, then this is the place for you! Otherwise, I'd strongly suggest taking your money and time elsewhere. They have an F rating with the BBB for a reason and it shows for sure! There isn't enough profanity available to make me feel better when describing my purchase experience with these wannabe hustlers. Lesson learned. I seriously recommend that you go elsewhere to do your car shopping.

Not trustworthy

They lied to get us into the dealership stating we could get a car for one price then when we got there it was a totally different story. They even lied about the features that were included on that vehicle. Did not want to work with us or even try to get us in another car. They have an F rating with the BBB.

Awesome Customer Service!

I called Lumberton Kia at a point in my life where I did not think I could even qualify for a car, but they were wonderful and reassuring that I would! Cheryl R was absolutly fabulous on the phone! She had Michael B. work with me on a finding exactly the car the I wanted. He was so great and supportive during the sales process! Cheryl came by from time to time to check on me! What great customer service! I would recommend anyone to make that trip to see them! It is sooo worth it!
