I don't expect complete honesty from a dealership, but I do expect some degree of good-faith in negotiations. First, Open Road will attempt to charge a $780 "administrative fee" to cover ill-defined "administrative costs." Ask them to give you an itemized list of the the specific costs. I did not. However, I suspect you will find that there are no actual administrative costs associated with this administrative fee." It is just a way of presenting $790 as a non-negotiable item and artificially reducing the MSRP to get you in the door. What it actually does is piss people off (because they are not charged it elsewhere) and undermines the dealers credibility from the start of the transaction. <br><br> Second, after I made an offer, the sales consultant told me he had no remove to move below the posted price of $19,965 (for a used car). After researching the matter, I determined that the likely cost of the car to the dealership was not more than $17,000. In any event, I have no problem with hard good-faith bargaining where the dealer takes a firm position. However, I went online and found that the dealer was advertising this car as being "priced to move," and had already reduced the asking price to $18,983. A few terse e-mails later and Open Road was ruled out as an option. <br><br> Once again, I don't expect complete honesty from a dealer. However, I don't want to be put in a position of having to check, test and double-check everything the dealer says. I did not buy a car from Open Road VW and I never will.

Outstanding Experience

This was my first ever car purchase, and I could not have been happier with my experience at Open Road Volkswagen of Manhattan. The salesperson we worked with, Jeff, was a total professional and answered every question I had about the process and the car itself. I thought he was great, and I would recommend to anyone looking to purchase a vehicle at this dealership to go see him.

Professional and Best Service

I recently bought out the lease on my 2012 VW and the service I received could not have been more professional, informed or courteous. Claus Jacobsen and Ed Lopez both gave me all the info I needed to make my decision whether to lease a new car or buy this one without any pressure. It was a relief to go to a car dealership and not feel pushed in any direction other than the one I decided on. I would recommend both Claus and Ed to any friend or family member.

I recently leased a new Tiguan at Open Road VW in NYC. Shon Nix was my salesperson and he handled my transition from turning in my Jetta and moving into a Tiguan seamlessly.Everyone at this location was warm and friendly and willing to do whatever it takes to get you what you want quickly and efficiently. When to my local dealer for my fix on a new Vw this will be my forth in four years.open road Volkswagen of Manhattan is always there for me these guy all way seem to make me happy from the manager salesman and even the finance guy. Beleve me I shop it to keep everyone honest but I allway end up with my guys in Manhattan

Certified but recalled??????

We completed the purchase of our Certified used Volkswagen from this dealer at 3:30 pm this afternoon. At 5 pm we received a call telling us that there was a recall on the car and that we would need to "bring it in". The car, at this point was 1 1/2 hours away on its way to Pennsylvania where we live away and we live 50 miles away from the nearest VW dealer. We were charged a $790 "Administrative Fee" as part of the purchase price. We were told that the recall occurred "after the car was certified" but before we purchased the car. It seems that for $790 the least they could do, beside sell it to us, is check that there are no active recalls on the vehicle. The person I spoke with told me they were going to speak with their manager and call me and I have yet to receive a call. This raises the question of what it means to purchase a "Certified Pre-owned" vehicle from this dealer if they have not even checked if there is a current recall and we have to wonder about the competence of the service departments of the Open Road chain of dealerships. As it turns out, we were also planning on buying a BMW, were going to purchase it from Open Road in Newton, NJ and have a second test drive scheduled. Given our experience today, I plan on canceling that appointment and bringing our business to another dealership. I doubt we will ever deal with any Open Road dealership again.

To begin, my wife, Mary Ann Amodeo and I leased a GTI, what a fun car to drive! I did the early research in calling, and I spoke with a wonderful receptionist, Nicole, on several occasions. She understood what I expected and connected me with an amazing brand specialist, Claus R. Jacobson. We never felt pressured, he really walked us thru the process and I felt as tho I was dealing with a friend. I knew instantly this would be where we would lease are new car. You could see immediately the passion and excitement Claus has for his career at Volkswagon. In closing, where ever CLAUS goes we shall follow. My first car was a 1969 Carmen Ghia convertible and I have found my old love again!!! I was 16 years old back in 1976 and will never forget those memories of driving with the top down, ah to ne young again. Oh, I must say, the GTI has just a touch more horsepower!!! Zoom...

Found what I wanted online first, then went to dealer and checked out the cars. Went back following week and leased a car. Both the salesman and the sales manager were very helpful and friendly. No muss, no fuss, no haggling. I was very pleasantly surprised. Would recommend to friends.
