A warning for others

by snowbunny8513 on 12/22/2015

If I was able to, I would score my experience with Northeast Acura at a zero. I went in for a test drive on 11/25/15. On my test drive, I talked with Shane (a salesman) about the price, the tire pressure light being on, where the buttons were for the heated seats was (three ads stated the car came equipped with heated seats) and my interest in the car. I was told that numerous people were interested in the car but yet it still sat in the lot. I was told to look up the button placement in the manual but wasn't given the opportunity to. I always thought that the sales associates should be knowledgeable about the car they are trying to sell, maybe I was wrong. After the test drive, I was shown a Carfax history report and asked to sign paperwork to get the car. I wanted to talk with my boyfriend about the car so I said I'd make a decision over the weekend. I was asked to put down a holding fee because I wouldn't be back in until 11/30/15. I paid the fee and left. On 11/27/15, I got three calls from Sondra in their financing department trying to push me into the sale. She told me to come on in so they could get me into my new car. She told me that someone was interested in the car and asked if I was serious about my interest. Since I was working that day (Shane was aware I had to work on 11/27/15 which is why I said I'd return on 11/30/15) I was unable to "run on over," but told them I was interested in the car or I wouldn't have put down a $500 holding fee. Sondra asked if they could start looking at financing options for me, I said she could but I was not sold on the price of the car and stated that I was going to be talking to Shane about it on 11/30/15 and that I'd be there some time after 10 am. On 11/30/15, I get to the dealership around 11:30 am and was berated by Shane for not being there "on time." I reminded Shane that I had not given him a set time and had said I would be in some time after 10 am. Shane acted dismissive and irritated. When I mentioned the price of the car being too high, Shane asked why I never mentioned it on 11/25/15. I reminded him that I had said the price was too high and he told me that I had already put down a deposit so that told him I was OK with the price. I reminded him that I had only paid a refundable holding fee, Shane told me that it was actually a deposit and that holding fees didn't exist! I stated that I hadn't signed anything saying I agreed to the price and told him that the lower the price would help guarantee financing offers. Shane told me that I had been approved by a bank and said he didn't know why I was questioning my eligibility for a loan because Sondra already told me I was approved for financing, I was never given this information. I decided to weigh my options about having to deal with the [non-permissible content removed] of another dealership and decided that I didn't need the extra stress and hassle. After I was told that the price was set in stone, I decided I would be able to work with it and signed everything that was needed to get the car. I got out to the area where my new car was parked and I asked Shane about why the tire indicator light was still on, I was told it couldn't be turned off. Shane ignored me when I asked him to show me where the heated seat buttons were and walked away when I asked about the shuddering in my car when I pushed the push start ignition button. My boyfriend stated that he felt the shuddering was due to a loose motor mount and told me to keep an eye on it. I contacted the used car manager named David Poletta and told him about my experience and stated that I had no power to my power outlets and said that my wiper blades were in awful condition. David said he'd look into the matter. Fast forward to 12/9/15 and my boyfriend begins looking into my car's history and any recalls that may be out there. He found several recalls and asked me if they had shown up on the Carfax report that the dealership had shown me. When I stated that I had not seen any recalls, I looked into the report myself. The report showed that the car had been brought into a Hyundai dealership on 9/9/15 while it was still owned by Northeast Acura. Hyundai issued an engine recall on 9/10/15. The recall notices were sent out to the car owners on 10/08/15 however, dealerships receive these notices much sooner. The car sat in the lot at Northeast Acura until 11/30/15 so Northeast Acura had ample time to get the car fixed I contacted Northeast Acura and stated that my car shuddered when starting or stopping the engine and that I heard a loud clunk in the front right tire area wherever I turned to the right. I was set up for an appointment for 12/14/15 and I told the sales department that I wanted to speak with David P. about the blown/missing fuses and the worn wiper blades. On 12/11/15, I got a call from the used car sales manager and was told that they were aware that the fuses were blown/missing and that they knew the wiper blades are worn. David stated that these issues had been corrected before the car was sold to me but they hadn't been because I had to purchase these items two days after buying the car! On 12/14/15, my boyfriend and I went into Northeast Acura with the recall information, the receipts from the purchased parts, and looking for answers to why I was lied to about my car. My boyfriend talked to Bob in the service department while I talked to David P. I talked with him about the fact that my car had a recall notice sent out while in their possession and he stated there weren't any recalls. After \giving him proof of the recall, he said he never got an email. The guy who shares his office jumped into the conversation and said that they don't get recall notices, they go to the owners. I reminded them that they were the owner of the car at the time of the recall and said that the recall notice was sent out on 10/08/15. They gave each other a look of "utoh" and brought Sondra in to talk to me about her calls to me on 11/27/15. Sondra denied that I disliked the price on the car and didn't understand why I had gotten upset with her calling me while I was at work... She said I sounded insulted when she had asked me if I was interested in the car (keep in mind, I wouldn't have put down the $500 holding fee if I wasn't interested). After getting nowhere with any of the three people I was talking to, David said they would reimburse me for having to buy blades and fuses. He wrote me out a check for half the amount I paid and seemed surprised when I caught the error and promptly wrote me a second check... My boyfriend comes out to the waiting area to meet me and stated that the service department found a loose motor mount on my car and that is why my car was shuddering and had a clunk. David seemed bewildered by this news. Since my car is still covered under the warranty, it would be a free fix for the motor mount. I asked David if they had been trying to hide the loose motor mount from me and if that was why I wasn't allowed to start the car while on the test drive. David said they had nothing to hide so I kindly reminded him that he had lied to me about the wiper blades and fuses being replaced... Thank you

by A_Sample on 12/18/2015

My husband and I needed to lease a second vehicle and it was Sondra Olds who first recommended looking into an Acura. She made it so easy to look into the little details and to test drive the RDX and MDX. When we were ready, we met with a great sales rep, Mark, to look at the financials to compare to the two and answer any questions we had. They each went above and beyond to make our overall experience smooth and great. We ended up choosing to lease an MDX, which has proven to be a great choice! Thank you!

My husband and I are very pleased with sales representative, Stephen Rogers, he provided great customer service. He made the process of getting another vehicle go a lot faster and smoother then plan. Thank you Stephen! You did a great job with answering all of our questions and making sure everything was all set before we drove away with our new car. When it time to get another vehicle I will definitely keep you in mind.

Excellent Experience!!!

by KatieMK on 10/12/2015

I met with Mark Verdile back in July when I initially began my search for a new vehicle. Mr. Verdile was very informative and patient with my many questions and inquisitions. I was not ready to make a purchase at that point so Mr. Verdile kept me posted for the next several weeks via email as to the vehicles that were in my interest/price range. I never felt pressured or hounded as I have with other dealerships. I had an excellent experience with Northeast Acura all around...I felt that I was treated fairly and professionally and I am very pleased with my purchase. I am driving a 2012 MDX that has been certified though Acura and feel like I have a brand new vehicle. I would highly recommend Northeast Acura and specifically Mr. Verdile to anyone who is considering a purchase.

Excellent Customer Service and Dealing

by ashkenaz on 09/04/2015

I bought 2012 Acura TL . Brian was very good while dealing with us. I personally like the way he provided all the information. No extra or manipulated information or stats . this is exactly what I wanted to do . He provided all the facts , information all together and I took me 30 mins to decide for the vehicle and bought it . excellent . however, the finance manager forget to provide some calculations while signing the deed but I think that was a mistake , she didnt do it intentionally . But I categorically asked and she forgot . I would recommend Northeast Acura and see Brain for good and expert dealing. And don't go to Mohawk Honda because they waste several hours and days by providing wrong calculations and going back and forth here and there. Great Service NE Acura !!!!

Good Eperience Once Again

by BobM___ on 08/28/2015

I recently purchased a 2016 MDX from Northeast Acura and found the buying experience to be a positive one. I had a fairly new salesperson Anthony Montesano, and found him to be knowledgeable, professional, accomadating and very personable. I had purchased 3 other vehicles at Northeast, but not in the past 4 years and have received the same consistent quality sales experience. I would definitly work with again Anthony again because of the quality experience I had buying my MDX through him.

by AcuraRDXRules on 08/04/2015

I cannot express how well I was treated throughout the process at Northeast Acura. First off, Jill brought a 2016 Acura RDX that was similar to what I was interested in to my place of employment for me test drive. .this was a huge factor as my time off is very limited. The negotiating was easy and I am absolutely thrilled with the vehicle, the handling, ride and style are impeccable. The dealership is beautiful and as soon as you walk in you are treated like the only customer there and like family. Jill is exceptional in her attention to detail in going over options and her genuineness made me feel at ease. It's great dealing with a female who has the same values as myself in dealing with the public. Jill, you made me a very happy customer and Thank You again!!

Super frustrated,

by peteer01 on 07/14/2015

My wife and I bought our first ever used car from Northeast Acura, so I’ll chalk up some of my experience to learning somethings the hard way. I’ll gladly admit that I was been guilty of not demanding to see everything upfront and getting everything in writing. I made the mistake of trusting the salesperson and finance manager’s verbal promises. We bought a 2007 Honda Civic with 81,939 miles in 2011. The car was what we were looking for and the price was reasonable. I had nothing to trade in, and I was able to pay for the car in cash, so I assumed I would be able to negotiate for a reasonable price. When we sat down to discuss the price of the car, they recommended, and I said I did want, the CNA National Z-Series warranty that they were offering. They gave me a price for the 3-year and 5-year options (36,000 and 60,000 miles respectively), and I told them I’d like to look at a five year warranty, but that I wasn’t interested in spending that much on the car and warranty. I wanted to know what they could do to lower the price of the car as I was buying with cash with no trade in, and was told (after the salesperson leaves and comes back, which happened more than once) that they couldn’t lower the price of the car. I laughed. OK, I’m there to write a check for the full amount, and you can’t budge on the price of the car at all? “What about the warranty?” I asked. I explained that it was my wife’s first car, she wouldn’t be driving much, or far, and that we wouldn’t drive 36,000 miles over five years let alone three. I proposed that I pay the their sticker price of the car ($10,990) and their proposed “discounted” (1669.00) three year price of the CNA warranty for five years of coverage with a 36,000 mile cap. Again, the salesperson leaves the desk and we were left waiting several minutes. That, I was told, was doable. But it was non-standard and there was some explanation about not being able to have that written up that day. That’s fine, I explained, but my wife needed a car and they needed the check to cash before I could get it, so how do I go about expediting getting the car? I was walked through by the finance guy (Seth G, who’s since left) and my salesperson that I needed to sign here, here, there and there, and write the check, and they’d take care of getting me the car and the final paperwork ASAP. OK, fine, I thought. I kept asking if I could notate on the documents, but they said no, that wasn’t allowed. But my receipt said CNA AUTOMOTIVE PREFFERED (no term indicated), and I was assured that everything would be taken care of. Fast forward to when I get the car. Yes, the salesperson drove the car out as they said they would, but when they delivered it with an envelope full of paperwork and the keys, one of the remote keys is completely broken, held together by tape to keep the metal blade in the plastic key end. The first few times I called Northeast Acura to complain about this, my salesperson was out or with a customer each time. So I started e-mailing. I e-mailed my salesperson. Instead I got an automated e-mail from David at Northeast Acura stating: “Your complete satisfaction is our goal and important to our success. We would appreciate you taking the time to complete the short survey included in this email.” I wrote back explaining I was not satisfied, one of the keys was broken when I got the car. After three days and several e-mails, several phones calls, being told that I should have checked both remote keys before buying the car, and having a heated conversation with the sales manager, Northeast agreed to take care of replacing the broken key. Fast forward 3.5 years and less than 20,000 miles (less than 100K total) and the starter motor stopped working. I was able to, with the help of very car savvy friends, diagnose the problem as the starter motor. I called Northeast Acura and was told that my CNA warranty was three years and had expired. I called CNA and was told that if it was non-standard, there may be a five year that should have replaced by the three year in their system, but they confirmed they only had the three year. I went home to get my envelope of paperwork. Paperwork I never went through because I was busy dealing with the broken key when I first got the car. My paperwork says I have a three year, 36,000 mile warranty. I have multiple conversations with multiple people at Northeast Acura. The salesperson says they can’t remember the transaction at all and the sales manager says they want to make it right. They want me to have the car towed there to confirm it is the starter motor before deciding anything, but I tell them I don’t want to pay to have it towed there without knowing what their resolution will be, so they tow it to their dealership at no cost to me. They confirm it is the starter motor, and service calls me to tell me it will be approximately $650 plus labor as if I’m just confirming the price as a formality before they begin work. When I flip out and tell them I’m supposed to have a warranty, I’m told I should speak with the sales manager again. The sales manager explains that I should have been told the total price is $650 with labor. We talk about how he said he was going to make things right and I explain I’m not expecting the warranty to be honored going forward, but that for this repair I contacted Northeast Acura with the understanding that the contract was 5 years and that I felt lied to when I discovered my warranty was only three years. I said I wasn’t opposed to buying another warranty to cover myself going forward, but I was primarily concerned with getting the car fixed now. The sales manager continues to say he wants to “make things right”, and suggests I’ve proposed a quid pro quo (that I didn’t) of buying a warranty if he fixes the car. I reiterate that if the price is reasonable, I’m willing to buy a warranty, but my main concern is getting my wife’s car fixed. He states he’ll get back to me with a warranty price. I call CNA National to ask how much a one/three/five year warranty will be on my car and will told that I can’t buy directly from them, nor can I buy one for my Civic from a dealer, because dealerships sell CNA warranties when they sell a car. Multiple local garages have quoted me sub-$350 prices to replace the starter motor. Northeast Acura does not get back to me, so I call back to speak with the sales manager. The sales manager said that the one year warranty will be over $1000 (he gave me an exact figure, but it was high enough that I just laughed), or fixing the car is $650. I’d had enough and let them know I’d have a local garage tow my car from their dealership. All said and done, these guys promised everything would be taken care of when buying the car. These guys required multiple days of pushing to fix a key that I never saw until the car was delivered. These guys repeated said they’d do their best to make things right before ultimately doing nothing, showing that what another garage could do for $320 (only $220 more than the $100 deductible I repeatedly said I would pay) with parts and labor at a profit was more than Northeast Acura was willing to do to take care of a customer who was told one thing and given another. I sincerely hope my experience was the exception not the rule, but the key issue and warranty issue seem to imply a pattern to me.

Shelby of Northeast Acura, Latham, NY went out of her way to accommodate me while I was looking at what turned out to be my new car. She answered all my questions and took the time to work with me on price. After leaving this dealership with my new car, I had a couple of questions so I emailed her. She was very prompt with her response and was eager to please. She earned a 5 Star rating!

Small but reliable

by lbancroft485 on 03/10/2015

Sales Consultant: Chris Z. Finance Manager: Sondra O. When you go to Northeast Acura it feels a bit small. The last place I purchased a vehicle is one of the biggest dealerships in Upstate NY and when you walk into one of their showrooms it's a little overwhelming. I feel like that's used to breakdown the car buyer a little, so that the sales department has the upper hand. This is not the case at Northeast. There, they allow you to feel in control of the situation, while keeping a firm ground, letting you know that the sales process you are a part of is a two-way street. Everyone there was incredibly nice and willing to help out in any way. Obviously, this has a bit to do with maintaining a level of decorum as befits a professional sales environment. However, the feeling I got, as someone who's been in sales the better part of a decade, is that the people who work at this particular dealership actually care about customer service; a level of humanity seldom found in the car dealership world. I was having trouble with getting my credit union I do my banking with to give me the line of credit I needed to get the car I wanted. There was no reason for their resistance, other than the fact that I'm in sales and they couldn't figure out my pay stub in comparison to my 2014 W-2. I was just about to walk out with my head down, figuring that if the credit union I currently had my truck loan through and have been a member of for over 10 years couldn't help me, no one could. Sondra, the finance manager, asked if I'd let her try and help me, she worked her magic and got me exactly what I needed, in the payment range I needed, along with some pretty nice extended warranty options. Also, I'd like to add, as a final and defining thought, that Chris, the sales consultant that I worked with, was very good. Often times, while shopping for cars, people find themselves in a one-on-one with a pushy and impatient sales person. I can confidently say that the impatience one may find in those situations is driven by the fear created by the prospect of not closing the sale and not making money. Chris was the antithesis of that archetype. Even as someone who's wife is expecting, he had patience, he was empathetic but not too agreeable and most of all, he didn't outwardly show that hunger for the sale most good sales people have building in their belly. All in all, I will go back to Northeast for my next car, for sure. I hope Chris is still on board there, because he will be the sales person I work with, when the time comes. Moreover, I would recommend my own mother to shop there. I'm not saying that they'll have the perfect deal for everyone, but I am confidently saying that they'll try their hardest to make what you want work for you.

My experience with Northeast Acura

by 2FeelGood on 02/16/2015

I started developing interest in MDX through a friend who owned one. We visited Northeast Acura one Saturday and we met one David Polson. He took us through the inventory of used MDX. In fact he allowed me to drive one home to show to my wife. The mileage and the color of the car was not my choice so I left a list of my preference with the sales Department. Less than 2 weeks after our meeting Northeast Acura called to inform me they had found an MDX for me. I drove there to take a look and it was beyond what I wanted. After negotiations, I met the lady in charge of accounting. She was fantastic: receptive and respective. If the two employees are a true representatives of what the rest of the employees are, then I doff my heart to the dealership. David's tutoring on how to operate the car is beyond description. I will give the dealership 4.6 out of 5. Nyantakyi Akuoko

He answered all the questions we had, showed us how to use all the features in the car and made sure we had no questions before we left. It was a pleasure dealing with someone who is enthusiastic about his job and the product he sells.

Another great Acura experience

by kateh39 on 02/05/2015

I've been servicing my 2005 TL at NE Acura for 9 years and decided to test drive the TLX, planning to trade in sometime late this year. Danielle V. was very helpful on the test drive, pointing out all the features and not pushing the sale, but explaining all the options on the TLX. I decided to buy sooner rather than later and have spent the past week learning a lot of things about my new car (many of which Danielle had pointed out when I picked it up, but which I am gradually absorbing.) She has answered all of my emails promptly and helped me adjust to a car with features I never dreamed of.

A good sales experience

by Eric12845 on 02/02/2015

My wife and I went to Northeast Acura 9 days ago after having decided that we were were probably going to buy a Toyota Highlander. We met our salesman, Chris Zogby, who took us for a test drive in an MDX. He did a good job explaining the features of the car. We intended to leave the Acura dealership and go to both Mercedes and Volvo dealerships. My wife has driven a Volvo for many years. However, Chris asked us what they could do to keep us from from going to the other dealerships. We decided to buy the MDX if we could agree on a price. Chris worked with us and his manager to get an acceptable price that included giving us a fair trade-in price, sight unseen, for a car we had in storage. We picked up the car 2 days ago. Chris spent a long time showing my wife the instrumentation. We are very pleased to have worked with him, and highly recommend him.
