Stay clear not a trustworthy dealership

by GS on 08/27/2019

My husband received an offer letter from Johnson Dodge for a good trade in value on our 2008 Dodge Ram truck. While looking at used cars at multiple dealerships, a woman from Dover Dodge called my husband & told him to come in & look at some of their truck & to bring the letter from Johnson & they would see what they could do (leading us to believe they would try to work with us & come close to what Johnson was offering). So we went to Dover Dodge on Saturday. The salesman we worked with took the letter to a manager – Rich, to look at. To keep the story short – What they offered us on a trade wasn’t even half of what Johnson had in the letter & not even close to what Kelly Blue Book’s low end for trade in value. They wouldn’t budge on the trade in value nor the value of the used truck we looked at & it was $150 / month above what we said was our max budget. We said we weren’t going to buy anything & ask for our letter back, the letter was conveniently missing. They first lied to us & said another employee took it home in their brief case. When I demanded they call that employee & get the letter back, the employee didn’t have it nor did he know where it was. In fact none of the employees knew where it was, & they didn’t seem to be too concerned to look for it just shuffled some papers around. Scott Zedowski (General Sale’s manager) didn’t seem like it was a big deal, & gave me no indication that he would actually continue to look for it. The following Monday I called Scott & he “said” he was looking for it, but did seem hopeful (because he know it was already thrown away). Another woman who I spoke to said it was probably thrown away & why did I want it anyway. So this shows me that this company does not value their customers & their property. The letter was supposedly given to a manager & he can’t be responsible enough to return a document that they had for no more than an hour. Scott also lied to us when he said he contacted the sales manager at Johnson – he just called another sales person he knew at Johnson. That was just some of the BS I was told. We did go to Johnson & they thought it was pretty shady what Dover Dodge did, & offered us $3,500 more for our truck than Dover’s offer. Dover was just looking for a sale & when they couldn’t get one from us they conveniently made our letter disappear. I don’t trust this dealership & would never do business with them & have warned my family & friend! So if you are looking for a car, there are many other dealerships, go to one that can be trusted & treats their customers better.

Amazing

by sagpatel89 on 08/30/2016

First time at Dover Dodge and it wont be my last. JC Castillo was extremely helpful, and very entertaining. Buying or leasing a new car can be excruciating but with JC it was fun, fast, and simple. I will definitely be back at Dover Dodge soon for my next vehicle purchase .

Excellent Overall Experience

by coachhoyt on 08/04/2016

This was about as painless a transaction as you can have. Kevin Zidlick (my salesman) did an excellent job of getting me what I wanted, without pressuring me to get more than I needed. Can't say enough about him!

Bought a 2016 Jeep Wrangler

by BobRandolph1 on 05/23/2016

I bought a new 2016 Jeep Wrangler on May 19th. Kevin Zidlick was a pleasure to work with and he is an excellent sales associate (very professional). I didn't know much about Wranglers and Kevin took the time to explain all the different models and options available. The dealership had a good selection of Jeeps and has the ability to find a vehicle if it is not in stock.

My salesman was Justin and he was excellent. He was patient, entertaining, and very knowledgeable. He didn't hover or try to rush us. I got a great deal and the financing was so quick and easy. The gentleman in Financing was very patient really nice.I told my brother and he is interested in going to this dealership for an upgraded truck.

1st time buyer with Dover Dodge. Found the 2014 truck I wanted & drove it off the lot. Kevin Z. (salesman), was easy to work with and their Finance Rep made the purchase a breeze.

Good experience

by jeepnj1 on 04/01/2015

Went in very skeptical after having 2 bad experiences trying to buy a new and used car at other dealers. Was pleasantly surprised -- worked with Jason -- he was very down-to-earth, knowledgeable and answered all our questions honestly -- no crap -- which means a lot -- no one wants to walk out of a dealership with that "I really did not want this" feeling after signing on the dotted line -- and I did not -- I got what I wanted and it was a very fair deal too -- I would recommend this dealership and Jason --

4th car bought from them

by spm14 on 01/02/2015

This is our 4th car purchased from them. We will continue to purchase cars from them. Be careful of the new sales manager from NY though. He might be the next deal breaker.

Bought Dodge Journey , no complains so far...

by JerseyMaid on 12/02/2014

I was a little worried since I saw a few bad reviews that made that dealership look like terrible choice. Since I saw a few positive too I've decided to give it a try because location was really convenient and we were kind of "in a tight corner" with our car giving up slowly and winter coming. I am happy I did that because our sales person - Jack(Polish BTW) - was really friendly and capable to resolve most of the issues we had due to our little complicated, in several aspects, situation. No pressure on "deposit" even though we had to leave for few hours twice (work issues), willing to pre-negotiate price instead of running back and forth between desk and manager's office (meaningful time saver since for me it's just a game anyway...lol) and few other seemingly just details made us feel much more willing to close the deal at that particular place. Also a financial dept. was a pleasant surprise since we were patiently explained details and additional options, and I was able to adjust some stuff, like for example extension of warranty, to our needs (4 instead of 5 years/100k - important to someone who drives little more on average every year) what lowered our total. We even got some freebies on service. Over all it was much better experience than our last two visits during which we bought new cars. PS I have a strong suspicion that at least two most recent highly negative reviews were wrote by customers who were not really willing to , so to speak, meet in the middle of the road...but still I may be wrong. As to me, I am happy I did not listen and went in to see myself what's up. Different price can be explained and even lowered, and service... from what I was told the first time I bought new car, it can be serviced at any dealership under a warranty. No reason to lose a chance for a good deal on a car and loan...( and working with salesman that didn't lose interest in our questions about a car as soon as deal was closed)

STAY AWAY!!!

by NataZ on 10/17/2014

Bought a Brand New Jeep Cherokee 2014 from Dover Dodge and Jeep, WORST MISTAKE EVER! Since I drove it off the lot the windshield fluid pump/motor was non functional, so I'm not able to clean off my windshield. I took the car in for service thinking it was a quick, easy fix, after all it is a brand new car, but that was not the case. Long story short, It's 3 weeks later and 2 service appointments later, countless phone calls, and still not motor... apparently it's on back order nationwide. Tried calling the dealership to ask about options regarding the above matter, they said they cant do anything that the car is under warranty. So here I am, still driving a car that is supposed to be NEW but is not functional and not safe to drive, and no one at the dealership gives a crap. On top of that I received a bill from the bank for excessive wear and tear for $747, which was supposed to be forgiven by Dover Jeep as an incentive for trading in my old Jeep for a new one and now they DON'T want to have anything to do with that and are telling me that I'm responsible to pay. They have stopped returning calls and never pick up their phone! The only way I was able to speak with someone there was when I filed a complaint through JEEP (the actual company) and they called the dealership and got them on the phone for me. So DON'T waste your time or money, Go somewhere else. The WORST dealership by far with Rude, Arrogant, Careless sales people and managers is DOVER DODGE AND JEEP!!!!

Red Jeep

by gmnemecek on 01/04/2014

The Jeep is my fifth car from your dealership. I do not buy cars often---maybe once every 6 to 8 years---but since I came to NJ in 1983 I have always gone to Dover to buy and service. You were open with me when I traded in in my 1976 Volare in 1985.so I came back.

Horrible!!!

by trade99 on 06/23/2013

Poor customer service, typical car sales tactics and you get one price and then when you sign it is higher. Good luck. You will need it. I will never recommend this dealership or buy there again.

BEWARE.....

by thong24k on 05/23/2008

I got the Jeep Patriot from this dealer. If I had known that I can cancel the order I will. Here is what happen...I went to test drive and like the vehicle so I decided to buy it. The saleman gave me the price for 2X4 at $16880 after the $500 cashback and $2000 dealer incentive, so I agreed figured to give saleman some credit because he had to make a living, too. I don't mind paying it. But then I started to smell fishy when he said he didn't have a car in possesion. He had to order me the color that I wanted to other dealer, but will required me to put down $1000 to insure that I won't back off since it cost him to move the car. I did that. I waited for 4 days. Finally, the car come and I went to get it on Monday after I got off from work. I went there about a little before 6pm. I had waited for the finance guy until 8 pm. Here come the finance guy name GARY.....BEWARE.....He asked me if I wanted an extended warrantee for 7yrs/100,000miles. I asked him how much....he said....$1248 which I said ok. Then he asked if I need a service contract which cover oil change for 3 years which cost $595....I said no. To cut it short....at the end.....you know ....he just gave you the contract and said....sigh here and here and here and here ...who know how many paper I have to sign. I put down $4,000 cash with trade in $1,000 and $2,500 incentive. Here how it should work, when you trade in your car the deduct of $1,000 should be before it taxed right? He put it after taxed. Then here the worst part, after we finished everything. I look at the contract paper. First line....the price of the car...$19,380... Window Etch..........$289 ( Where this come from, we didn't agree on that, he didn't mention or asked if I need this) Extended Warrantee$1248 Service contract $ 595 (I said no I don't need this, but he still put this in, incase I didn't check the paper) Tire Hazadard $ 285 (again he put this in without mention this to me) Life insurance $303 ( what this coming from, he even sign his name on it for me) So, total after the incentive, down payment and trade in....I owed them about $15500 to finance. During the conversation, he will tried to lure you by tell you about how much your payment will be each month which is about $280. Most of consumer would said it cheap right, but think about it if you don't pay attention you pay another $5000 for those unessary thing they tried to sneak in to make more money. I was so upset. I went back the next day, the guy...GARY....he made face ...you know that he didn't want to see me. I told him to take out everything because he didn't mention the life insurance, Window Etch, and to take out Service contract, Tire Hazadard and even Extended Warrantee...I just want to pay for the price that we agreed the first time. If I can returned the car, I will, too. Then he said ok. Here come the other part that pissed me off again. He not even asked me how long I wanted to finance. He just put 5yrs for 4.99%. I told him I want only 3yrs figured that the interest would be chaeper right????WRONG???? He said the interested would be 5.99% for 3yrs. fincaning. Who's in their right mind get that? I would like to asked the owner of this dealership to check this out for me. The interest for 3 yrs is more than 5yrs....I never heard of that. Now you know, I will never buy any vehicle from this dealer again....and not advise anyone to go to this dealership. Oh, I didn't mention when he said that 3yrs financing is to pay 5.99% vs. 5yrs 4.99%, I throw the cash to him and said never mind the interest, here I paid c
