Worst experience ever

by Txtransplant on 11/19/2017

Buying a new car from Causeway was a horrible experience. I got bounced among salespeople, none of whom were knowledgeable or honest. The new car they delivered me had obvious damage and they gave me a hard time about fixing it. When they finally did, I got my new car, a week after I paid for it, with trash in the back seat and all the stations preset to country! There was absolutely no handover process. ..they just handed me the keys and said call with questions. As I drove home I was shocked to see that the options on the car were different than what I had ordered and that there was no inspection sticker on the car. I tried repeatedly to get some one from causeway to work with me but every level of management I reached out to just ignored me. No one called for weeks to tell me my plates were in..now it gets even worse. I went in to get my plates and a salesman takes A drill and drills a hole in my bumper in the wrong place. Again I am trying to get any manager to help me. I finally get the attention of the floor manager on duty who promises me someone will call me asap about fixing my bumper. I wait 48 hours and hear nothing and try again reaching out to causeway management. Then that floor manager finally calls me back and becomes verbally abusive, actually raising his voice and yelling at me like I had damaged his car! I subsequently got passed back and forth between sales people who made contradictory promises and never did get my bumper fixed. Lastly I would like to point out despite being assured repeatedly by every sales person they put me with that I would get credit for the sales points I had accumulated ($265) this never happened and I got screwed out of that money.

Horrible

by coleyq106 on 07/28/2017

Once I signed on the dotted line, I was useless. I was issued a promissory note for the remaining part of my deposit dating 3 months from delivery day. I started to wonder when my plates would come in being that they were due to expire soon. So, I contact my salesman, who couldn’t figure out why my plates weren’t ready – he even thought, he called to tell me they were. Then suddenly it dawns on him that “new policy” states all money must be in house before they release the plates. I was never told that they would hold my plates hostage until I paid. What's the point of giving me time to pay if I have to drive my car illegally until I do - seems like a slip of the hand trick. So, I call the NJ Dept of Motor Vehicle and ask, DMV tells me it is illegal. A dealer is allowed 30 days and only 30 to provide motor vehicle plates, no exceptions. I share this with the manager, he says that’s not true (shocking). So needless to say, I was told I could get an extension on my temps by the manager (Tuesday). I call back the next day (Wednesday) for the very extension he promised me and am suddenly told he can’t do it because my plates and registration are complete, so I have no choice but to pay the money or drive on an expired temp. So, I pay (Thursday) and he overnights my plates. FedEx shows up with my plates, I am excited because I will finally be done. But to my shock and amazement, I am missing my inspection sticker. The girls one job is to submit and send plates, how do you forget that? Now I know you are thinking, well just use the one that’s on the vehicle – there isn’t one. So, to drive my car with my plates, I need an inspection sticker. So, me rushing to pay my deposit did me no good because I still must drive on an expired temp. I reach out to my salesman again and am basically told that it’s no big deal and I should be fine – “cops shouldn’t pull you over for that” – well thanks captain obvious, I thought you were a car salesman, not a law enforcement officer, but you must be undercover. Shockingly enough, once again the dealer is wrong because in the state of NJ your vehicle must be inspected if you have plates on – and if I get pulled over with an empty windshield, I am pretty sure the cop will notice. Oh and did I mention that my plates were not done before I paid, it was after. My registration date is the Thursday I paid, not the Wednesday he was supposed to extend me and said he couldn’t because they were done. In conclusion, I was blackmailed, lied to and taken advantage of. No wonder they are one of the lowest grossing dealers in NJ.

Great dealership that helped made my first purchase an easy one

by mattywiggles on 08/04/2014

Amazing people who are willing to break down any part of the purchase for you to better understand. My salesperson named Bob was very easy to talk to and was willing to spend time and teach me how to drive a manual transmission. He made my first car purchase an easy one. Will go back to them again.

Beware of Spot delivery scam, yo yo scam, Dealer financing

by rammaj on 07/22/2009

I personally have had a good experience and a Bad experience with this Dealership. I bought a new car in 2005 no problems. But now here I buy a new car in 2009 and had a terrible experience! I think the economy has changed so much that people will do just about anything for a buck, and unfortunately this greed has hit this dealership. Atleast that is the feeling I got from my last experience. We went car "looking" one evening, and pretty much got "talked into" buying a new car. We were just looking. We told the sales people that our credit was not good, we were totally upfront and honest with them. Why waste everyone's time. They proceeded to let us know how many programs there were out there for people like us. We spent 5 hours in the showroom, and after several attempts to just walk out, they came up with a deal for us and put us in a 2009 Nissan Sentra. We left feeling satisfied. Then 14 days later they called us to let us know that they could not find a bank to finance our loan? We didn't quite understand this because we had signed all the contracts and had notified our other loan company to let them know that our current car loan wasn't late, that Causeway paid it off. Boy was I wrong. Causeway told us that they were sorry, but we either had to return the car or put more money down, or they could put us in an "older car". We were told that they practice this all the time. We said no to all and returned the car, They told us how sorry they were and offered to put a new windshield in our current vehicle, which of course we took, because ours was broken, But told them that would not keep us from trying to protect other people from what we just went through. I am writing the BBB. After extensive searching on the internet to see if this has happened to other people, I found all kinds of scams and things that car dealer ships use to reel in their buyers. I want to warn people to learn things before you go in. Try to get financing before you go into dealerships, don't sign papers that say "Subject to loan approval" if it is not 100% the day you sign, don't sign. It's that simple. Please take a minute to visit these sites. Knowledge is power. We were taken, and unfortunately for them, I had 2 people whose cars leases were up and they were looking to "buy". Needless to say the salespersons name that I gave to them was quickly withdrawn. Everyone that knows me and my husband, now knows about shady car deals, and through our experience knows how to protect themselves, where to buy and where not to buy. [violative content deleted]
