Lies, False Advertisement, Unethical Behavior
by 02/04/2017
onIn early December, I was searching for an inexpensive commuter car for work. I found that Pappas Toyota had an Echo for sale on their webpage. I spoke to an online sales representative named Corey Miller regarding the vehicle. This conversation lasted over an hour and included topics such as vehicle condition, price, and delivery. Corey stated that the vehicle was in very good shape inside and out. This was also stated in the online description of the vehicle. Corey said the price was negotiable. I told him a specific maximum amount that I would be willing to pay for the car and asked if it would be worth my time to come in. I was told come on in. Upon arrival, I was told Corey wasnt even a sales representative and was handed off to another sales person named Jessica Vargas. When I was shown the car it was obvious that its condition was FAR from the advertised/stated very good shape inside and out. The vehicle had large dents all over the roof, many small dents on the hood and sides, scratches everywhere, and bald tires. I cited the items to Jessica and stated that their description online and by Corey was blatantly false advertisement. Their requested price was way too high. Even my highest offer was too high for it. After the test drive, I offered a couple hundred dollars lower than the max offer I stated before showing up. Jessica blew me off and started walking away. I told her she needed to submit the offer to the sales manager before denying it. After a long wait, I was given a counter offer of the full price of the car. This was far higher than the max price I told Corey online. The price where he said it wouldnt be a waste of my time to come in. Needless to say, when Jessica gave presented it to me, I was a little aggravated. I asked to speak with the sales manager to discuss why I was told the above by Corey and the false advertisement. The manager stated the price was negotiable in that the tow off the lot would be given free. That was a $20 value. He then dismissed the false advertisement saying thats how they do business. So, not only was a lied to, but the trip was a complete waste of my time. The only good thing of the event was the fact they had a promotion where you would receive a $25 gift card for test driving a car. I gave the manager the paperwork and he said I would receive it in 7-10 days. After a month of waiting, I inquired online with Corey about the gift card. I was told that my address was missing (LIE). I asked to speak with the person who told him that. Several requests later, I was finally given a phone number. I called and spoke with Coreys manager, Matthew, explaining the issue and asking why I was lied to. His response was that the gift card was being sent and then he hung up on me. I called back seeking clarification as to why the card wasnt sent out and if he had the form in front of him. He said he processes the gift cards and never saw it. He even went so far as to say it was probably thrown away by the sales manager I spoke with when I did my test drive. So, not only did I catch them in the missing address lie, he very clearly stated that it was most likely thrown away by their management. Clearly that wouldve been a breach of the terms and conditions of the promotion. Another term would be illegal. Matthew hung up on me several more times before transferring me to another sales manager named Glenn Ritter. Glenn immediately talked down to me and even called me several names. He did not care about the companys actions or their false advertisement. He even taunted me saying to call a lawyer. My overall experience and undisputable unethical behavior of the Pappas Toyota management are truly appalling. I am a veteran and I have never been treated with such disrespect. No one should give this company business.

The Best Ben Ever
by 07/23/2016
onI purchased my first car from Ben McCoy. I am not going to lie to any of the readers but I was so nervous, All I know is that my dad told me to not talk to a salesmen and go and look around after they close. I ran out of time and went in on my lunch break and I'm so glad I did not take my dad's advice. Ben talked to me outside and just kinda let me tell him what I was looking for, and we found it I am so happy that I met him. I'm not from here but when the time comes for a new car I will go see Ben! I wish you all the best Ben!!! P.S. Dad said I got a great deal!!

2015 Toyota Sienna Mini-van
by 01/10/2015
onI had the pleasant experience of working with Dave "Air Wolf" DuBois of Tom Pappas Toyota to select the vehicle I felt would most benefit my wife and I since we now go on vacations several times a year. The Sienna is larger than my old 2004 Mazda MPV Van, allowing more luggage, etc. for our extended vacations. Each Department at Tom Pappas Toyota was very courteous and helpful in making this a pleasant experience.

Best Price, Straightforward, No Hassles
by 05/17/2014
onI used Edmonds request for price quotes from local dealerships for a new 2013 Prius. This was August 2013. They offered the best price. I went to test drive and purchase the vehicle. There was no sales pressure. The salesman (Ferguson) was very helpful. I was surprised that there were no additional costs or fees other than what they had quoted me over the phone. Very pleasant experience.

Stay Away
by 06/07/2012
onWorst dealership I've ever been to. Found a van they had listed on line. Called Tony G to work out a price over the phone since I live 100 miles away. We agreed on a price and he assured me it was a done deal since I told him I didn't want to drive all that way for nothing. Took off work early drove down and he raised the price 1000.00 And the van was in no condition to drive with the windshield shattered. Hail damage which they failed to list on line. Needless to say didn't buy van and will never buy anything from Tom Pappas Toyota. Wish I could give less than 1 star.

[violative content deleted] STAY AWAY!
by 09/24/2010
onDISHONEST, MISREPRESENTATION and attempting to take advantage of me! I drove out to Pappas Toyota after contacting them first by telephone during which they confirmed their advertising that they were offering "several thousand, up to $6000 over blue book value for ANY trade-in" including a "clunker". Blue book value on my vehicle is $8000 -- they offered $4800 and tried to tell me they thought my vehicle might have a "tranny problem in the future" and there is a problem with the "ball bearings". Either they are [violative content deleted] or even worse they felt they could take advantage of a 70 year old little white haired lady!

HORRIBLE PLACE
by 03/28/2010
onThis is the worst dealership i ever been to. I found a vehicle i liked and while filling out the paperwork on it, i realized the raised the price by $1000. Then when i said something bout it he went to check on it and found out someone else was on a test drive in it. Then came back and said he wanted it and made an offer and said if we want it we have to match his offer. Then they said there was 3 people in front of me and it would be about 1 1/2 hours. I spent over 5 hours waiting to talk to finance just to find out the bank was closed and said he would call me monday morning and let me know whats goin on with the loan. He didnt. I call monday afternoon and talked to someone and he said he would check and call me right back. He didnt. I had to call a few hours later and talked to the salesman to figure out what was goin on. Dont waste your time with this place.

Friendly Service and No Pressure Buying
by 10/11/2009
onI bought my Scion XB from this dealership two years ago and it was as painless as car buying can be. Everyone at the dealership is friendly and helpful. Steve W goes out of his way to make sure you are looking at cars that meet your needs and budget. I recently had to get back into the car buying market (car was totaled) and Steve was my first call. If you are looking for a Toyota or Scion, call Steve W at Pappas Toyota.

OK, but not great pricing
by 08/09/2007
onGave a better than average initial price quote and then never re-quoted when they were under-bid. Might be OK if you need to buy in a hurry, but that's a really bad idea when buying a new car. Of course, there are many Toyota dealers in St. Louis who are much worse than this one, so make sure to get a price quote from them ...
