A HORRIBLE AND REGRETTABLE EXPERIENCE

by cjsmmy on 10/10/2014

My issues with Seeger Toyota are far to extensive deserve no rating at all. I purchased a new 2014 Avalon Limited after driving large SUV's for 16 years. A week after purchasing the car, I informed my salesman that I was not happy with the car and what were my options to undo the deal, trade it back in, etc. I had not even paid sales tax nor registered the car and the legally the car was still owned by them. After two days, the salesman called me back and informed me that his new car manager would be happy to take my vehicle back along with $8,000 and he would put me in a new Highlander which the sticker price was the same as the Avalon. I was appalled and felt extremely insulted on how they came up with those numbers. I felt I needed to escalate this to the GM and contacted Andy Seeger. He seemed to not care that I was not happy with the car and said that he would check with his new car manager to see what the numbers were and get back to me. He did the next day and basically told me the same thing. The car depreciates and that its not worth what I paid for it one week prior. I explained that it made me feel I was ripped off and overpaid for a car that a week prior wasn't even worth what he was telling me. I told him I would no longer be entertaining the thought of getting rid of it for that price and was very unhappy with the whole outcome. Fast forward to present and I have been having issues with the tire pressure monitoring and contacted the service dept at the dealership. The service advisor asked me to bring the car in and he would take a look at it. In the meantime, I had one of my employees check the air in the tires and he noticed that the front left rim had 4 very large gouges in the wheel itself. He called it to my attention and I said there is no way I did that damage to my new car in the last 6 weeks of owning it. There are no marks whatsoever on the tire to indicate that type of damage to the wheel and somehow I unfortunately overlooked it at the time of delivery which was at 8:30 in the evening nor the last few weeks of the having the car. I immediately contacted the same service man and told him what I just discovered and he said to get the car in as soon as possible. I took the car in yesterday morning and he observed the damage to the car. He agreed that there was way I could have sustained the damage myself and that it had of been there upon delivery of the vehicle 6 weeks prior and I had overlooked it. This new car came from another Toyota dealership in the St. Louis area and came with 306 miles on it upon delivery to me. Another thing I was unaware of at the time of delivery. Anyway he wrote up a service ticket and said that he would have someone check the air in the tires and sent myself and my son up the waiting area. 15 minutes later he came to the waiting lobby and said that they were finished and he would be ordering my a new wheel and would call me when it came in. My son and I then left. 3 hours later I received a call from his manager and said after reviewing the service call that they would not be replacing the wheel that it was my responsibility and that I did the damage. I emphatically responded that I did not and this was unfair that I was told they would order a new one and now they are reversing their offer. The man was extremely rude to the point that I was very mad at this situation and how it was being handled and hung up on him. I then made a call to the salesman who turned it over to the General Manager that I already had a negative experience with. I received a phone call from the GM at approx. 6 pm yesterday evening informing me that this was the decision and that I was responsible. I again explained that I was absolutely positive that I did not nor was responsible for this and he defiantly argued with me and even suggested that maybe someone had "beaten my wheel with a golf club" which was absolutely absurd. I continued to explain that the last 6 weeks the car had been no where except my garage and taking my boys to school and being at the emergence room parked in a handicap spot and he made a mockery of that and said that it happened there then. I felt like this man was being a complete jackass about this and I wanted no more of this conversation with him! He even said I was lying when I said his service tech told me that they were ordering me a new wheel. He said that's not what he told me that he told me that he would have to discuss it with his manager and he would get back to me. This is not what the guy told me and my son was right there and heard every word as well. This has been the most negative experience in purchasing a new car I could have ever imagined and I can't believe how rude, unfair, ignorant, fraudulent and just plain dastardly this GM is. I would like to say that the management and their employees definitely are beyond the worst I have ever experienced in buying and servicing a new car. The General Manager and his staff lacks customer service skills below what you would find in a fast food restaurant. The GM assumes no responsibility or fairness for his nor his employees actions and is firmly a person that is untruthful, defiant, accusatory and has no loyalty to his customers. When the deal is done it is done and what he says he believes is the righteous truth. He has made a mockery of my problems with his dealership and I now completely and wholeheartedly regret ever making this purchase. I just want them to replace the wheel which I know was damaged beforehand and I unfortunately never saw it and they refuse to take any responsibility and at all then have made me feel like I'm some freaky woman that had buyers' remorse and how dare I feel that they did nothing to help me when they were trying to take complete advantage of me.

Used car unsafe

by Scott2014 on 05/29/2014

At 11:00am on the 29th of January 2014 I walked into Seeger Toyota St. Louis to look at a used 2000 Honda Civic. My salesperson was Randy H. (although he gave me his managers card - Ben C.). Randy made it a point to tell me they only check the oil and provide an inspection. I took the car down the street to a local shop and had the car inspected. They found 2,300.00 worth of needed repairs, including safety items. This is on a 3,000.00 car. The car had a major oil leak and needed both head and oil pan gaskets replaced. It needed both engine and transmission mounts replaced, belts replaced and control arms replaced. Randy acted super surprised (of course). Again he reminded me that they don't really look over the cars. Really ? It took a local garage 40 minutes to find all of this. So I guess Randy was saying they don't care about the safety of the used cars they sell ? Surely he can't be saying their dealership 'pencil whips' inspections ??? Because a shredded ball joint will not pass inspection. Maybe he's saying the mechanics at Seeger aren't that great ? Or that their attention to detail isn't all that great ? Oh - I'm sure Seeger will say the local garage is full of it. Well, whatever excuse Seeger comes up with - we all know the drill. I'd avoid this dealership like the plague if I were you. Scott from St. Louis In my above previous review - I made an error it seems. Ben C. is not the sales manager at Seeger - he's the sales manager at Dobbs right down the street. Seeger salesman Randy H. slipped me Ben's card !! Is Seeger in cahoots with Dobbs ? Surely Dobbs wouldn't have missed all those mechanical problems !??? We'll never know.

Purchase TWO used cars at Seeger

by kkjr2 on 03/13/2013

I walked into Seeger for the first time reluctantly because i had never had a great experience with purchasing new or used cars in the past. This was the first time i can say i walked away confident that i had gotten a good deal and shocked at how friendly the entire staff at Seeger had been. I had done my research and knew, for the most part what i wanted. Mike R. helped assess the car, both positives and negatives. After i had completed the purchase and encouraged by the great experience, i decided to trade in an old van i had (220,xxx miles) on another used car. They gave me more than i expected on the trade in and i left with two cars and great respect for a well run, friendly and respectful experience. PS: in the category of "little things count": their waiting room had snacks and sodas for free, both cars had FULL tanks of gas when i left and we (my wife and I) had a great conversation with the owner. Nice.

Friendly and Comfortable Service

by hyorg on 03/01/2013

Harvey was great! It was so easy and effortless to find, try, and get information on the car I was interested. It definitely helped me feel like I was making the right choice for my first new car. I loved that I was able to come back and buy the very car I had test driven.

New Truck Purchase

by bob080 on 02/18/2013

My wife and I were walking around the lot, looking at your in-stock trucks, fairly late in the afternoon. I think it was pretty close to closing, but that's when we started our walk through. Harvey Co walked out (we were all the way out at the back of the lot) greeted us and inquired about what we were interested in. We weren't even actually anticipating buying at that time, but Harvey answered questions and explained every feature and option on the trucks to the point that he sold us on buying a truck then and from your dealership. Harvey was very attentive and outgoingly friendly. He was knowledgable and used his knowledge to figure out exactly what we were looking for. Harvey explained that he could get probably find whatever we wanted so far as finding one at another dealership with the equipment that we wanted. My scheduling is a little unusual and Harvey also worked with us on that to finalize everything and ultimately pick up the truck. My first oil change appointment was also totally painless and without any problems or complications. I don't know who the service writer was, but he was polite and professional as well. The process was quick and I will return there for future services even though I don't live nearby. I will continue to patronize your dealership again without any hesitation.

Go here first!

by opie194 on 02/03/2013

A quick summary: This was the best dealership I have been to, period. I have visited dozens of dealerships test driving cars (and purchased two horrible Hyundais) in the last 18 months. I hated the experiences at other dealerships, and I hated the other cars I purchased. When I had enough of my last Hyundai, I walked into Seeger Toyota's used car dealership because I was convinced I didn't want a new car. Ray worked with me to discover what I wanted from a car, then talked to me about a variety of choices, and discussed how each would benefit me, and even gave me the negatives. In the end, I purchased a new 2012 Toyota Prius. Most employees at most dealerships (not Seeger) tell you they are a "no pressure" dealership, but when you try to leave the sales manager snags you and says "what went wrong, how can I sell you a car?". Then, he assures you he can give better deals than the sales person you were working with. When you try to leave again, the top manager steps in and drags you into his office. When I looked at a variety of cars with Ray at Seeger, he told me to go home and think about what I wanted from a car. That night, I did my research and found that the deal he offered me on a new Prius was actually better than I could have hoped for. The next day, I went back to Seeger and by 3:00 in the afternoon, I drove away in my Prius. A week has passed, and I have driven 700 miles in my wonderful new car. It is far better than anything I have ever purchased, and the fuel economy is great. If the Toyota Prius isn't for you, one of the excellent sales representatives at Seeger will find a car for you, new or used.

Beyond the Call!!!

by jasonissac on 02/02/2013

Mark W. along with the rest of the staff at Seeger Toyota were extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and friendly. After being disappointed with our previous dealer, we went to Seegers and are so happy we did!!! The service we experienced from Mark has been above and beyond the call. Mr. W. know his cars and he is an expert in customer relations. Thanks so much for making our purchase such an enjoyable experience!!! Mark - we wish you and everyone at Seeger all the best and will definitely be referring you to all of our friends. Respectfully, Jason, Anna, and Kajsa Oldenborg-Harris

Amazing customer service.

by von12 on 01/20/2013

Every part of the process was great. Everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. It felt like they really wanted me to have a good experience in purchasing my vehicle not just for them to make a sale. The customer service is what sold me and it is a bonus that I love my Rav 4.

great, fully recommend

by Boooo on 11/19/2012

The service here is professional and the environment here is quite welcome and warm. I have been to Bommarito Ford to see the 2013 Focus Ford before I purchased the 2013 toyota corolla here. The comparison is evident. There those guys would not offer the best price for you at first which might make it quite difficulty to make decision. Mark W. worked with me who is a very gentle and kind man. He would answer all the concerns and pay attention to resolve the problems you might have. Besides, after the purchase is complete, the staff in the company will continue to serve you. That feel like seeger toyota is the friend you can trust in the future. So from my experience, I will definitely recommend seeger toyota.

Typical, Sleazy Car Dealer

by henbacker on 08/09/2007

Took a test drive of a new Prius at this dealer, and got the "hungry salesperson" treatment (complete with followup nagging phone calls). Fortunately, I've learned to only buy new cars via e-mail (and phone calls that I initiate), so I was impervious to the sales push. Having said that, the e-mail price quotes you get from these guys are a joke. Not the worst in St. Louis, but about $800 more than what others will get you without any prodding (and Seeger's quotes will take a lot of prodding to get down to that inflated price). The internet sales guy, while helpful, always includes a "can I have your business?" line in his messages. Don't go for it - you can get a better elsewhere, I promise. All in all, this dealership has a really slimy, sleazy feel to it.
