Laughably Bad Service and Overcharge

I scheduled a service appointment 2 months in advance to have my car battery replaced. I dropped my car off at 10:45am and never heard from them until the next day after I called 3 times. They hadn't even looked at the car yet. After another full day, finally got my car back to the tune of $209 labor for a battery replacement. 3 days for a standard battery replacement.

Dont go to them

Had a very bad experience with them, normally I dont write reviews but I think its very important to bring up my experience with their team and it might help others. I bought a used certified car from them and the car had multiple issues, even after taking it there multiple times, the issues are not solved. They just try to fix it temporarily. Also till the sale happened, they were very responsive and after the sale they dont even answer your call. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, if you need peace of mind, please stay away from them.

Long-Time Customer Service Review

Our current 2019 XC90 is our sixth Volvo. Needless to say, we are committed Volvo owners. Our feelings for the product are derived equally from a superior vehicle and from a dealer that shows its commitment to its customers through the people it employs and the policies it adheres to. Day in and day out, Colin Ayers goes above and beyond to ensure that Herb Chambers customers receive terrific service. Very good experience after a not so great start

What started out as a very bad experience turned into a very good one. I began by arranging a test drive of a new Volvo which I saw on the dealer's website. However, when I arrived at the confirmed time, I was told that the car was not available. It was out as a service loaner and there seems to be very poor communication between the "internet department" where I made the appointment and the dealership. My wife and I had traveled 30 miles to get to the dealer in a neighboring state of ours, so we were very disappointed and not happy at all. The salesman, Rami Kordab, left me a voicemail later in the day saying that the car would be available in a few days. I had no intention at the time of making another trip to this dealer. However, the next day I got an email from the manager, Nick Salem, saying that they were eager to do what they could to earn my business. So I wrote back and said: bring the car to me! Well, they did! Rami drove the car to our house and my wife and I spent about a half hour driving it. Turns out the car, while a 2022, had been in use as a service loaner for about 8 months and had 9000 miles on it. However, it was in great shape. We negotiated a deal with a good price for my trade-in and a decent discount on the "new" car. All while standing in my driveway. Rami impressed me. It was a pleasure working with him. He lived up to all the promises he made, regarding a thorough cleaning of the car and taking care of the registration in our home state. He gave me a very helpful orientation to the car when I picked it up. So while we got off to a bad start due to poor communication (if you set up a test drive with the internet department, call the dealer to confirm), in the end I was very pleased. I was treated fairly and respectfully and would consider repeat business with Norwood Volvo and Rami.

Sketchy Used Vehicle Sales

I just purchased a 2019 used vehicle from Volvo Norwood. Upon getting it home I realized that the drivers headlight was cracked and will not pass state inspection in my state (NH). Nor does it pass in Massachusetts. “Registry of Motor Vehicles requires that the lenses on the lighting devices and reflectors required for a motor vehicle must 'be intact, clean, unobstructed, and free from cracks.” 540 Code. Mass. Regs. § 4.03(10)(d) (2008). This is a nearly $50,000 car with only 20k miles on it, not some piece of junk. I expect to be able to pass safety inspection in my state with such a purchase. After my purchase, I received several emails asking me to reach out to GM Errol Gaudette if I had any issues. So I reached out to my salesperson and to Errol Gaudette, the GM. Errol proceeded to basically ignore my emails and push all ownership of the situation onto the salesperson. After some back and forth, my salesperson told me they would not assist with repairing the issue and my only option is to cancel the sale. Not so easy when I’m an hour away, have already traded in my previous vehicle, cancelled the loan, insurance, and registration. A lot of work to just remedy a $900 repair on a $32,000 used vehicle. Errol has still not contacted me directly. I feel this is an absurd way to handle this issue, and the GM Errol has shown no ownership or communication. This transaction has demonstrated to me an outstanding lack of leadership and integrity for the Herb Chambers brand by Errol Gaudette.

Outstanding Experience !

This past October I had the pleasure of working with an incredible and knowledgable team. From the second I stepped into the door until the moment I picked up my brand new 2020 XC60 I was blown away but the experience. When arriving I was greeted by Avrum Mayman and Amanda DelSesto who made me feel relaxed and truly understood, each detail and ask I was looking for they were able to incorporate into our family's dream SUV. In the past so many times I've had anxiety entering a dealership and have felt under pressure and overwhelmed by the experience that I truly hated it, but at Volvo of Norwood instead I had a seamless buying adventure. Even when entering the financial aspect I felt taken care if and as if they were already family. Kevin Barry sat with my husband and I and went into all the details to make sure that we were well protected in the package we selected as well as well covered in the vehicle for the future of our ownership. When we had to wait for details to be worked on, we had a wonderful, clean, spotless living room area that accommodated my two young children and my husband. There was ample space, snacks, coffee, and tea. I look forward to coming to Volvo of Norwood for the remainder of my years and I look forward to being greeted again by this phenomenal and dedicated team.

We met with Avrum and he was absolutely fabulous. Extremely personable and very knowledgeable. He gave us a ton of information on the test drive and then once we got back and purchased the car he took the time to go over all of the features (which is A LOT!!). He was not your stereotypical car salesman, down to earth and not pushy by any stretch. We had a great experience with him and I would tell anyone looking for a car to see him!

Terrible service

Had one of the worst experiences at this dealership (I have purchased/leased cars for personal and work related use over 20 times in the last 20 years with various brands). Started off with the Sales Manager, Doug, not being able to comprehend the concept of 10,000 miles/year lease (came back to me 4 times with new negotiation offers with 7,500 miles...). Then he could not understand the concept of "total monthly payment" including sales tax. Even the sales person was telling him that the customer (me) told Doug numerous times the "total" amount has to have the sales tax included. Finally had to leave but decided to give them one more chance (to avoid going through this painful process from scratch at another dealership again). Increased my offer, talked to the sales person, he confirmed with Doug that the deal is on and said come in at noon. We came in at noon, waited for the sales person who finally showed up at 12:40pm without apologizing for being late, as if everything is just dandy. Then Doug, sales manager, decided to finally tell me that a "dealer payoff" was different then the "customer payoff" number I got for the trade (I am trading in a leased car). He said now the numbers have changed since the dealership has to pay more for my trade in then I would have to pay. I asked why he didn't figure this dealer payoff issue earlier before we were told to come in and deal is all set. He just stared with a dumb look at me and had no answer. At this point I asked for the General Manager basically just to let him know of our frustrating experience before we walk out the door. GM, Peter, was actually very professional and the only one who apologized for all the inconveniences and lack of courtesy/professionalism/communication that we experienced. We ended up making the deal thanks to Peter and were told to come back a few hours later to deal with credit manager because they were so busy (maybe have 2 credit managers working on weekends in December???). I think the staff, especially sales managers, need some serious training in customer service. Doug could not have been more indifferent to our needs and to wasting our time (in fact he told the sales person to tell us to come in when he knew there were issues, so basically lied to us trying to get extra money from us for "dealer payoff.") Basic manners also would have made this a less painful experience (how about "sorry, I was 40 minutes late," or "sorry we neglected to explain this to you earlier"). If you come here, lower your expectations of prompt courteous service to the bottom level. If you are used to total incompetence that unfortunately surrounds us everywhere, this place will feel like home!

We bought a 2016 volvo xc90 "certified" preowned from this dealership. A couple months later the vehicle was in a minor accident and we were told by the autobody shop the vehicle had previous major damage. Come to find out the airbags had been deployed in an accident before we bought the car. The dealership was aware but deliberately did not disclose this during the sale, though they are required to by law. DO NOT purchase a car from this dealership. They do NOT care about your safety, only their bottom dollar.

Great Personnel/Customer Service

I found this to be the easiest and best experience I've had buying a car. The moment I walked in the door I was greeted by one gentleman who opened the door for me. The receptionist asked my name and within seconds Amanda appeared then introduced me to Tom N. I never felt any pressure or stress during the whole process and Tom made it easy for me, having no doubts that I chose the right dealership. Tom took the time to explain everything about the vehicle, took me on a test drive covering all roads from highway to city streets. Tom was very easy to talk to and pleasant. I have never been so relaxed before when buying a car, new or used. Dealing with David M., the finance manager, was a pleasure as well. David laid everything out so that I understood where all numbers were coming from and explained, in detail, each option available to me for the vehicle I was purchasing. He shared his own use of these options on his vehicle making me feel better about whether I should purchase them. He also got me the lowest available finance rate even after I told him I might finance through my own bank. I found David to be very organized and thorough. Any question I had was answered by both Tom and David and I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone. The no haggle or "Smart Pricing" addition to this dealership is by far the best thing going when buying a car. Thank you again to everyone at Herb Chambers Volvo of Norwood. There should be more dealerships around like this one. A very happy, relaxed and satisfied buyer. This dealership's customer service is beyond any I have ever known. They make you feel like you are their most important customer.

Fantastic experience

Thank God Herb Chambers took over Dalzell! We could not have had a better experience buying our second Volvo from Thomas N. Tom was the sales representative who helped us pick our Volvo xc60, and for the first time ever buying a car, we didn't feel like we were part of a big charade. Tom was matter of fact, took our budget into consideration, and we quickly settled on a number we felt good about. Tom also seemed happy to help us test drive cars despite that it was a dark and rainy Saturday. In comparison, our experience at a Boston Volvo dealership was terrible despite that we had been loyal service customers for the past five years. We'll definitely make the trip to the suburbs from our home in Boston from now on when we need service. Finally, when I called a NH Volvo dealership to compare the price Tom quoted us, they flat out told us it couldn't be beat! Thanks HC and Tom! The Barber Family

Great car buying experience

I had been looking around for a new car for a few weeks. Buying a car can be a stressful process and I had been to a couple of dealerships that work with Audi, BMW, Subaru, VW, Mercedes and a few other Volvo dealers, but my experience with Volvo of Norwood was the BEST I have had. The staff are extremely nice and at no point I felt like walking away from the dealership. I was helped by Patricia Y., a very nice sales consultant who assisted me with every question and detail about the car. She duly noted down every thing I was looking in a car and then went about showing me the best available options. She explained what every trim offered and which trim would best fit my needs. There was no attempt to sell the priciest car in the lot, the pricing was not exaggerated and was within what I had expected. After deciding on the car, the paperwork was taken care of with no surprises/hidden fees. Working with Patricia Young made this process painless. Scott B. and Graham L. are probably the nicest managers I have worked with. They understand customer satisfaction and are willing to work with you to help you buy that car (again no pressure). So, if you are looking to buy a new car, consider a Volvo and give this dealership a try.They have a great team that is glad to work with you. You won't walk away disappointed. A proud owner of a 2014 S60 (T5-AWD).
