Bait and Switch

Bait and switch. I went through the Toyota website to buy a Toyota Rav4 Prime plug in s.u.v. and was directed to Dartmouth Toyota in Massachusetts. Amber the internet sales associate sent me a price on the car, "2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime SE - Stock# 14401 Your Price Promise Quote $41,219". Amber called me at 10:30am, said they had the car in stock as quoted in the email she sent me. i made an appointment at Toyota Dartmouth, MA. with Amber for 12:00 the same day, just 1-1/2 hour later to come in, see the car and test drive it. i got my 2 year old son ready, had to adjust his sleep schedule, my wife ready, my other son ready and myself ready to get to the dealership for our appointment. As told, i asked for Amber when i got there, she did not come to meet me, instead i was seated with Lisa, who i assume is a salesperson, but it was never told to me. Lisa clicked on the computer for a few minutes without speaking to me at all as i waited. she got up walked away for a couple minutes and came back. when she came back she said that car had already been sold and that we could not even test drive it; but she said she could show us a different car. i was in disbelief. they told me they had the car i wanted, and even gave me a price for it not even an hour and a half before i got there. i said so you just wasted two hours of my time then. Lisa said yes. no apologies, no explanations, nothing. i just got up and walked out in frustration. Do not buy a car from Toyota in Dartmouth Ma. they are dishonest and they lie. They bait and switch cars to potential buyers.

I'm in my mid-forties and have bought plenty of cars over the years, and I can say that my experience at Toyota of Dartmouth working with Joe Ferreira was by far the most outstanding experience I have ever had buying a car - he was honest, direct, helpful, knowledgeable, and insightful. Without pressure, he walked me through the different options for Toyota SUVs - he assessed our family's needs and what we were looking for in a car and helped us to choose the Highlander we ultimately chose. We have - actually - always bought our Toyotas at another dealership up near Boston, but after our experience with Joe Ferreira in Sales at Toyota of Dartmouth, as well as with Jim Cappalli in the finance department and with Tom Menchi in service, Toyota of Dartmouth is the dealership we will return to when we go to replace our Tacoma next year, and whenever we buy a car in the future.

Toyota of Dartmouth is a great dealership! The salespeople are great (Brad!) and the finance people are awesome (Jason!) and I couldn't have been happier with my experience there with them. They listened to what I had to say, didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want or need, they were kind and knowledgeable, and they helped me get into the brand new RAV4 I wanted! I had been afraid of being trampled at the door by sales-vampires who wanted to get me for all they could but that wasn't my experience at all and it made all the difference! I was TOTALLY prepared to turn around and walk back out of the dealership if that's what I encountered at the door but instead I got calm, relaxed salespeople who seemed like they only cared about helping me the best way they could. Thanks Brad, Jason and Toyota of Dartmouth!

An excellent car leasing experience. Every person I dealt with was top notch all the way. Hannah was lightening fast in responding to all of my internet questions. Leo was the single most patient and knowledgeable sales person I have every worked with. He went out of his way to answer all of my questions, and to make it his personal responsibility to see that I was well taken care of every step of the way. Jason was very professional in arranging the terms of my lease. All of you provided me with the most courteous and professional service I have ever received from a dealership. I am most grateful to you for your assistance and would not hesitate in the least to recommend your dealership wholeheartedly to any of my friends and family. Thank you once again.

Purchase of my 2014 RAV4

This was my first time buying a brand new car. I was kind of nervous and didn't know where to start. Ken was a HUGE help. While walking around looking at the cars, he didn't come over and pressure me. We actually approached him. I am not of fan of dealerships that surround you and put so much pressure on you. Ken was far from that. The first car he showed me, I knew it was the one. He was extremely knowledgeable and knew everything there was to know about that car and every other car there. He told me about other ones that they had, but I really wanted the 2014 RAV4. I told him I wanted to go home and talk about it with my dad. He didn't pressure me to stay and try to complete the deal that day. That night, he emailed me all of the information about the car I looked at that day. This way I could show my dad and talk about it with him I came back the following day and made it official. He worked it out with me and gave me the best deal on the car. I would highly recommend Ken to anyone who is looking to purchase a car or even has question about a certain car. He was very friendly and outgoing. He made my car buying fun and not stressful. He offered to stay late if I had to work late. He was very flexible and put his customers first. PLEASE ask for Ken when going to Toyota of Dartmouth. He will give you an awesome car buying experience!! You won't regret it!

Experience first started off a little rough, and the salesman was a little rough around the edges. However, he didn't pressure the sale. He also did very well with presenting the facts and giving straight answers. No frills, just straight answers. They were also understanding with answering questions. The financing and warranty portion was a bit slippery though. I felt the dealer could have handled that better.

went to Dartmouth Toyota to try out an 014 tundra. liked the truck so worked a good price for the vehicle. then went into c financial manager to do deal. he asked me three times if I wanted extended warranty and I said no three times. then he played with numbers so it sounded good so I bought it for 3000 dollars!then after I saw what a rip off it was I called to cancel it he wouldn't.

Visited several dealerships, I was impressed with Dartmouth Toyota. The internet price was honored as well as my trade-in asking price. Even though I had a change of heart on the model I requested a quote on, they still gave me a quote below TMV listed in Edmunds.com. I strongly recommend this dealership. No hassle or pressure sales experienced.

Honest and competitive pricing

I have been looking for a Certified Camry Hybrid and found one at Dartmouth Toyota. Sherry Barbosa and Joe Cabral of their internet sales department had the car at the price listed as promised. The sale took less than an hour including my test drive. I later discoverd that the car, though certified, was in need of an alignment. I lived far away, and without prior approval, had the work done at another Toyota dealership. They honored the work even though alignments were not covered since they took my word that it was a pre-existing condition. I was sent a check for my out of pocket expenses. How many dealerships selling at such a low price to a distant buyer would cover work done elsewhere? This dealership meets the gold standard. I will go out of my way to buy my next car there, and you should too.

My sister, brother-in-law, and I all bought our 2007 Toyotas at Toyota of Dartmouth. All communications was via email, and unlike most other dealerships, Toyota of Dartmouth included in their emails the exact price and features for the new vehicle each of us was interested in. No "bait and switch" to lure us into the dealership. What they wrote in the email was exactly what you got upon arrival in the showroom. Not sure how the dealership handles people who walk in without researching on the internet the vehicle(s) they want, but if you do your research, and then make first contact with this dealership via email, they already assume that you've done your research on the internet and know the costs associated with the vehicle, and thus they'll respond with an offer which in my case and my two family members' cases, was below MSRP. I'll never buy a Toyota from another dealer again. If I knew earlier that Edmunds.com rated dealers, I would have written this review earlier. Unfortunately, my 2007 Highlander was totaled in a car accident, so as happy as I was with it, and the experience with Toyota of Dartmouth when I purchased it last year, I now find myself having to buy a new car again - thus I'm using Edmunds.com once again to research vehicles, and that's how I "discovered" this section on reviewing dealerships.
