way to go

by earl on 11/14/2023

We met with Alex and during our introduction we realized that he was very capable of giving information on the car we were looking for. He described with detail the car and then showed us the car, answered many questions we had, always with interest in our response. We appreciated all the time Alex spent with us and would recommend him to anyone.

Easy to deal with sales staff.

by Charles on 01/10/2024

Of the three Toyota dealers in my area, Koons had the vehicle I wanted and the salesman was easy to work with. No last minute add on fees or pressure to add on things I didn't want. On the day of the sale I was in and out in a little over an hour.

Excellent Car Buying Experience

by Mark on 05/30/2023

I had a great experience with Koons and our salesman Scott. We had a difficult time finding a car that was available and he reached out to us that one had come in. When we got to the dealership we were concerned because it was out on a test drive, but luckily it came back and we were able to purchase it. The purchase went quicker and smoother than any other time I've bought a car. Scott was very helpful and not pushy at all. The car was a better price than we were expecting and a better price than what we had seen from other dealers in the area. They didn't try to mark it up or price gouge us. Even when we went to finance and dealt with Cecil, he was friendly and easy to work with. I would definitely buy a car from Koons again.

New ride

by Brian Alban on 04/27/2023

My Corolla is the third car I’ve purchased from Koons in Westminster. My salesperson (Maryann) was very knowledgeable and explained everything in great detail. The newer technology is slightly overwhelming at first but she was patient and we worked thru it. I would highly recommend Koons and Maryann to anybody looking to buy a new Toyota.

Satisfied my need

by John Snow on 02/23/2022

Was in needed for a new car in a wrong time, spoke to to 4 different dealerships all were wasted of time and felt very disrespectful attitude from sale manager soon as I want to talk about their mark up, I gave up on looking and was putting $$ to fix my sick car, somehow I made a call to koon Westminter Toyota and got connected to Jason Parodi who was introducing at internet sale person, I ask about the vehicle got the answer Jason give me 1st offer then I gave my offer and the whole deal was less than 15 mins not the greatest deal I ever had but being under shortage and all the craziness I am happy with how it’s turn out but most importantly Jason was super friendly and respectful in the process vs my experience from other Toyota dealer.

Heavy over pricing

by Garrett8092 on 03/19/2021

Dealership tried to sell me 2021 RAV 4 Prime with Premium package for $59,999. The sticker price on the vehicle was $49,294. I understand a markup of 2-5% due to availability but that is insulting. Big waste of time.

STAY AWAY FROM KOONS

by Daniel on 05/01/2020

We made the mistake of buying a used 2013 Nissan Rogue from Koons in late December 2019. Last week we discovered the air conditioning doesn't work and will cost over $900 to repair. Koons refuses to cover the repair. Both me and my wife are registered nurses. My wife works in infection prevention at an area nursing home and uses the care to get to and from work. We didn't use the air conditioner between now and when we bought it because it was, you know, winter. We made the mistake of trusting Koons that they had done a proper inspection prior to selling us the car. My wife has been insanely busy everyday trying to save the lives of her residents and prevent the spread of COVID-19. She started her job in January, right before the outbreak hit, and was very busy from her first day. This is one reason why we didn't have time to get the car looked at by our mechanic within the 30 day 1000 mile window. I explained this to the staff at Koons, but they did not care. Don't make the same mistake we did. Stay away from Koons Toyota and all Koons dealerships. They are dishonest and heartless and don't care at all about essential healthcare heroes like my wife.

Filter Hose not attached

by RKJ777 on 06/12/2015

I have been taking my Highlander to KoonsToyota Westminster for service. Last 3 out the 5 times they have left the hose on the back of the filter detached. This cause the Check engine light to come on few days later. Each time I had to take it back to clear the codes.

Outstanding sales experience!

by Ltis on 03/29/2014

Nathan V. did an outstanding job! This was our 4th Toyota dealership we had worked with trying to get the 2014 highlander and we had almost given up hope on buying a Toyota. Until working with Nathan we were unimpressed with the service we had received. He was honest, upfront and extremely efficient! He was also extremely thorough and detail oriented. He under promised and over delivered and made an frustrating process to date an extremely pleasant experience! I would recommend Nathan to any friend or family member in the market for a vehicle! Outstanding job Nathan!

Did not honor online offer on sale price and trade-in

by joebob2nd on 01/24/2012

Bypassing some other large Toyota dealers we made our way to Westminster Toyota with pre-negotiated amounts both for purchase and trade-in. Once we arrived and test driven selected vehicle, the sales manager came back with numbers that did not match just what we discussed in email day before. Sales manager while polite on email and online chat was very unhelpful in person, almost no eye-contact and rather dodging. He did not honor my trade-in agreement under pretense that he misunderstood the trade-in age (2 year old car agreed to sell at KBB price - match Carmax offer). His sale price was also $300 higher then what he agreed to sell at only a day before basically resulting in $800 increase over previous agreement. Very strange experience. Sales assistant/test drive guy was polite and very helpful, but the manager's disinterest, lack of engagement and gaming makes this a firm 2 star rating.

Great Experience!

by mcduv87 on 07/07/2011

Overall, this was the best car buying experience I've had so far. I initially contacted Koons through their website for an e-price quote. When I went to the dealership that evening, they were ready and waiting for me. Mary Ann McMorrow was my sales representative and we couldn't have been happier. She went over every feature of Highlander and was up front with all of the financial details. She answered all of my questions honestly and didn't give me any misleading information. The trade-in value given was a good deal too. The only complaint I had was dealing w/the financing office at the end -- even though I told them up front that I wasn't interested in any extended warranties or extended service plans, I was still bogged down w/all of these details and given a guilt trip when I opted against these -- "What if your wife breaks down with the kids and you're not available?" I was hoping to avoid questions like these when I started out by saying I didn't want any extended warranties or extended service plans, but I guess this is where this department makes their money. The financing office is the only reason this dealership didn't earn a 5-star rating from me.

Scion Buying and Service Experience

by scionservice on 02/18/2010

Warning, if you are going to buy a Toyota or Scion from Koons Toyota Scion of Westminster please check the vehicle closely for damage. I bought a brand new Scion at the dealership in September 2009. It had interior damage that I was not aware of before driving off the lot. They never disclosed the damage to me. I arrived home and spotted the damage in numerous places around the dash area. I reported it to my salesman the very next day. Not one person looked at the damage. They told me that they would take care of the damage. Needless to say it is still not fixed after ten trips and hundreds of miles put on the vehicle from returning back to the dealership. A Certified Toyota technician has to perform all repair work according to the auto maker or the warranty will be voided. The factory trained technicians at Koons Toyota Scion of Westminster are apparently incapable of completing the repair work. On my last visit they put 16 miles on the vehicle to fix scratches on the dash. According to one employee at the dealership, they sent my car out to be repaired since they were unable to do it themselves. I never gave permission for the car to be removed from the premises nor was I told that it would be taken elsewhere. That says a lot about the certified Toyota Technicians. Now, I have no idea who is doing the repairs on my vehicle and how it may affect my warranty. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. They do not stand by their word and will not work with you to get the problems corrected. I have been working with the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General Office, to try and get this matter resolved.

Multi-function Display: attempted $3400 rip-off

by prius_driver on 06/05/2009

2004 Prius had a TSB on the multi-function display (MFD), but Toyota only replaced it under warranty if the customer complained. Mine failed in 2008 after the 3 yr warranty was up, and Westminster Koons Toyota told me that the charge to replace it was $3462.00. I told the service rep.: "No, this is not a fair price, what about a reconditioned part?" He replied that there were none available. Car is nearly useless without the MFD, so I did some research and found out that MANY users had their MFD replaced with a reconditioned model for between $400 and $600, while others paid nothing for this repair of a manufacturing defect. One user even provided pictures of the exact failure of the circuit board, Toyota had trouble with their new lead-free soldering process in 2003 and 2004, and there was a bad solder joint. So my plan was to fix this myself if Toyota would not back up their cars. After many hours on the phone, the Koons Westminster Service manager said that he had indeed been able to locate an "exchange unit" for the MFD, and the total charge would be $600 (ended up as $706 with rental car). So Koons Westminster Toyota service department tried to rip me off for over $3,000- I imagine they would have thrown a party or something if I had paid the charge! I had also contacted Toyota National Customer Service in California, and a very competent and understanding lady there eventually sent me a check for the entire charge, in large part because of the extreme mistreatment I received from Koons Westminster, so the total cost was covered, although of course it took me at least 12 hours to research this and talk to many different people.

Inconsistent trade in value, very low price offered for Prius

by prius_driver on 06/05/2009

In July 2008 Koons Toyota Westminster offered $15,000 for my 2004 Prius, with a broken MFD. Car had 65,000 miles. The trade-in after the MFD was repaired would be $16,500- very close to the Edmunds TMV- trade in price listing of the value of this car at the time. In June 2009, Koon Toyota Westminster offered $7,000 trade-in for the same car, now with 77,000 miles. Edmunds lists the TMV trade in price as $12,900. Salesperson now says that "Edmunds prices are not accurate, and Kelley Blue Book shows $9,300 for this car." OK, Kelley Blue Book is essentially owned and supported by dealers, so why did they not offer $9,300? No real answer, many dealers now use the "Black Book" which is of course all set up for dealers to make a $5,000 profit on every traded in car. Saw a similar car offered for sale at another dealer for $13,989, a 2005 Prius with 93,400 miles. So the dealers believe in the Edmunds pricing when they are selling a car, but not when they are taking a trade in- what a biased system. So now I'm thinking that the retained value of these Toyota's is not so good if the dealers won't offer a trade in price within three thousand dollars of their sale price for the same car.

Not Impressed

by gradedadealer on 03/25/2009

Not all is what it seems at Koons Toyota Scion in the friendly community of Westminster. I had considered both new and used cars before settling on trying to buy new. The used car department seemed to want to push me into a vehicle which made me apprehensive. I wanted a certified Toyota, but I quickly realized that was an issue with the used car department as there wasn't enough profit for them to certifiy the vehicle. A short finance manager with an accent tried to convince me otherwise, while he was trying to upsell me on dealer products. His tactics seemed to benefit him moreso than me, the consumer. I went over to new cars to look at economy vehicles with the intention of reviewing numbers first. Along came a gruff in appearance, sales manager, whose lack of eye contact and hint of last night's spirits gave me reservations about doing business here at all. A blond haired gentleman with glasses and also an accent, came over to speak with me, which I appreciated, but his approach was more condescending then purposeful. I excused myself and left.
