Bait and Switch or Ambush Sales!

by Keystone59 on 05/22/2017

Recently purchased a RAV4 from Younger Toyota of Hagerstown, MD. We were in touch with the salesperson and we're trading in two used vehicles. We received a fair price for both vehicles, but who knows, our perception was based on a quick Kelly's Blue Book trade-in price. Next we negotiated the price of the vehicle and both of us were pleased, probably could have done a bit better, but we didn't have a dealers price print out, and we were ready to move on. While waiting and minutes before going in to sign the paperwork to make the deal final we were approached by the salesperson and the financial manager and informed they made a mistake and never added the Maryland State sales tax! We were not happy to say the least as the additional cost came close to $2,000. The finance manager made a small several dollar gesture and apologized and we agreed. We never reviewed the sales numbers as we were assured several times the Maryland State Sales Tax was already included and accounted for in the final price. Guess why the sales person didn't go over numbers with us. Our bad, buyer beware, but in terms of trust, DO NOT trust this place! GO over everything and negotiate them into the ground. I guess the old 70's style of gottcha sales tactics are back or never left Younger. Whatever happened to the new relationship sales style. My girlfriend works in Hagerstown and word of mouth is what we have to alert prospective car buyers about Younger. . .beware!

Do NOT buy from this dealer!!!

by expbuyer on 11/07/2016

This is one of Hagerstown worst dealers. I call them the magic 5!!!. I will give them 1 star because my salesman was polite. The reason they are the magic 5 is because I have attempted to stay local and purchase vehicles 3x over the last 12 years from this dealer and all 3x they are almost exactly 5k below what your trade is really worth!!! Each time I have traveled to a dealer down the road and have gotten exactly what my trade is worth according to kbb. Now 5k is a lot of money so well worth the travel. Younger will try and tell you they have to do stuff to your trade to get it ready to sell which cost them over a grand this is total crap!!! If they need to spend that much they will send your trade off to auction. The sales managers at Younger are total [non-permissible content removed]!!! or maybe its the dealers owner. Either way you will have a much better experience going down the road and you will get a lot more money for your trade and have a much better experience with your purchase. Basically some dealers are happy moving inventory and making 2 to 3k off a deal and others want to take everything you have and make 5 to 8k per deal, this is Younger's way of dealing its very un-professional and flat out wrong!!! So beware of this dealer, you have been warned. I'm not sure how they even stay in business except from taking advantage of customers that don't do their research or know how to look up their trade values from the resources of the internet.

Rude and unprofessional

by irritated4 on 01/09/2016

The Toyota people that we talked to did not treat us professionally. We thiught they were rude and did not take us serious. Promised us a specific date that the vehicle we purchased would be here and it arrived over a week late than what they told us. That really got under our skin, because during the paperwork, the dealer charged us $900 to get the vehicle to the Toyota dealership. Why should we pay $900 transfer fee to wait well over a week for it which ended up interfering with our work life and causing problems. We also signed a contract that said there would be under 10 miles on the vehicle when we got it which is was well over 10 miles. When we would call, we just kept getting pushed aside and sent to message machines. During paperwork, make sure you pay very close attention, because they will sneak charges on there that you aren't going to like. The sales manager was rude, and continued to try to push us to buy more stuff when we were already upset with the whole dealership. So annoyed by this place. Save your money and time. Go to another car place that will respect your choices and give you the courtesy to answer your calls, or at least call back within a decent time

Horrible Dealership

by nickpomi on 10/23/2015

1. I bought a truck from this dealership almost two months ago. They told me that they would be sending me the plates and registration. The truck currently has temp tags on it that expire in one week. I called today because I had not received the plates or registration. The person that I talked to said that they would be sending me the plates later this week, which will get to me in two weeks. Why the H*** did they not send it weeks ago? In a week I will be forced to drive a vehicle with expired tags, no plates, no registration, and no inspection because of their careless lack of respect for their customers. 2. The vehicle I purchased has had multiple issues since I purchased it.They sprayed undercoat on the entire frame to cover up an enormous amount of rust. The first day I had it, a mud flap fell off, and two light fixtures came out of their housings. One of the ball joints or rotors is now going. The reverse senor system is also broken. I did not look closely at the electrical system when I bought the truck which was a mistake. Someone had hacked up, spliced, and rerouted multiple wire, its a complete [non-permissible content removed]. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP! They are not honest. They have horrible customer service. They will lie and deceive you to make the sale.

Down hill

by howie16 on 04/24/2012

I've purchased over $54K worth of cars from this dealership over the last decade. When I returned I was greatly disappointed. The sale rep, Jeremy was great. He did all he could. Once it was turned over to Mark in finance it turned into a zoo. We found him to be very pushy and a bit insulting as well. When we offered a price he actually raised the original price they quoted us in reply. That's not negotiating, that's "my way or the highway" methodology. Not adviseable if you're trying to sell cars. Having been returning customers who have invested so much money there in the past we were extremely disappointed in Younger now. We ended up buying a Honda Pilot just up the road and that dealership was professional in every way.

DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR FROM THIS PLACE!!!!

by brian180 on 06/10/2011

When I write this review I am referring to the Used Car Toyota area of the dealership. DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. The people working at this place should be ashamed of themselves. They take advantage of people that do not know what they are doing. They have this laid back mentality of being in the country and not knowing certain things about vehicles and that slimy little sales tactic did not work on me. I was assisting my mother in law to purchase a car. When she showed me the car I challenged the salesman (Jim) that what we were looking at was not a Prius V. The window sticker insisted that it was a Prius V. I looked in the glove compartment after the test drive and it had the original MSRP sticker and original sales price of the the car, etc. Yes I was correct, it was not a Prius V it was actually a Prius IV. When I called our sales guy out on this he said "that is why there is a disclaimer at the bottom of the window sticker". Therefore they could not be held liable if they sold you a car that was misrepresented. Anyways, the car originally sold for $27,500 and they were trying to sell the car for $29,991. How is that possible? Probably b/c they didn't think anyone would call them out on it and catch on to them 'misrepresenting' vehicles and selling vehicles that may not even be the actual vehicle that you wanthey present to you. For a certified Toyota dealership, they didn't know anything about what they were selling. I told our salesguy the only way we were going buy this car is if the price came down substantially. Not only because of the whole misrepresentation of the vehicle but also b/c the sticker price showed options and features on the car that actually were not even included (which were represented in window sticker price). He said that he's not budging eventhough I showed him the original sales price and the original MSRP for the vehicle. I then asked how much they were going to give my mother in law for her trade in and he said that "that was never discussed". Therefore we had to go inside to look at numbers. So our salesguy comes back and shows us a total price trade in and all at $29,653. My mother in law told them on the phone that she wanted to pay $26k out the door. Jim even agreed that that is what she said over the phone. Jim kept saying that he can get us to this price but the fact of the matter was that they still were not budging on the price of the car that they misrepresented and were not even willing to negotiate to get my mother in law down to $26k. Not only was this my mother in law's second time at the dealership to look at the vehicle, but they knew what they could do and what they could not. This was a total waste of my time. Then when Jim came back to give us the news that a deal was not going to happen tonight he did not even sit down, and he said "well it looks like we're not going to be able to make a deal" and then he just walked away. He simply just walked away and that was it; so we just got up and left. Jim did not even have the courtesy to say "I'm sorry for the car being misrepresented" or "I'm sorry we could not strike a deal". He simply just walked away. LET ME REITERATE, DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE AND HAVE NO COMMON COURTESY. THEY PLAY THIS NICE GUY WHEN THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING. THEY ARE NOT ONLY IN THE BUSINESS OF SELLING CARS BUT ALSO TAKING ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE. If you want to contact me about my experience you are more than welcome to. Sloppy Sales and Service

by sherb2000 on 08/30/2009

This place puts me in mind of the days way before no haggle dealerships. Lots of slick talk and missed opportunities. I was given a sales pitch on how great the customer service is at this dealership. They didn't even greet me when I came in the door. Then when negotiating, they brought the MSRP to the table, though I had been given the internet based price. The woman who does the internet thing is pretty cool. The dealership is pretty, nice popcorn, icee machine, and the free oil changes might be perks, but they let me go saying they couldn't help me because of the value of my trade. Within a week I went immediately to a dealer about 1.5 hours away and got the same price and 1500 more on the trade. I was not impressed by any of the sales people.

Excellent customer service at Younger Toyota

by cando on 07/11/2009

These folks go above and beyond what other dealers do. In searching for a 2010 Prius, Eddie Howlett was fantastic. He was courteous, honest (yeah, an honest car salesman) and resourceful. What a breath of fresh air. He was very responsive and quite eloquent but to the point. I highly recommend him.
