Great Experience

by Denim_Blue on 03/20/2018

My wife and I just purchased a 2018 Volvo XC90. Our experience with Annapolis Volvo has been excellent. Our sales process began when I dropped in to look at a 2017 Model that was advertised at an attractive discount. Jack Poteet greeted me and I was immediately struck by his sincere and modest demeanor. He informed me that the 2017 had just been sold the night before, but would be happy to see if he could help me with finding an alternative. I immediately went to the dar side thinking that maybe the 2017 that I came to see never existed but later met the couple who purchased the 2017. They were there to take delivery from Jack. Yes, I witnessed them drive off with the car. As the remaining selection of 2017's did not appeal to me Jack did show me some nicely appointed XC90's and there was a Denim Blue XC90 Inscription that caught my eye. I resisted taking the plunge until I did some additional research. I dropped in on the dealership again several days later with the big guns (my wife) determined to buy the Denim Blue XC90 if we could make a deal. Jack was busy with a customer so Bobby Johnson offered to fill in for Jack. Bobby has a very easy going but vibrant personality and possess an excellent knowledge of the Volvo line. The switch to a different salesman was at first uncomfortable, but Jack and Bobby worked seamlessly as team thereby removing our concerns. Long story short we negotiated our best offer, met the Sales Manager Mike Mayfield who was very professional and personable, cut the deal and left that day happy with our Denim Blue Volvo.

Worst Experience Ever

by kzbyers on 12/15/2016

I have never had such shoddy treatment or experience with a named dealership in my life! We purchased 2007 Dodge Nitro 10/04 from Annapolis Volvo. Contacted the dealer on 10/05 with a list of mechanical and electrical concerns. The dealership was informed within 24 hours of purchase of our initial concerns, with almost daily communication about the truck up to the present. Had for 6 days. We returned it to the dealer on 10/11 with the list of issues. Our initial List: Activating the blinker to the right, it catches for a fraction of a second/then drops to a left blinker. Dangerous - driver has to focus on holding the blinker / if it drops to the left it is confusing/potentially dangerous for other drivers. NOT FIXED Owe us a 4th key for mis-cut key. NOT CORRECTED Exhaust leak. NOT FIXED Tail light cracked/condensation/Brake light out. FIXED. Shifter occasionally stuck in "park" - turned off and on to correct. NOT FIXED Interior lights go on/off randomly. DEALER JERRY RIG FIXED ON REPAIR ORDER. NOT FIXED PROPERLY Truck stalled several times. NOT FIXED Alignment. NOT FIXED Caliper/brakes. NOT FIXED. From drive to reverse, shift selector or solenoid issue. Louder when driven. NOT FIXED. A/C clutch erratic / grinding/bearing noise. NOT FIXED Left front CV noise turning right/louder in 4WD. NOT FIXED (turns out it was the right one not the left) Transmission bangs/mount/bottom end knock. NOT FIXED. We received back from the dealer on 10/17. Had for 4 days. We returned it to the dealer again on 10/21 with many of the same issues still unresolved. Nail in brand new rear tire was replaced with different tire. FIXED. Caliper/brakes. FIXED. (although will need to be redone again due to rust from sitting again). Engine Codes - U110C, U0141, U1403, U110E. NOT FIXED We Found: U110C (lost Fuel Level Message) - it means there's an issue with wiring U0141 (Lost Communication With Body Control Module "A") - Specifics - https://www.obd-codes.com/u0141 U1403 (implausible Fuel Level Signal Received) - Means - CAN BE OPEN OR SHORTED/CLUSTER MODULE/FRONT CONTROL MODULE/PCM U110E (lost Ambient Temperature Message) - A/C issue Dealer found (yet stated no problem found): U110C (lost Fuel Level Message) - it means there's an issue with wiring U110E (U110E (lost Ambient Temperature Message) - A/C issue U1113 (lost A/c Pressure Message) We received it back from the dealer on 10/28. Had it for 12 more days. On the morning of 11/09 starter ran 30+ seconds to a minute. Later that same day it completely quit running today, won't start or jump-start. Stuck in "park". Truck died and stuck in park had it towed home. Dealer refused to do anything at first until 12/01 when they had the truck towed by Volvo to Adams Dodge Annapolis as an independent 3rd party to look at the issues we had pointed out since day 2 plus the fact that the truck is now dead. On 12/06 we had our first contact from Adams Dodge where Volvo had the car towed to have the issues looked at. Adams Dodge independently found all of the issues that we had been pointing out since day 2. One of the issues they found, a defective battery, more than likely explains all of the electrical issues the truck has been having since day 2. Today, 12/14, Volvo has stated, that they would replace the battery, but, anything else, despite emails going all of the way back to 10/05, the day after purchase, is an attempt on our part to make the truck "perfect" and they would not be responsible for that. So now here we sit and out of 71 days of ownership the Dodge Nitro has been drive-able for 22 non-consecutive days. We have owned it for 71 days, in dealer's possession 13 days (27 counting its time at Adams Dodge) and totally non-functional for 36 days (of which it has been at Adams Dodge for 14 days now).

Excellent Experience!

by Annapolisfam on 03/06/2016

We had great service from Chris Mehrer. He was patient and knowledgeable. We purchased a fabulous car for an excellent price. The service was professional and they beat every dealer in the mid-Atlantic on our trade-in and the price of the new car. Our overall experience was excellent!

Excellent experience of buying a car

by Jennifer_Cole on 07/23/2015

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience yesterday at Annapolis Volvo. Anthony and Butch were so patient and helped us find our very first Volvo. We are thrilled with the car that we got an incredible deal on. For me, the experience of purchasing a luxury car in my price range was better then I could have imagined. I am thrilled to have a great 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Before I made the purchase I looked around and no one could come near the great warranty or the amazing price. On the way home from the dealership my husband said to me "we are going to be a Volvo family." I can't wait to get our next Volvo!! Thank you Anthony and Butch for being so great!

Issues with Sales, Service and Parts Departments

by jeffm007123 on 01/03/2015

In the last 3 months, I've had bad experience in Sales, Service, and Parts at Annapolis Volvo. I recommend Herb Gordon Volvo in Silver Spring or Don Beyer in Falls Church as alternatives. Sales: My wife and I were ready to replace our 2004 XC70 (220K miles) and got what we thought was a good deal with the sales person. But when we were transferred to the business person, turned out he made a "mistake" and the price was $2K higher than we negotiated with the sales person. He said he'd make it right, but turns out that meant we were still going to have to pay $1K more than the initial offer. That's not "making it right" in my book. So we walked out the door and bought our new Volvo from another dealership. Service: We got a flat tire in the new car two weeks after purchase and went in to get it replaced. They said my car model was "too new" and they don't have that tire in stock yet. Drove 25 minutes to another dealership and got the tire replaced in an hour. Parts: Ordered a roof rack for the new car. When it arrived a few days later I tried to put it on the car, but it didn't fit - it's the wrong size. When I took it back, the parts guy said whoever ordered it put in the wrong numbers. He said the style I wanted is not available for my car and I have to get a different model that's not what I really want. Management apologizes for the mistakes, but nothing changes. Only reason I go there is because it's close to my house.

Great Job

by busterbrown3 on 09/26/2014

Bought a Certified XC60 after looking around online. Had the best selection of Certified cars but they sold out quickly when I would call on them. Everyone was friendly and eager to help me even if I wasn't their customer. Definitely a place to buy a Volvo. Thanks guys- Dr Brown

Not so good

by Sjstffrd0505 on 06/22/2014

I am about an hour and a half from this dealership. Contacted this dealership several weeks ago about a particular car listed online. They responded and car didn't have an option I wanted. I responded, fully describing the car I wanted and saying if one came on lot let me know. They responded great. Few days ago, car I wanted listed at site. Yesterday asked if still on lot. Response was yes. At 3:00 emailed saying on way to look at car. Arrived only find car was being sold and informed the deal was 4 hours in (should say something there that it takes 4 hours to do deal). Left a very bad taste for me that dealership didn't have courtesy to left me know at 3:00 that they were 3 hours into a deal with someone else (given how far I was driving). They were "happy" though to show me 2 other cars on the lot. Further they let me know the car being sold had been there for three weeks. So much for letting me know about a car when it arrived. With this sort of treatment can only imagine the joy if the "full" sales experience.

They don't care "Beware"

by bill_brac on 12/16/2011

I contacted this dealership and even had email correspondence with them. They told me they would return my call in 30 min. with a price, but it never happened. I called them several times over the next few days, and still no call back. I even wrote the sales manager, and he never responded. Perhaps they have better things to do than sell cars!

Poor Titling Practices Result in Increased Fees

by dissatisfied9 on 06/08/2011

Volvo Annapolis provides customers purchasing a used vehicle with a 60 day temp tag in order to complete titling out of state. This is fortunate since it takes their Titling section 30! days to provide the customer with the documentation. By that time however, the purchaser is then obliged to pay increased fees to the titling state.

Support Personnel Dont Support Sales Personnel

by dissatisfied9 on 05/25/2011

While the sales personnel are pleasant, the support trail is lamentable. Unfortunately, once the customer has parted with the cash, all further work on the purchase ceases. Finance and titling are unacceptably slow in processing paperwork. It is unfortunate that the sales personnel, who leave a pleasant impression, are then betrayed by the ineptness and delays in the personnel who complete the sale, leaving the buyer with an unpleasant taste in his/her mouth.

This was one of my most enjoyable experiences in purchasing a new car and we have purchased many over the years. My wife and I purchased a new XC90 R-Design. We asked for an online quote and received a very good price comparing it to the TMV on Edmunds compared to what others were paying. After further negotiations we end up with an even better deal, which cemented our decision to buy from Annapolis Volvo! Dealers in my area couldn't even come close to matching the price even after including the airfare and gas/tolls to fly down and get it home. Every detail was clearly explained prior to our arrival, as this was an out of state purchase of over 400 miles away.We were in and out of the dealership in a little over two hours after signing all the paper work and making the proper arrangements with our insurance agency. Kae, our sales associate, was extremely knowledgeable of the vehicle and was well prepared, which got us in and out very quickly. I would highly recommend Annapolis Volvo if you are considering purchasing a new Volvo. Thank you Annapolis Volvo!

First-Rate Experience

by ghbiii on 09/03/2010

After canvasing every Volvo dealer in the greater DC area to locate a 2010 SX70. Each dealer responded ranging from helpful to annoying. My wife and I visited the dealer in DC from whom we had purchased two Volvos and were greatly disappointed in the salesman's approach and his final offer. In the meantime I received a call from Kae Engel a saleswoman at Annapolis Volvo. She was knowledgeable and had an especially helpful manner. I made an appointment to meet her and drove to Annapolis. Within an hour we came to agreement I had purchased the car. Kae Engle is the most professional and helpful auto salesperson I have encountered in over 40 years of purchasing cars - foreign and domestic.

USED Dealers at this dealership are scammers - BEWARE.

by davegolden99 on 10/01/2009

While I cannot prove this was a bait-and-switch (and still is), I suspect it is: I saw a 2010 Toyota Prius IV listed for about $23,000 - which is a STEAL. It had been online for about a week, which was strange because this car would sell VERY quickly for that price. red flag #1. I called the dealer as soon as I saw it listed and he said I should come in as soon as possible. He wouldn't even let me ask questions. red flag #2. It's as if he was in a hurry or had more important things to do. He also said it would be hard to find a dealer that gives me what CarMax offers for my trade-in. That is so far from the truth - I have e-mails from dealers that will beat CarMax offers by $300-$500. So anyway - after feeling a bit uncomfortable with this used car dealer, I figured I would e-mail him my questions. His response to my e-mail did not answer any questions and said to come into the dealership. continuation of red flag #2. I e-mailed him back and just said, "Please do not contact me again. I would like to withdraw all interest in this vehicle." IMMEDIATELY I received a call back from the manager (he left a voice mail) indicating he wanted to help me. He e-mailed me asking why I lost interest. I explained in a quite nasty e-mail that I understand how used car dealers operate after reading various threads on how to negotiate with them. He responded, assuring me the car was never in an accident, nothing was wrong with it, and he would answer any questions I had. I e-mailed him back and apologized. I told him I wanted to come in that night and see the car. He said that it was not a good night to come in because he had 5 deliveries to make.(red flag #3...?) I got home and my wife wanted to at least go see the car - so I e-mailed him and he immediately responded that the car was purchased and it's gone now. (red flag #4) It appears to me this is some type of scam. With so many red flags, something is going on here.

Engineer II/Library Technologist

by j0breth on 05/02/2008

I had been talking with my sales associate for almost one year regarding purchasing the Volvo C70 after going into the dealership for just a test drive to see if I really would like the car. He kept in touch about once every two to three months just to see how I was doing and if I had the time he let me know what incentives they currently had and what was available in their inventory. I was waiting until I got closer to the end of my lease. The sales associate is very conscientious, courteous, and definitely pays attention to what his customer desires. He had made notes from each one of our conversations and my two meetings with him prior to my purchase. Because we had conversed over the period of a year, I felt he was a friend as well as my sales person. At no time did he ever pressure me to make this purchase. When he called in April, it was just to chat but I told him I was ready to do a deal. They didn't have a car in stock which matched my desires (i.e., wanted a black interior with black leather seats) but obtained one within two days and when his General Sales Manager called to tell me they had found a car for me, they also gave me the figures on the car. I told them it was definitely a deal and would be in the next day to finalize everything. The car was ready to go when I arrived at the dealership. The sales associate insisted I give it a test drive just to be sure I really liked this car as well as he took the time to teach me about the operation of this car. This is my first Volvo. Everyone was so right on top of everything during the whole process and so courteous and friendly. Caring about the customer (customer engagement) and customer service is definitely a number one priority at this dealership. Even with the test/teaching drive, I was out of the dealership and in my new C70 in one hour. I definitely recommend Annapolis Volvo to anyone looking to purchase a Volvo vehicle. They make it a very enjoyable experience.
