If I could give a rating of less than one star I would. Be careful if you go here, they are dishonest. I was shown an amount I would be borrowing as a loan and confirmed that it was the total amount i was borrowing multiple times with the finance manager, Cliff, then signed papers for another amount. I thought this was the amount the dealership was getting including my loan, trade in and down payment. But turns out, when Cliff showed me the total amount I would be taking out on the screen he hadn't added in some fees and taxes yet. So, it was not the total amount I was borrowing. I was Tricked into signing papers and borrowing more than I was Comfortable with and than he told me I would be borrowing. When I called to resolve this, I was Not offered an appropriate resolution and was told it was my misunderstanding alone and I could Either drop the warranty or insurance or return the car. Loosing services that I was told I was getting for a lower price is an unsatisfactory option considering I was tricked with their sneaky tactics. If I were you I would go somewhere else. Don’t make the same mistake I did, get tricked by the dishonest staff at Berlin City Auto Group.

I have leased two vehicles from Berlin City Toyota from Steve Lawrence and both experiences were great. He was very knowledgeable and answered EVERY question I had...and I had A LOT. He was very patient and made the whole process very effortless. I have recommended Steve and Berlin City to all my friends and family!! My Dad and Stepmother even went in and saw Steve and leased a brand new RAV4 and corolla. The whole Sales team at Berlin City was great :)

My husband and I were in the Berlin city Toyota this past weekend, and where I typically try to stay positive and never leave a bad review, we feel this was an exception. We had a wonderful experience from the minute we walked in the door all the way until the finance door. We had already gone over everything with our salesman on what our monthly payment had to stay at and he was extremely understanding and made it work for us no questions asked. As soon as we walked into the room for the financial part, we were immediately told “I give you a great deal,” and all the paperwork was already laid out for me to sign. He started saying how he got me an extremely low rate and an amazing warranty that would include “EVERYTHING,” and then he said it will only cost you .97 a day, and bring your payments to .. but I got you a low interest rate with .... (credit union.) My husband and I started looking at each other because we had already gone up $25 for the monthly payment from our previous vehicle and another $30 a month was over what we discussed. When we tried to ask questions about what he meant by everything he would say “bumper to bumper. We responded and asked what that means though ? He said A/C, electronics, EVERYTHING. Again we were confused and said so brakes ? He said well brake lines, A/C electronics stuff like that, EVERYTHING ITS AN AMAZING DEAL AND REALLY COSTING YOU NOTHING so just sign here. When my husband and I tried to talk about if we could afford to pay an extra $30 a month he would talk over us and say we were crazy if we didn’t take it making it extremely hard to figure out together and laugh that we were even considering not taking it. He kept using numbers of average cost etc. We tried to ask more questions, but he would cut us off and say that the average maintaince is $199 an hour and this would cover that easily. But again we were left feeling like we didn’t understand what it covered and didn’t cover. After this go around of us trying to ask and getting a extremely vague answer. We said no thank you, which he said that we were crazy for not taking it and laughed. He then said “well I got you a lower interest rate with this Credit Union for taking dent insurance it will only effect your monthly payment by $1.00.” So again, we asked what it included and he told us all dents would be taken care of. We just left it because he had already put it in the paperwork and was being extremely pushy, and at this point I had no idea who I financed through or my interest rate because he flew through everything. I completely understood what people mean by they didn’t know what they were signing. When I was signing the final paperwork I noticed a $500 increase to the final amount I was financing. I asked him about it and he tried to tell me that I was wrong and that the quote I had must have not had taxes (which it did.) The one our salesman showed us was the final amount he would be financing, hence the point of finding what our monthly payments would be. My husband and I were so confused and tried to ask him again but he just kept saying he got us a lower rate for taking the dent coverage. As we were leaving, Tucker came and got us walked us out, where John from Lexus came out with us too to say congratulations! He saw our puzzled faces and said he would explain the paperwork to us more so we felt comfortable leaving. Moral of this extremely long review is it really stinks that one person can ruin it for the whole team because the customer service that we got from the minute we walked into the door to This specific financial managers door was above and beyond!! I’ve been in many many dealerships and have had okay experiences, and some worse ones, and I’ve never felt the need to leave a review. The gentlemen at Lexus made an amazing point that “besides buying a house, a car is the second biggest purchase you will probably ever make. It’s important to make sure you are getting the BEST customer service possible! I hope that this review is taken seriously because I would hate for anyone to not want to go to Berlin City because of financial end, when everything else was amazing.

We started over at Lexus but because my husband and I were looking at certified Toyota’s we had to go through the Toyota dealership. The amazing gentlemen that helped us at Lexus knew how important buying the right car was to us so he went over himself and grabbed someone he said he knew would do right by us. Which brings us to Tucker, I had gone in with 8 cars in mind. I knew what I wanted my monthly payment to be but wasn’t exactly sure what that put me in for price range. Tucker immediately was up front and honest and told us which ones after taxes etc would be to much. Instead of like most prior experiences where they try to just show you the car anyways (hope you fall in love) and say well it’s only $50 more a month and hope you take it. He didn’t do any of this, he genuinely seemed to care about finding the RIGHT car for us, staying in our price range, and making sure we were 100% happy. Even after he handed us off to the finance manager he still made sure to bring us out to the car, ask if we had any additional questions, he wasn’t a “salesman” he was a friendly gentlemen that didn’t pressure us into anything and even worked with prices. We give him a 10! And we will recommend him to anyone we know.

First off, let me say that we love our new 2014 4Runner! This is our third Toyota vehicle purchase and this one's the best yet. My husband and I are at that age where you could say that we have "driven around the block a few times." Compared to previous vehicle purchasing experiences, Berlin City of Portland was great! Our sales associate, Tim, was very pleasant and we did not feel pressured by him in any way as we have in the past with other dealerships. The whole purchasing experience was actually quite pleasant, as it should be; we were buying a new vehicle! Some dealerships can quickly take the excitement out of purchasing a new vehicle. Not Berlin City. Tim was very knowledgeable about the vehicle we were interested in and very patiently explained all the bells and whistles that were new to us. He moved the purchasing process along very smoothly and we were in and out with our new 4Runner within four hours. The finance department "encouraged" us to purchase a few extras, some of which we did finally agree would be to our benefit. My advice would be, do your homework before you step into any dealership. Know exactly what you want, what you don't want and what you should expect to pay for the vehicle you are interested in. The folks at Berlin City will take care of everything else for you, with first class service!

First part of purchase concerning the new car price and discount went fine. The trade in value part took way too long and in the process I was subjected to terrible misinformation. In the closing process, the finance guy tried to slip an insurance offer by me. The ethical bar at this shop is set at a very low level.

I have had some terrible experiences at dealerships. Unfortunately, women are not always treated very well, and are ignored or treated as though they care about the color of a vehicle and other nonsense. Berlin took me seriously, and treated me with respect. They were professionals, and knew their stuff. I felt like they listened to what I was looking for and then presented me with appropriate options. They weren't trying to sell me a car- they were helping me buy one! Not only was the salesperson Tim great, but I was really impressed with Cliff in financing. He took the time to understand my financing needs, and got me a great extended warranty, which hadn't occurred to me but which he rightly identified as something I should consider b/c I was buying a car for commuting. He was smart, knowledgeable, and I felt that he got me a great deal. I would strongly recommend anyone looking for a car to give them a try!

Recently my 2008 Prius needed some work - these bumpy Maine roads had taken a toll on my wheel bearings. While my car was being serviced one of the salesmen, Mike, came over to chat and I asked how much it would cost me to trade my 08 for a newer Prius. Steve at the rest of the sales team at Berlin City Toyota were undoubtedly the best car sales team I have ever worked with. This was a very stressful experience for me and Steve easily ameliorated my worries and didn't make me feel like a crazy person for being so distressed. He and manager made me feel like they were there to support me and work for me rather than against me. I had not had a car payment in almost five years and was apprehensive about the financial commitment. During the signing of the financial paperwork, unquestionably the most laborious part of the car purchase, the team member completing my financial paperwork as well as Steve's manager noticed my trepidation and immediately consoled me and eased my trepidation. I truly appreciate the kindness and patience Steve and the rest of the team demonstrated to me. They made me feel heard, understood and validated; experiences not expected during the car purchasing experience.

My husband and I had a great experience shopping for a vehicle at Berlin City Toyota. We had been shooting all day at multiple dealerships looking for a new vehicle. We had Tim assist us from the moment we walked through the door. Although the dealership was extremely busy the day we were there, we got excellent treatment, Tim Brown was very helpful, professional and personable, but NOT pushy. We ended up purchasing our vehicle that same day, so we also met with Jim in the business office and he also was friendly, professional and helpful. We had a great experience here and would not hesitate to tell our friends and family. We would come back to Berlin City Toyota to purchase another vehicle without hesitation.

My wife and I recently bought a new Toyota Highlander from Berlin City, and I have to say it was the easiest buying experience we've ever had. The sales staff was friendly and low pressure. They had a reasonable pre-discounted price and we were able to agree on a final price that I was very happy with. At no time did they use a hard sell to try to get us to buy additional options. I'm very happy with Berlin City and will recommend them to friends and family.
