skid plate came loose

I had my oil changed a week before a trip. When I returned from my trip, which was driven solely on interstate and local highways, I found that the skid plate was hanging down. I took it to the closest Ford dealer ( not the one I usually use) and they couldn't get the screws to work so they zip-tied it. I was told the screws were plastic, not metal as in the "old days." Seems to me they should probably go back to metal!

Overall very good, have your mechanics wipe off areas they places Thier dirty hands. The top of the fenders had oily handprints
