Call Ahead of Appointment

We had an appointment to fix a recall part and when we arrived they were out of our part, they found one and it was fixed three hours later and saved us from coming back, which was appreciated. The part that needs corrected is that if we had an appointment, a part should have been saved for us, I think people who stopped in without an appointment drained the parts. We drove 50 minutes and luckily it worked out. I would think the dealership would be checking upcoming appointments to see if parts were going to come up short, if they were we should have been contacted. It worked out that they called around and luckily found one that same day, but easily could have been a second trip for us ( 50) miles.
