Mostly a good experience, w/ a glitch

I saw a car online at this dealership, a 2008 Ford Escape, with a really good price so I went to look at it. When I got there, I told the salesman what I saw and he took me right to the car. After a little chatting, we went on a test drive. I loved it and ended up buying it. I also purchased the extended warranty for this vehicle - the one that said if I returned to this dealership for work, there would be a $0 deductible, $100 anywhere else. When I did return for some work about 7 months later, I was charged a $100 deductible. When I explained the situation, I was told I had to pay it, then call and speak with the finance guy to straighten it out (because the finance guy wasn't in that day). So I did that, reluctantly. When I did finally speak to the guy and explain the problem (it took many attempts via phone and promised return emails that never happened) he told me that it would take 60 days to get the $100 that I had paid refunded. So that meant I had to wait until mid December of this year (2011). AND(!!) I was the one who had to call back and chase the money down. This just doesn't seem like the best customer service to me somehow. Their mistake, their delay, my work. Doesn't translate well for me, I'm afraid. But I did it - today. And, surprise, the finance guy wasn't available and will call me back. But, I was told, if I don't hear back from him today, call back tomorrow, but before 1 PM because they close early for the holidays. So, more effort for me to cover their mistake. I have put this in on the customer satisfaction survey that I did for Ford but no results came from that. Overall, I'm happy with the vehicle. I'm not especially impressed with the finance department at this dealership though. It kind of feels like they think they're doing me a favor by allowing me to do business with them. Not a great way to get return business or referrals. If the salesman I worked with wasn't as great a guy as he was, I would have checked no on the question asking would I recommend this dealership to friends and family. So, now I wait and see how much longer until I get my $100 back. And how much effort and frustration will be involved. Who wants to bet it won't happen before the new year?
