Rude. Rude. Rude.

by DanielPaul on 09/15/2014

Sales Manager was rude and arrogant. He acted as if I should be begging him to sell me a car, when I could just go a mile in any direction to buy from another dealer. While they went out to my vehicle to "check the VIN" someone noticed the keys that were left in the cup-holder, and decided to literally STEAL my vehicle and take it for a joy ride. I understand that it is common to give a vehicle a test drive during the appraisal process, but not one person ever asked me for my keys or permission to drive the vehicle. I'm not sure if these bully-tactics have worked well for them in the past, but I have purchased many vehicles in my life, and I have never been treated this poorly... they have ZERO people skills. I would rather walk to work every day than purchase a car from Auffenberg Hyundai.

Terrible Customer Service and Management

by lukerankin on 07/26/2014

I had an appointment to look at a vehicle at 9am on a Saturday morning. The night before I contacted the salesman right at closing to make sure that the vehicle was still for sale because I was traveling 2 hours away to look at the vehicle and didn't want to travel the distance and arrive with the vehicle sold. The Salesman informed me that the vehicle was for sale and that everything was good to go. I then received a phone call from the secretary to make sure that I was going to make it to the appointment the next morning to which I said that I would be there. The next morning on my way to the dealer I received a call after I had travelled for two hours asking if I was on my way to the dealer. I replied that I was 10 minutes away and the salesmen then told me that they had sold the vehicle the night before. I then asked why they had failed to inform me about this to which his reply was that he had not worked that day so he didn't know. After the salesman seemed very unapologetic, I told him that I was going to speak with his manager to which he replied, "You do that". I went to the dealer and asked to speak with a manager. The manager was currently in a meeting so I waited and after 5 minutes all of the salesmen had a meeting together in an office. I continued to wait for 15 minutes to speak with the manager. After the salesman and managers had a meeting I asked someone else again to speak with a manager as they were avoiding speaking to me. Finally the manager came and spoke with me (He didn't tell me his name). I politely told him my situation and my frustration with the fact that they did not let me know that they had sold the vehicle. The manager informed me that he didn't know that I had an appointment to see the vehicle as his salesman just told him this morning that I had an appointment. I told him that it seemed like this was a communication issue and that it reflects poor customer service. He then began to walk away and told me "I don'’t need to be told how to run my business!" As the manager was walking away he pointed and said, "“There'’s the door!" I simply wanted to hear "I'’m Sorry, How can I earn your business?" and I got a "There's the door". I have NEVER experienced such poor customer service and Management!

THE WORST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER

by aktiger on 11/27/2013

If I could give this dealership zero stars, I would. We had a new and inexperienced salesman, Dan W. The fact that he was new did not bother me, I know he was learning the ropes. He had a difficult time with the negotiation and explaining where all these costs were coming from. After over an hour of negotiations, and getting nowhere, the sales manager came (I forgot his name) came over and rudely barked at us what he would offer us. He even at one point told Dan to "be quiet" when he tried to help explain. I couldn't believe how rude and disrespectful this manager was to not only a customer but also his own employee right in front of a customer! We were then told be three different employees that when we are sent a survey, we need to give our sale man "all 10s" on the 1 to 10 scale because it hurts the salesman and the dealership. I'm sorry, don't tell me how to take a survey. Lastly, we were told by Dan that the car we purchased had an autostart in the car that could be accessed via blue link. Recently we went to use this feature as the temps are dropping and found out that our model does not have an auto start. When I went back to Dan to tell him this, he told me I would have to pay to have it installed now!!! The autostart was one reason why we bought this car, we even specifically asked about it when we were on the lot choosing a vehicle. He admits that he did not know (because he is new) but is now unwilling to correct his mistake. I am trying to talk to someone else up higher on the chain, but I expect no help from the terrible sales manager that we had to talk to when we bought the car. I am so incredibly disappointed with my experience at this dealership, I will NEVER go to another Auffenberg dealer again!!

Hidden Fees and a Long Wait

by ben130 on 10/11/2013

I found a vehicle that I wanted to buy via an external website's search engine. This vehicle happened to be located on an Auffenberg car lot. I went to the dealer with my trade (title in hand) and my checkbook to buy the vehicle. During the negotiation I made an offer, I received a counter offer, I accepted that offer in writing, I moved my stuff from my trade to the vehicle I had under contract, and then I was hit with a large hidden fee. The salesman told me that it was something that he had forgotten to add in and asked me to sign for the new higher price. Only 30 minutes earlier the salesman had told me that the counter offer price was from the sales manager so I was confused as to how this could be his mistake. I loudly told the salesman that this was a purchase greater than $500, that such a purchase required a written agreement, that we had just signed that legal agreement, and that I could technically call the Sheriff's Dept. to have it enforced (not commonly done, but the issue does fall under the county magistrate). The issue went away. All in all I spent the course of two afternoons and 5 hours at the dealership; 4 hours were spent sitting in an old building with limited amenities (two water fountains, old office chairs, and a bathroom) and nothing to do but watch traffic drive by. The script that I heard during actual negotiations was the same script I heard from Auffenberg Mazda 5 days earlier and from Auffenberg Nissan 2 weeks earlier. The salesman had just gotten further along through it the third time when I finally bought a vehicle. This tells me that the insidious last minute price bump sales team tactic probably is part of Auffenburg's sales team training program. If all things are equal, I do not recommend buying a vehicle from Auffenburg based on an advertised price. The Auffenberg lot that I went to advertises 'true car'/'one price' type pricing. That price is only there to get a customer on the lot and should not be trusted at face value. I like the vehicle that I bought and it's not its fault that it just so happened to be on an Auffenberg lot. If its twin existed on a competitor's lot, I would have left to go buy it (not really feasible since the dealership held the keys to my trade hostage during my second extended stay at the dealership). I don't plan on ever stepping foot on an Auffenberg dealership again since the vehicle I bought was an older low mileage model without warranty... there's was no commitment beyond a full tank of gas after the sale.

Be aware, no the best deal... and check your dip stick

by stirrupm on 04/21/2012

We recently visited Auffenberg to see about purchasing a new vehicle. We thought (and were told by the sales manager) we would get the best deal because last year Auffenberg let my wife drive off the lot without oil in her car after an oil change. This was a hard pill to swallow but we tried anyway. They did nothing to give us peace of mind after that incident and would hope they could at least help on a new car since that was their suggestion in the first place. After checking another dealer we found we could get a better deal even after we told them what Auffenberg did to our vehicle. I would not suggest Auffenberg for the purchase of a new car and make sure if you use them for service to ask to check your dip stick! What they don't understand it that if they would have at least checked our car thoroughly we wouldn't have these issues with their business! They chose self preservation over customer satisfaction! And to get peace of mind it still cost us $8K. At least we can say we didn't go to Auffenberg.

Auffenberg Hyundai Is Professional

by obi_wan on 09/25/2010

I walked into the dealership and was approached by a young man named Dave. He was as polite and pleasant as could be. I told him I was looking for a vehicle for my wife to replace the eight year old Kia minivan she had driven since 2002. I asked to test drive the 2011 Sonata. Dave asked, "What color?" I replied, "Red." Dave drove up in a Venitian Red Sonata GLS and my children said, "Mom will look beautiful in that car!" I took it for a test drive and dropped the kids off at home so they didn't have to be bored with the haggle time. I stopped and picked up a friend to follow me back to the dealership with the Kia minivan for trade purposes. I walked in and Dave met me with a cup of coffee and invited me to sit down and discuss the purchase. We cut to the chase and I told him what I was willing to pay. He gave me a fair offer on the minivan and within two hours, I was driving away in the new vehicle. The experience was so nice, that three weeks later I went back and purchased the 2011 Veracruz from Dave. I will tell you that there is a salesperson at the dealership that I had an unpleasant experience with several months ago when I was just browsing. He's still there and I'd never purchase a vehicle from him. Quite frankly, I was surprised to see him still sitting in the showroom with his lackluster attitude.

What am I doing taken for a second time again disrespect by Hyundai

by linspirit on 03/30/2009

If you want to know how disrespectful this company is I can tell you. The first time the Man Sean who dealt with me and me brother cussed at my brother and told him to but out I wanted the plan for bumper to bumper and wanted to pay for it. Then after I paid for it. He said my credit rated bad when in the oposite it was 750 so I got a loan at 13% When my bank found out they immediately put it on with my house loan when I called to cancel the insurance he canceled the warrantee then when I needed the warrantee he charged me another $150.00 plus over the orginal price and never saw the insurance moneys. The sale man Andy this time has been so gracious with me saying he was sorry for all I went through and that he would make sure that when I looked to the next car I did not have to deal with Sean. Three weeks ago on March 11th, 2009 he told me Sean was fired. I told me of my aunts moneys coming that I wanted to look for other suvs and would come back to see if he could match or bet there packages. He said fine. I made it clear I wanted to pay off my charge cards and put the car with my house loan. On the 21st I showed up I told him I wanted a Dodge Journey and he said they could get me a car my Santa Fe from 2008 I drove felt natural being the same as what I drive and good storeage. I told him the people at Oliver C. Joseph had free bumper to bumper warrantee he had the saleman bring in a large poster showing free car washes, oil changes, and saying bumper to bump priorty club membership. He said doesn't that bet their's they wouldn's wash your car or give you oil changes for 1000,000 miles. He was right I would have to paid for oil changes I tought he knew that. He then followed with and they will be out of business within two years. My Friend Nancy Davis was with me and was so impressed that the car that was $23,740 went down with rebates, and my trade in to 15,540 with my payments only being 333.00 if we add costs of paint and fabric protect nothing was said about my gap insurance cost or prioty club cost or I would not have done the deal. The deal was done and I sign papers put in front of me within 25 minutes with Justin Lombard not discribing any of the papers I was signing at all. When I realize what I signed he said it was my car and I had no chance to change things. You walk off our lot it is yours so live with is. When I dropped the insurance he said I hate to see your car totalled out and you have no car to drive and you will be without a vechile and still having to pay us. SO PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The service Department is great and does a great job yet I will never suggest to buy a car there to anyone again!!!!!!!!!!
