All Good But The Finance Guy

by LarryFitz on 12/12/2019

I love my truck! No squabbling with the price. However the finance guy was arrogant and gave me a high rate. I am refinancing with PNC. My bad for accepting his bad rate.

New Car Purchase

by NEWCARBUYER on 06/14/2019

As usual our purchase of my wife's new car was perfect. Had the car in stock. The price was perfect. They spent all the time needed to show us all the tech and we were in and out quickly. Don't waste your time going anywhere else.

Visit this dealership ONLY if you enjoy getting scammed.

by CorDriver on 07/15/2018

Libertyville Auto Plaza is, quite literally, the epitome of your standard shady, sleazy, unethical and dishonest dealerships. Really, this place is a "60 Minutes" special just waiting to happen. Oh where do I begin?!? My wife and I were shopping around for a Kia Sorento and had called and visited several dealerships. Our Honda minivan was on its last leg and we had taken it to Carmax to see how much we could sell it for. Carmax offered us $4,000 so we kept hold of the offer to see if other dealerships could match it on a trade-in. We visited one dealership who told us they would actually give is $100 more if we would buy from them. We eventually did buy from them but not before getting nearly burned by Libertyville, but I digress. Over the phone Libertyville offered us the same car with fewer miles for $500 less than the other dealership. They also informed us that the finance charge would be 3% and that they would match the Carmax appraisal. They had even gone so far as to assure us that there would be NO OTHER COSTS other than the typical tax, title and license fees. Thinking we had found a better deal, we drive all the way up to Libertyville, which is where the fun really begins. First as we are walking up to the entrance we are greeted by no fewer than three employees standing in front of the door smoking. Gross. Walking inside and catching our breath we are quickly handed over to "Omar", a pleasant enough fellow who, unfortunately, suffers from a delusion of honesty. We ask him to confirm that the deal that we were told over the phone was valid (3% APR, Carmax match, no hidden fees, etc) and he "assured" us that everything was on the up and up.... again... delusions of honesty. The first red flag begins when Omar tells us that, even though we have a Carmax appraisal in hand, they would like to appraise our van themselves, and there "might" be a difference of opinion. After waiting for about 10 minutes Omar rushes back and quickly tells us that they would be giving us $3500 for the trade-in but that equates to $3800 with tax savings. And of course we stood our ground and told him, "No", you are going to give us what you told us you would give us. After which Omar tells us they'll appraise it again. WHAT?!?! Really?!?! Appraise it again? What do you expect to find a few hundred dollar bills tucked away in the glove compartment in the second go around, Omar?!? The next red flag is when Omar comes back into the office and, without even checking our credit score, background, or even checking with a bank, tells us that with our trade-in (now magically $4000) our monthly payments would be $282 for 72 months. Well, let's do some basic math. If the car we are looking at is $17,000 and you apply $4,000 on a trade in bringing us down to $13,000. Then apply tax, title license, etc (assuming $2000 total) That would bring us to an amount being financed as $15,000. So pulling up a car payment calculator I quickly deduce that Omar and the merry elves in his finance department plan on charging us a whopping 10% finance charge after they told us it would be 3%!!! I instantly bring this to Omar's attention who quickly feigns doe-like innocence. At that point I inform Omar that, being the son of a former car salesman, I know what he is trying to pull and that if I see one more inkling of shenanigans from his side of the table that we would be walking out the door. So as he steps away to go get his manager, my wife and I look at the pricing list for this deal and see that they also blatantly lied about not charging us the extra fees which were peppered all over the "agreement". So, that being the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. We pack up our stuff and proceed to try to find Omar who still has our van key so we can get it back. Omar and his "manager" (I really wish I could remember the manager's name... all I can say is that the "manager" looks like he would make a good extra in "The Soprano's" if it still aired. ) "Mr. Manager" informs me that he took personal charge of appraising our van and that the number they gave us was a good one... well of course you're going to tell us that... you're the one trying to scam us!!! I quickly point out each lie they told us and demanded our key back which, at that point, they were more than happy to give after being exposed for the [non-permissible content removed] that they were. STAY AWAY... FAR AWAY... Unless, of course, you enjoy getting scammed.

Bait and switch

by Pollard on 03/28/2018

My daughter and grand daughter drove 45 miles to check out the advertised specials listed on their web site. I had called to be sure some of the 23 2017 new cars were available. I was told they were and that were new, not demos and never titled. When they talked to a salesman, they were told all the cars had been sold abut a more expensive car was available. I had also been told that 0% interest was available but the salesman said "NO. The best rate was 5%. This is clearly bait and switch tactics which is illegal in Illinois. I urge any other persons who had the same experience to file a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General, the Libertyville Chamber of Commerce and to complain to Nissan directly.

2nd vehicle @ Liberty, more 2 come

by Kimmykim35 on 03/05/2018

I love Liberty Nissan. In 2016 I had the pleasure of walking into a dealership where I immediately felt comfortable. Liberty helped make my car buying experience fun and exciting, and was there for me later when my Rogue was badly damaged in an accident. The other day we went back and purchased our second Nissan Rogue. Tony and Joel are amazing to deal with. They knew the exact vehicle my husband and I wanted before we even knew, and yes we Love the Midnight edition Rogue. I’m going to mention the service staff as well as Stewart and Matt in the Body shop because their amazing service/help along with the wonderful sales team is what convinced me to purchase from them again. If you are looking for a great vehicle and a dealership that will stand behind you during and after your purchase, look no further than Liberty Nissan.

Dissapointing

by AUTODEALER on 01/27/2017

My experience was both positive and negative. My daughter and I were in pursuit of a used Chevy Cruze that was located at Libertyville Nissan. We visited the dealership Wednesday (1/25/17) and greeted by a salesman named Greg, who was nothing short of professional, courteous and respectful – that was the positive. The negative; we took the car for a test drive and we were ready to make a deal. Upon returning to the dealership, I was greeted by Greg, the sales manager, who at first seemed pleasant until he started talking. Not to confuse Greg (the salesman) with the Greg the manager, I will refer to Greg, the manager, as “Greg – M”. Greg - M proceeded to tell me that if I financed the car vs. paying cash that he could work with me on the price. I insisted that we were not interested in financing, but interested in paying cash. Greg - M proceeded to tell me that an existing customer has a deposit on the car and that he couldn’t sell it below the published price. However, he subsequently stated that he receives a rebate if he finances the car, so the only way I would receive a discounted price is if I financed the car. Needless to say, I was miffed that he attempted to sell me a car that was committed to another customer if that was indeed the case, which I call b.s.; however, I was more baffled over the shallow and unethical sales tactics that Greg – M evidenced in front of my daughter, a recent college grad. In any event, although I read the reviews, albeit below average, prior to visiting the dealership, I am an eternal optimist and was seeking to garner a firsthand experience, which unfortunately proved distasteful. At this juncture, I kindly request that ownership look into this matter further and that proper reprimands are given. I will follow up with a letter directly to ownership in an effort to further substantiate my case in an effort to avoid a similar experience for a future customer.

Dont be fooled by low advertised pricing!

by asa1315 on 12/17/2016

Save your time and buy elsewhere! They do not sell anywhere close and I mean $2,000 near advertised their advertised price on 2016 or 2017 Nissan Rogues! Took days and hours to get them to reveal out the door pricing before I wasted more time driving there. I am a Cash in hand buyer... and they prefer Finance / Lease to meet your monthly payment. Giovanni, it the Rudest Car Salesperson I've ever met and I've purchased 40 cars in my lifetime! Run Away from them... I was so turned OFF by Liberty Nissan I bought a new Rav4! Not Kidding. Many others have complained about their FALSE advertising as well. It's all about getting you in the door... Sleazy Hot Box Pressure Sales Tactics. There are good and bad Nissan Dealerships... If you want straight honest information that doesn't insult your intelligence, then DON"T shop at Liberty Nissan. Enough Said... You've been warned. :-)

Great Deal on a new Murano

by james_7 on 10/04/2016

Dealt with George Solayman. (Thumbs UP) Right off the bat I showed him the dealership's internet offer since it was a great price to get me to the dealership. KBB.com kept bring me back to Liberty Nissan as the best price after multiple searches. Small Negative: Right away George was up front and honest and informed me that I needed to have the active/recently discharged military discount ($750), recent grad discount ($750), plus takes Nissan's 4.99% finance to get that exact internet price from Nissan incentives. That ploy was the only drawback from getting an excellent rating above but other dealerships (some when you had to inquired about them) ended up finally telling me the same thing concerning the incentives Nissan was offering. Only wish Liberty would have stated that online "Best Price dependent on qualifying incentives such as....." but I get it, enticing price through advertisement. But I'm glad George was upfront and didn't wait until paperwork was being drawn up to tell me this. I had the recent grad so just adding back $750 to the internet price was still a fantastic deal. Overwhelming Positive to my wallet: Too good to be true attitude had me leave and visit 4 other local dealerships that couldn't/wouldn't come close. Came back to Liberty and even through the financing department George stayed true to his promise that the price we agreed upon after online price and then add title, doc fee and tax would not change AND IT DIDN"T. I read bad online reviews about how numbers would change when it got to financing and he told about their bad reputation online but that was not true in my experience. Up front and honest and encouraged me to look elsewhere to get a better deal; which I did. My OUT THE DOOR price at Liberty Nissan with tax, title, and doc fees was better than most other local dealership's STARTING PRICE before tax, title, doc fee was included. At the a few dealerships I got a lot games played with withholding incentives and/or after I brought to their attention got a "Oh, wait a minute and let me see if that is still available." Not with Liberty... George and Nina, the internet rep, reconfirmed over the phone all Nissan's available incentives and did not play games. Got a great deal on a new car with 11 miles, not the demo car if you were wondering, that no other dealership could touch. Gave me 3 other options of colors to choose from in the model trim on the lot I wanted as well. Nice work George!!! Working the numbers with finance Could have got the 0% Nissan financing but they honesty stated that I would lose the around $2000 incentive for going with Nissan's standard $4.99% APR. For most people this is not a big deal since the Nissan incentive is so large and Nissan after 90 days allows you to pay off the loan and/or refinance at a extremely low % rate banks are offing these days is the way to go and suggested. Liberty finance gave me all the options and ran the number right in front of me and it was much appreciated. Icing Even threw in 4 free oil changes and unlimited car washes. Which might be standard for the sales at Liberty but still a great final push. Customer service: Politely was offered extra warranties and protections for the car but I declined without any added pressure to reconsider. No hassle approach. Thanks Liberty

Rip off

by MS12345 on 08/09/2016

Went in there to buy a car for my wife. Ended up buying a brand new Nissan Rouge. Was willing to put $5k down and finance the rest. Price of the vehicle originally sounded little steep. Sales guy went to "how much per month" sales tactic. per month deal with $5k sounded great but overal price of the vehicle was way to high. We were getting ready to leave when sales guy comes back saying that what if you keep the same monthly payment with $0 down. 1st thought was of how much longer will be paying for the car. He replied that it's the same length of the loan making it sound like we just got a $5000 rebate. We were rushing thru the process as a daycare for our son was closing soon. Hoping that we would not be taken advantage of as the deal was coming to an end. I have signed all documents in a rush and was out the door. Interest rate seemed quite high as my and my wife's credit history is nearly perfect and we have always qualified for 0% financing when buying cars in the past. Financing was done thru Nissan as this was given as the only option. Here is where Nissan get their $5k rebate back. Cost of the loan with interest comes near perfect $5000. I know for the fact that we were not offer best financing option but the one that worked in favor to dealer. Nissan at that time was offering 0% financing special. We definitely were able to qualify. Once again this is a great example of shady ways of some dealerships. I just got a cashiers check and will be paying of the car before the even 1st payment is due just so the can kiss their $5k bye bye. Too bad I have to dip into savings but in a long run its a win for us. Too bad this is a "one time shooter" dealership and want be seeing our business back ever again. Wonder how the sales people and finance manager can sleep well at night ripping people off like that. I have not time to be going there or dealing again with those people. I do not want to hear excuses or being blamed for not reading docs as I was rushing myself to get our son. I should be able to trust staff little more.

My husband and I were interested in purchasing a used vehicle and were blessed to be able to buy a brand new Kia Soul within our price budget! Andrew is an amazing salesman who is extremely knowledgeable about cars. He is very personable and helpful and answered all of our questions. We didn't feel pressured or pushed into buying right away. He helped to make the entire process very easy and pleasant. We are grateful! Thank you Andrew and thank you to Liberty Auto Plaza! WORST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER

by madbuyer2 on 06/16/2015

I had the worst possible buying experience at Liberty Auto Plaza. I would not send my dog Glory there to purchase a vehicle. I test drove a car that I really wanted. The salesman inadvertently put the wrong stock number down and the wrong car was financed. As I was unpacking my trade in getting ready to put my belongings in the car I thought I was purchasing, the finance manager came running... that is the wrong car. We put the financing on the black car. I asked.. is it the same. I was told it was the exact same car accept it didn't have a sun roof. They were all saying well with your credit take it, bring it back in a year, it is the same. I felt pressured, and rushed so made the mistake of taking the car, trusting what they were telling me. I slowly began to see that the car didn't even have some of the features that my 13 year old jeep that I traded in had, and that the car that I test drove had that they said was the same. [non-permissible content removed]! THEY CHEATED A BLACK WOMAN by herself. I tried to take the car back. I was told to keep it because now I am underwater with the loan. In 3 weeks I have found out that the car was overpriced, I can only get the car's worth in a trade in. I am now more than 7000 underwater in a car that is Blue book priced at 12,000! What a rip off and what [non-permissible content removed]. DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT. They tried to work with me by putting me in a more expensive car with a higher note. How about giving me my old Jeep back and canceling this deal. How about saying, we made a mistake, let's get you in the car that you want and we will take on the expense of canceling the deal and righting the wrong. I am sure that they have ripped off enough other people that they can pay the finance company. Last but not least, I went to try to trade the car in at another establishment, where I was told that it was only worth 12,000 after I had paid 17 and that the tires are bad with no treads. This was after they told me the tires were new! [non-permissible content removed]! DO NOT GO THERE if you do bring a man with you, maybe they wouldn't cheat you. I am going to the better business bureau, seven on seven and anyone who will here my story. It is a shame that in 2015 a black woman can not go and purchase a vehicle without being taken advantage of. AGAIN DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!

NIGHTMARE IN LIBERT AUTO PLAZA!!!!!!!

by manuelr1 on 03/03/2015

NIGHTMARE IN LIBERTY AUTO PLAZA!!!!!!! BEWARE DON'T WALK AWAY, RUNNNNNNNNNNNN.......!!!!!!! Worst experience in my life and believe me I've purchased many vehicles at dealerships in my life but not any like this! I should have followed my instincts when I walked in and my wife said wow what a filthy place. after about 10 minutes the salesman Robert (don't deal with him or his used car sales manager). After a long chat he brought up the vehicle we were there to see, truck was filthy and smelled like a wet dog had been in it. We decided to drive the truck which drove good although I did notice a noise in the power steering which I brought to their attention. Robert told me don't worry we will fix it and we will give it a complete detail inside and out including the engine compartment. the exterior had some scratches and a dent on the back bumper, front drivers door needed a new hinge and the front passengers door trim pane had a dent. I brought all these issues up and Robert said" I promise I will take care of all these issues the truck will look like new". We did like the truck and were hesitant but he kept insuring us that the truck would look like new. We decided to go ahead with the deal and we had a trade in which he said they would give us what we owed on it, and pay it off, which I figured was a good deal. We finally get called in to do the paper work when I noticed the final price was $1500.00 over and when I looked they were only giving me $8000.00 and not the $9500.00. They had essentially added the $1500.00 to the sales price. I should have walked away then but after haggling again with Robert I settled for $8750.00 at this point I was so upset and tired we signed the paperwork and was given a promissory not of all the details that where to be repaired as I stayed above. I took my new vehicle home and brought it back 2 days later as I was told to do. They took two whole weeks and was told the vehicle was done after I called to complain why this was taking so long. I go to pick up the vehicle and the only thing they did to it was the door hinge and a oil change. I was now very upset as you can imagine. When I finally get to speak to Robert he said "that's all we can do, you cant expect to make this vehicle look new". He finally agreed to clean the engine compartment and give it an oil change as I complained that the oil was still black. I was told to bring it back on Monday for the oil change and when I get to the service department they tell me I don't have an appointment. Glen in the service department was very nice and said we will take care of it. I spoke to the assistant Manager about what was promised to me and that they had put it in writing and he said they would take care of it. To make a long story short I was told to bring it back again, mind you I live in Chicago that's a 40 Min drive, which I did this time it was there for a week and again I call Glen at the service Dept, they did not call me and says vehicle is ready. I pick up my vehicle and notice that the fuel gage is marking 1/4 tank, when I dropped it off I had 3/4 Tank of Gas and the vehicle had over 200 miles more than when I dropped it off. I was now sick to my stomach but I took my keys and drove away. Never again will I step foot in this Dealership and I hope you don't either. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me!

Got a price quote online from them. Called spoke to Destiny about car and price. Everything sounded right. Drove on 1 and a half hours and when we got to the pricing sales person wanted 1500 more than agreed upon price. He then told.me my price included a MLK incentive of 750 that expired. 1ST, where did the other 750 come from. 2nd, I told him I discussed this price today and was set to buy at this price and that an expired rebate wasn't part of deal. After speaking with manager he was willing to take 200 off. Sorry, but I drove an hour and a half for a price 1500 lower. I left without buying. Everyone there will tell you every lie just to get you in the door then jack up the price. Salesman even told me they put out "some pretty aggressive sales aads to get you here". Never again. Will I even consider here an option.

Great Experience

by sgraham2 on 06/29/2014

I purchased Nissan Rogue SV from Liberty Auto Plaza Dealership and had a great experience with them. They were very fast getting back to me with the information that I needed and sent me the invoice through email before I went there to pick up the car. The communication was wonderful with them. They did exactly what they promised over the phone and held the car for me until I got there, which was a three hour drive. Their staff members were very friendly and accommodating to my wishes and willing to work with me on every aspect. Especially, the general manager, Steve, was excellent, leading the entire purchase process. I highly recommend the Liberty Auto Plaza.

Got an amazing deal on a 2014 Kia Sedona. Prompt service and very attentive to details. Would highly recommend!!! Found a car online, called, negotiated and deal and set up the financing all over the phone. I just drove down, signed some paperwork and drove off in my new van. Was a great experience with these guys and will definately keep them in mind again, even though I am in another State and 100 miles away!

I would recommend this dealership.

by billyjean3678 on 03/28/2012

I did not end up purchasing my new vehicle from Liberty Auto Plaza basically because of prefference. I decided to go with Infinity just because after test driving I found that was the right vehicle for me. They had just asked me to write a review if I thought that the experience was good and I told them I would love to. They treated me with respect and while I was there I felt that they were very helpful and honest. I did not feel pressured at all when I was there like you might feel at some other dealerships. For example M'lady Nissan in Crystal Lake. They have high pressure sales people there and when I got there they tryed to raise me on price after what was promised me on the phone before I came in. I walked out, and they proceeded to chase me down in the parking lot trying to get me to tell them what it would take to make a deal. It was totally unprofessional. When I came into Liberty Auto Plaza they answered any questions I had. They had the Altimas and Maximas in stock that I could test drive. When we sat down and talked payment and terms they made sence. It is unfortunate for them I took my business elsewhere. But I would highly reccomend this dealership.
