Exceptional Experience!

After shopping around at other dealerships we decided to go to Autonation. Best decision! Our salesman, Aaron, sales manager, Luis, and finance manager were extremely helpful, polite, and respectful. Aaron went way above by taking the Navy license plate holder and steering wheel cover off our trade and putting them on new vehicle.

Excessive time

After a 2.5 hour drive and having gone over most figures via email before visit, more than 3 hours at dealership was extreme and uncalled for if personnel had been prepared. On the plus side, we did come to an agreement and I drove home (2.5 hours) in new Toyota Sienna Platinum.

First time car purchase

First time buyer. Great experience, but I thought the dealer would throw in some small gift (like cargo tote, first aid, emergency kit, door edge guards). They did not come down from their sticker price, even though Edmunds priced it a little lower. Still learning the car features, but so far I do NOT like that I have to keep the phone plugged in for maps to work. When I was there, I asked how to see the maps and they never outright said that the phone MUST be plugged in to see the maps.

Recommended, but with a caveat.

My saleswoman and her immediate supervisor worked very hard to find the vehicle I wanted, ultimately succeeding for me. However, the dealership has a policy of "first into the showroom, first sold to." Even if they have already promised you a specific vehicle to you via text, phone or email, if the vehicle is already on their lot and someone else gets walks into the dealership before you get there, they will sell the car out from under you. That's what happened to me. A car that someone else had reserved but was rejected by them when it arrived on the lot was offered to me after hours on a Saturday night via text. I accepted it at a specific price within the hour, and my acceptance was acknowledged. But Sunday morning, before I had any chance to make the two hour drive to the dealership, another salesperson sold it to someone who walked into the showroom that morning. I didn't find out it had been sold out from under me until my own salesperson discovered it when she reported to work on Monday morning. She advised me that the dealership's policy was that any salesperson can sell any car on their lot to a walk-in, even if it was already promised to someone else online. Outrageous, right? To avoid this, you can't depend on being promised something already on their lot. Instead, you must RESERVE a vehicle, sight unseen, that has not yet arrived and agree on the price BEFORE it ships from the factory to the dealership. You will only have the manufacturing VIN, not the final VIN, to identify it by. Some days before it arrives, you will be sent the final VIN it has been assigned. My saleswoman and her manager worked with me to do this for a car allotted to their dealership about two weeks after the other car was sold out from under me. If not for their personal efforts, I would not have bought a car from this dealership.

But a car from Dawson

I first want to start by saying I hate car shopping. I don’t like salespeople in general and I feel cars salespeople are the worst considering I’ve had probably every scheme and trick you could think of pulled on me. With that being said I let my salesperson Dawson know my concerns and that I was skeptical. He went out of his way to calm my worries and assure I wasn’t going to be screwed over. He literally took videos of himself with the car and the time to prove it was on the lot and was there before I got there. He brought his manager over (Edward) to again assure me they weren’t like the other guys. I told them which bank I wanted to work with and they stuck strictly with that bank and didn’t try to hit my credit with other lender checks. I did want to wait a week before writing a review to assure I had no issues with the car once driving it home and having it as I have had in the past. I’ve had no issues. Back to the buying process, Austin handled the paperwork and I loved how easy going and patient he was as my 9yr old sassy daughter was along for this whole process. He answered every question I had and waited for me to calculate things like the $100 donation I had seen in one review claiming we pay for it. They do not add on or try to hide this $100 donation, they just take it out of the tax that you were already paying. Which again I did the math and the tax amount was right and nothing was added. Both Austin and Dawson even helped me clean out my old car moving them to my new car and when I went to leave Dawson noticed I was sitting there for a bit and came over to make sure I was good and knew where everything was. Mind you this was an hour after they closed and he could have just been like I’m out once everything was done with the paperwork. This was honestly one of the best car buying experiences I’ve ever had and I can hands down say I love my car. It’s literally everything I wanted and I feel I got it for a fair/great price and was happy with what they gave me for my trade in. I will definitely be back and hope that if Dawson is there he can sell me my next car when my current baby can’t drive anymore. I did forget to mention my only dislike and it’s a personal opinion and because I get anxiety, and I get why they do it but I don’t like that there are salespeople right outside the door ready to just pounce the moment you walk up. Again I get it just not for me.
