Unethical and dishonest.

by L.Montes on 11/22/2022

My name is Laura Montes, and I am writing you about my unfortunate experience at Key Buick GMC at 4660 Southside Boulevard, Jacksonville, Florida 32216. I was subject to retaliation, deceptive practices, and despairing treatment by your sales personnel. I am considering seeking legal advice, reporting the incident to the Fraud & consumer protection agency, and filing a claim with Better Business Bureau and the Attorney's General Office to address these issues. The sales representative, D.W. drove home for me to test drive the GMC Terrain I had applied to buy. I told him I had another deal waiting, and he agreed to work some numbers because he wanted to earn my business. I agreed to stop by the dealer and review a quote. The quote included an optional $1,150 paint and tire protection warranty which I crossed out and asked him to please remove from the quote. We spent hours negotiating the price. He then talked to his manager and returned to us with the exact quote, but now it was $200 less. He circled the best and final price he could offer on the total balance, but it still contained the optional $1,158 protection, so we requested to talk to the sales manager. After a brief negotiation, the sales manager Derek Archer agreed to give us credit for $200 off the price of the vehicle and provide a 2nd car key at no additional cost. The following day, D.W., the salesperson, presented me with a final draft of the sales contract with the protection plan at $968.47, which was supposed to be removed. They tried to trick me into applying the $200 credit to the protection plan, not the car's sales price. D.W. argued that I had agreed to this contract. He got furious, tore our agreement apart (I have pictures), removed my tag from the car, and asked me to leave. I asked him again to remove the protection plan and requested to see the sales manager. Derek, the manager, didn't talk to me nor acknowledge our conversation but instead removed the extra protection, eliminated the $200 credit from the car sales price, and denied me the spare key offered to us as a condition to buy the car. In other words, to make this deal, since we have declined the protection, he had to remove the $200 credit and not give us a 2nd key as promised. His decision retaliated against me because I declined to buy the optional protection, which was unprofessional; I felt deceived and found their dishonest behavior unacceptable. They forced this warranty into the contract first through deception. Secondly, D.W. claimed he couldn't be removed, and lastly, when I told him that I was not going to buy the vehicle with the optional warranty, he tried to coerce me by retracting the offer to remove $200 and providing the 2nd key. I grudgingly agreed and bought the car at full price and without a second key. I felt they were dishonest; therefore, I requested a copy of all the paperwork signed on that date to find out that the representative had forged my signature on the inspection report. I don't recall signing this document at the dealer nor acknowledging or inspecting the vehicle as the report stated. The car had several issues and broken parts that later had to be fixed by the dealership. GMC's good reputation has been ruined for life. This was the worst car-buying experience I have ever had. Salespeople like Mr. Walton and Mr. Archer give care sales associates a lousy name. I consider them to be unethical and dishonest. I hope my Terrain will serve me well for years to come, and I will certainly not return to nor recommend Key Buick GMC.

Just in time!

by abakaria on 04/02/2023

I have been trying to get my car repaired for several years now. I’ve seen various mechanics and none of them could ascertain the root cause of my concerns about the rough idling that progressively got worse over time. Jeff quickly diagnosed the problem, explained it to me in a way that I could understand, and completed the repairs very quickly. I feel very grateful to Jeff and the service team, as I can now drive with confidence, and truly feel that I’ve now added years to the life of my vehicle.

Visit

by Ms. Kettles on 12/09/2018

I recently brought my truck in with a flat tire. Not only did the customer service that was given by Mr. Jeff Moore was a-ma-zing, he was able to get my vehicle taken care of one day earlier than promised.

Maintenance check

by Diana G. on 12/05/2018

My Buick app let me know that it was time for my maintenance check and oil change. From start to finish, Jeff in the service lane took care of me! I even got a complimentary car wash! My Encore was serviced faster than I thought and all is well!

Great Experience

by gatorwayne on 10/10/2017

David Hayes was very polite and informative about what we were interested in buying. He showed us numerous Encores and was always patient and never tried to push the sale. When it comes time to trade my other car, I'll be looking for David.

Key Buick Sells Damaged Goods as NEW PART

by DFulton on 03/28/2017

On March 13, 2017, I took my GMC Sierra to Key Buick GMC for a new front bumper/air deflector and for repair of minor frontal damage. When I picked up the vehicle Friday, March 17, 2017, I did not immediately notice the dings in the shiny chrome bumper as it gleamed in the sunshine. However, when I arrive home and looked at the bumper under the shade of a tree, I saw dings. I called Key Buick GMC immediately. Then, I went back to the dealership. The following Monday came and went without a call from Key Buick GMC. Tuesday came and went without a call from the dealership. Wednesday came, but, before it went, I called Key Buick GMC. I was told by "Holly" that the new bumper she ordered was received but was also damaged. Thursday came and went with not call from the dealership. Friday came and went with no call from the dealership. Monday, March 27, 2017, came and went with no call from the dealership. Now, it's another Tuesday with no call from Key Buick GMC. I have been going to Key Buick GMC for maintenance and repairs for our General Motors vehicles (2010 Chevrolet Equinox and 2008 GMC Sierra) since 2013. This is poor customer service to be providing to a loyal dealership customer and a loyal General Motors buyer. I have canceled payment via my credit card company. I am not paying for a damaged bumper. If necessary, I am prepared to file a small claims in court. In fact, I have already started preparing for that course of action by researching the registered agent (Maureen Burnett) for this dealership. Since this dealership represents General Motors, I hope you can hold Key Buick GMC accountable for its actions. I would appreciate any assistance you provide.

Upgraded my 2012 GMC Terrain for a 2017 GMC Terrain

by SkyeCat on 03/08/2017

Came in for general service on my old GMC Terrain and found out it would need about $2000 worth of general maintenance work done (brakes, tires, oil change, just normal maintenance) Instead of having the work done I opted to upgrade to a newer vehicle. I was put in touch with Richard Rood that day and made the decision to come back on a later day and purchase a new Terrain. I made an appt with Richard to be able to bring my husband with me. On the day of our appt we came in, took a test drive and were done with everything within a few hours. Quick and painless process! I absolutely love my new Terrain and will be back in a few years to purchase another vehicle with Richard!

Car Buying Fun

by Krishbrown on 02/17/2016

My dealer, David Hayes, was fabulous. I came in told him some credit history. He asked what I was looking for and took down notes. A few moments later he came back with what I wanted. He showed me how the different options worked in the vehicle, and I was surprised at all the options that were installed. I plan to return for future purchases and will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Exceptional Dealership

by bob538 on 03/23/2013

Our experience with Key Buick was a very good one. Everyone was very professional. Customer service was excellent. Our salesperson, Jane C. was knowledgeable and always available for questions regarding all vehicles. She familiarized us with the car and the dealership both before and after purchase helping us make the final decision. The sales manager Steve B. was also exceptional and very helpful in guiding us towards our decision to purchase a new Buick Lacrosse.
