Do Not Trust. Do Not Buy. Bait and Switch Tactics. Poor customer service.

by DontBuyFromLoKeyVW on 12/07/2022

No doesn't mean no at LoKey. Stop messaging unless you can meet the numbers im looking for, means harass possible customers. Apparently the GM can't be bothered, as I called and the girl answering the phone refused to 1. call him 2. find him 3. do anything other than tell me she could get anyone else but the GM. If I wanted anyone else, I would have asked for anyone else. This is the THEME at this VW location, they do NOT listen. I am perfectly fine with a dealer not being able to get to a price, that is going to happen. I am not fine with the misleading dealer ad's (get to that in a minute) their + + fees. What I am not fine with is I give you a number and 24 messages later you still can't get the hint. And get aggressive. I have worked in BDC, worked at dealership in diff capacities and I did not ever see this in any of our locations in Central Florida. Maybe Sonic Automotive just does it better? They don't harass people when they tell them NO. The Salesman and I started off on a okay foot as I had asked for all of the scratches and scuffs on the car I was interested in. I was told this car was "MINT". Even told there was no scuffs or scratches and to just come in. Nope.. I want to see photos. After asking two more times, I finally get all of these scratches and scuff photos. Now, mind you LOWKEY VW hides a 3000 RECON (Recondition fee) in their fees. So when you see a car listed it's BAIT and SWITCH. At least have the ...s to listed it right up front in font, the same size as everything else. **** What's Included in Auto Reconditioning? As stated above, auto reconditioning services include a variety of mechanical repairs and checkups. Your team inspects and adjusts, as necessary, everything under the hood, inside the interior, and on the body itself. The last step of the process is the detailing itself, which will take all of the hard work you put into updating the car and adds a little sparkle. All those steps are crucial to establishing trust with your customers. What happens when a used-vehicle buyer brings in the car for the first oil change and discovers that the vehicle needs more than that because the vehicle was not reconditioned properly? Your reputation matters. Here are some examples of what goes into all the aspects of auto reconditioning: Body condition: fix dings, paint chips, dents, paint imperfections, and scratches Engine: belts, fans, spark plugs, cylinders Maintenance: oil and filter changes Suspension: ball joints, tie rods, struts Brakes: inspect and replace pads and rotors, if necessary Interior: electrical system, heating, and air conditioning Exterior: lights, exhaust system ************************************* That is what dealers who are competent do. 3000 is still excessive and worse is that while they are arguing me about the fee, they never even fixed the items on this car. This car has been on the market for 27 days so, there has been plenty of time to get those things resolved. Either way, it was NOT. And no, the excuse of (we will wait till customer gets it, doesn't fly) unless... yeah This is why you get it ready BEFORE hand. Now, btw. I talked to the sales rep and gave him my numbers. He came back and told me numbers that were a heck of a lot more. I was confused, I thought I was purchasing a different car. This is when they came up with these mysterious numbers, 3000 fees. doc fees of 995. and non tax fees of 494. Now mind you, I ALREADY GAVE the numbers of where I need to be. 7 times. And he kept texting and texting even after I said to STOP. He couldn't meet the numbers so yes, here we are. Now, the best part is him putting words and my mouth and calling me a liar. I advised that I would have my guy resolve the matter with the paint etc.. although, I should not have to. I never gave a price but later in the conversation he said "I said" that "the paint would be a 20.00 fix." First, I am not that ..... (can't put the word here). Second, the fact that he said it needed to just have paint applied and buffed shows he has NO clue wth he is talking about. Every one of those spots has to be sanded down, paint applied, then buff/wetsand/polish. Anyone with common sense knows this. 20.00 doesn't get any of those fixed correctly but sure we will go with that. If it's that simple, WHY DIDN'T LOKEY do it while charging 3k for recon. The guy my dads dealership uses told me it's roughly 500/600 fix but even then yeah... These folks are unprofessional, they are taking advantage of people and it's wrong. I highly recommend you find someone else to do business with. Reason this car has been there 27 days since it's such a smoking deal. It's a deal at 16995 when you can work the numbers. It's NOT a deal at all, especially with repairs etc.. you will need to do. And what concerns me is. what repairs actually were done? Hmm?

DON'T ESPECIALLY IF YOUR FEMALE... IT'S NOT WORTH THE BELITTLING

by Manders on 05/10/2021

Warning! Beware! If you are female stay away! Joe Haig, Tony, and Phil are sleazy guys! The finance guy was talking about how he had to buy a new sofa because his son's friend has "ball juice" that gets on the couch!!! How do you talk to women that way? A bunch of misogynistic men here. I bought a 2020 Volkswagen on Saturday May 1st. Someone hit the car had a big dent in the driver side door while I was signing papers. They are going to fix it but told me I had to rent a car. This is unacceptable. My mom and I were yelled at and surrounded by all the men in the lobby when we asked for a loaner car or to just cancel the purchase 6 days after I bought it. They would not help in any way. Mothers day weekend my mom and I were treated like trash. My mom called and spoke to Tony and he said he'd have a loaner car for me today so they could fix the car. Just left without a loaner can. We could not speak with the General Manager Matt Lokey as of course he is always in a meeting. Being a woman in a man's world at this dealership is not worth it. 😭

Amazing experience!

by Shaunhughes on 04/03/2019

Amazing experience! Everyone at Lokey is polite and professional. There are no high pressure sales tactics or other bs. They are all straight shooters from Brad our internet sales manager, to Chester in F&I to Joe the GM. Every part of the process on their end was smooth and easy. My wife and I live in Port St Lucie, FL and after this experience we will never go anywhere else to purchase a car. The 3 hour drive was 100% worth it!

Major service Rip OFFF!

by nhendricks1 on 02/21/2014

Hi Mr J., My experience with Lokey was horrible. Your service manager (Dale) and the mechanic (Brett) was obviously trying to rip me off. I spoke with Dale several times on the phone before having my car towed in to the service department. He continuously reassured me that it was just a battery that I needed, that all the signs my car was showing was from a dead battery. Once there he continued to say it was the battery, don't worry. After being there an hour, he came back with $6000 worth of repairs. These were written on a normal estimate sheet with your letterhead. He said that I had to do at least $5000 worth of repairs in order to even drive the car out of the service department. He claimed I had a bad battery, alternator, several hoses, brake booster hose, valve cover gaskets, and several other things. I was shocked and asked him to give me a written estimate that I could show my spouse. He said that he could not give me the estimate on the paper he had written it up on but he would type in on another page for me. He did type it on a plane white piece of paper with no date, letter head or signature of any kind. He then took me into the garage to show me my car which was apart in pieces. He showed me a thimble shaped part with a hole in it and said it was an important part of my engine and that the car could not run without it. He said the engine was boring a hole through this important part. He also told me that oil was leaking from my Turbo cut off valve into the computer brain and would short circuit the whole car if I did not get that fixed. He introduced me to Brett, the mechanic, and said that I should only talk to him or Brett if I call in to the service department. I told him I could not afford these repairs. He said that he would be off work the next day and I should not speak with the other department manager, either wait until he returned of talk with Brett only. I felt they were both very shady. I felt they were both trying to take advantage of me being a woman by myself at the dealership. My father was a mechanic and my brother is a district manager for "Just Breaks." I spoke with both of them over the phone, they live in different state than I, and I read the list to them and they told me they believed that Lokey was trying to rip me off and that the majority of the items on the list would never need repairs based on the milage of my car. And, that they should not have inspected these things without my permission which I never gave them. They suggested that I should tow it out of there and take it to another mechanic. I did tow it on Monday. I went over the list with the new mechanic. My battery was fine. I did need an alternator. Nothing else on the list was wrong with my car. My repairs were $600 instead of $6000. My car is running fine. I am posting this experience to every review website that I can find. I hope I can help other women from getting robbed at your business. I have attached a picture of the list he typed up for me. The blue arrows are written by him, he said that I needed to do everything above that arrow especially the $1602 job he wrote the box lines around.

New Tuareg Purcahase

by ridley5 on 05/15/2013

I purchased a new Tuareg a few months ago and was delighted with the product. On reviewing the paperwork later at home I was disturbed that the verbal discount had not been included and of course in the melee of taking out extra coverage and the excitement of picking up a new vehicle I drove off paying the full price. This type of treatment (an existing customer) makes me think of all the used car salesman jokes, but Lokey presents itself as an up front dealership. I felt I should comment on my experiences just in case it is a trend in the sales team. I hope not, I cannot praise the service group enough.

Dont go to VW Lokey Clearwater for Larry

by suprmario84 on 02/01/2011

Do not buy from this location. Larry the Sales Manager will not sell you a car at a fair price just because he made his sales quota for the month. No to mention when I call back for further clarification Kathy ( the pathetic secretary) hung up the phone every time I simply asked for Larry. what theses [violative content deleted] don't realize their whole profile and picture are online. If you see them here or at any other dealer, do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.

Sales person was a terrible judge of character and asked for a date

by sail6382 on 07/30/2008

The sales person pushed me toward a lower end vehicle based on what I was currently driving...a 2000 TDI VW GL. Rather than asking questions, he made assumptions. He only showed me the most basic model because he said he could see that I was single, found out I lived alone and he thought that "pretty blonde girls" belonged in red cars...When I requested a sunroof his response was "well, that adds a lot of extra money to the vehicle and we want to keep your payments within reach," without knowing my budget mind you. One more thing, he didn't let me drive the car off the lot. He waited until we were on a long strait road to give me the controls. This is why I prefer to shop on the internet. ALSO, two weeks later in his follow up call, he asked me out. Unprofessional.
