It's All About The Money

by Jim L on 06/07/2023

My daughter was searching for cars with Carfax. She found the car of her dreams at Gettel Hyundai. She contacted the dealer and started what she thought was the buying process, including completing a credit app. When she called the next morning to get a status update she was informed the car was sold to someone else. The salesman said it was out of his control, a manager had let the car go because they do not hold cars. So, the car is gone, and no one really cares about my daughter's deal. This dealer is all about the money. For example, in every used car contract they include an Average Investment Reconditioning cost of $1,495 and a Pre-Delivery Service Charge of $1,099. So, there is $1,500 to wash and vacuum the car, and the salesman told me the $1,099 goes in Mr. Gettel's pocket to "help pay expenses." If you would prefer not to deal with a dealer that typifies the "used car dealer," then find someone else to buy a car from. UPDATE: Within two hours my daughter found the same model car with similar mileage and price at Courtesy Chrysler Jeep in Tampa. She asked them if they would sell the car out from under her while she was completing the finance application. They responded, "no that would not be fair, we would never do that." She completed the app, was approved in less than a minute, and the deal was sealed. And, there was no Average Investment Reconditioning or Pre-Delivery Service Charge! How Gettel Hyundai gets good reviews is beyond me.

New Service Dealer

by Sue70Mac on 12/02/2015

I relocated and had to change to a new dealer service department. The Gettell Lakewood in Bradenton is the closet for me. I went in for an oil change. No problem, was the same charges as I had been paying at previous dealer, Palm Auto in Port Charlotte. The other service that was required was more costly, and I was not given the cost prior to doing the work, I was informed however work was needed. I will go back for next service and will then determine how good and honest this dealer is.

Beware of Finance Manager

by bewarefincmgr on 08/18/2015

Bought a top of the line car from this dealership. All went smoothly until the Finance Manager tried to force a lease on me. I wanted to finance the car and this guy insulted my intelligence for wanting to pay for it. I wanted to finance a small amount with a local bank and he refused. Once I did not accept his lease offer - he turned surly and uncooperative. Also, dealer promised to take care of a couple of things and hasn't even bothered to call to make an appointment like he promised and now I find out they did not tell me about a factory recall!

Great experience

by michellew63 on 01/31/2015

We purchased a new vehicle for our son. We were very pleased with everything from start to finish. Our salesman, JR, was very attentive and helpful. Thanks to the manager, Darren, for treating us right. I would highly recommend this dealership.

Caveat Emptor

by Buyingconsumer on 10/26/2013

I was unhappy with the service department at Gettel Hyundai on Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota. So I thought I'd change over to Bradenton Hyundai, not that far away. Little did I know the place is under the same Gettel Hyundai ownership. Talk about going from the frying pan to the fire. The service writers in the department are so unknowledgeable and incompetent it now makes me wonder what quality of work they actually foist upon the public. The appointment system - a farce. Vehicle history system - a disaster. Thank goodness my car is no longer under warranty and I can take it to a quality mechanic of my own choosing because there is NO DECENT HYUNDAI SERVICE CENTER IN THE ENTIRE SARASOTA/MANATEE COUNTY AREA

Keep your hand on your wallet

by Ferrari348 on 07/16/2013

Absolutely the worst sales experience I've had in 40 years of buying and leasing cars. THE WORST. These guys treat you like you have no knowledge of "their" business. Hidden fees, blank stares, lack of candor, make this experience laughable. Run, don't walk AWAY from this place.

BEST Sales Experience EVER!

by lagnetti on 06/16/2013

I wanted a Hyundai Sonata Limited in light blue. I worked with a couple other dealers but my sales person, Angie L., was the best auto sales person I have ever worked with. I am a woman who has bought many cars in my lifetime so I know great treatment when I see it - and it doesn't happen often in a car dealership. Based on my experience, I would highly recommend Hyundai of Bradenton.

The "BEST " Customer Sales and Service

by JimmyHO on 04/11/2013

Thank you to the entire staff at Hyundai of Bradenton. I was treated with respect and this was the ONLY dealership that actually worked with my budget. The Salesman listened carefully to all my needs and certainly was not pushy whatsoever!! The best buying experience I have ever had!

Nice and Easy Experience

by toastycoastie on 04/07/2013

Much like going to EBAY or Google shopping. The team at Hyuandai of Bradenton didn't have what I wanted in stock but found it for me. Nick (my salesman) made the entire experience enjoyable (i.e. shorter than any other car buying experience I've ever had). Unlike the other two reviews, they didn't try to drive up the price on me. On the contrary, they did the opposite. I am in the military and belong to a rather large military friendly credit union. This credit union has a car buying program that allowed me to save thousands. Having already tried Autotrader, Yahoo Cars etc, I was growing impatient trying to get a good deal over the internet and phone. I had just released my credit union request over the internet when Nick called me. He had a no nonsense deal that actually beat the credit unions low ball bid by $700. I asked to confirm that there were no hidden fees or anything other than the TT&L and dealer fee. Nick said no. I was still skeptical when I arrived at the dealership but to my surprise it was my best car buying experience. I was out the door paying less than I had ever hoped with my new fully loaded Elantra GT. I know the dealership is under new ownership and from what I observed, a new attitude toward customers. Thanks Nick and goodluck to your granddaughter and her MMA career!

Bad Experiance

by jal128 on 02/18/2012

My initial contact with HoB was speedy and pleasant. I was told that I they had a Veloster for me to come test drive within the hour. not 20 min later when I arrived I was told that they had no velosters left and they sold the last one the previous day. They guy claimed that he had forgoten to log it and thats why the person I spoke with thought there was one. Either way someone screwed up and wasted all the time they said they were gonna save me. Currently I am getting my custom veloster from Crown Hyundai in St. Pete. I rank customer service very highly in what I look for in a company and this Dealership failed.

Worst experience ever, dealer should be reported

by westy12 on 09/03/2011

Worked out a deal on line with bottom line price including tax title dealer fees etc… with a trade in possibility after they saw our vehicle. We went down, this was my son's first car and the one he wanted. They checked out his trade in and gave us a price. We agreed. Contract was drawn and THEN they added on options like mud guards for $399.00, love bug repellant $699.00 etc… OPTIONS. we said no, no, and no thank you. They then refused to sell the car unless we purchased some of the options. Even the owner Mr Jenkins was there. Saying 'this is the hottest car on the planet and if you dont want it we can sell it tomorrow'. Even though I explained it wasnt the offer we had been given and we had a deal. The manager said, "It's not a deal til you sign the paper" That is true, but to say this was a slimey way to do business is the understatement of the year. I would not trust this dealership ever, and hope this review prevents someone from having a similar experience. I would never take them at their word, never.

Beware of JENKINS Hyundai of Bradenton!!!

by hermitld on 04/22/2010

Beware of JENKINS Hyundai!!! They LIE, and will confuse you!! My 70+ yr. old widowed sister was buffaloed into paying $2400 too much for her recent purchase at Jenkins Hyundai Dealership. With her husband she has purchased 5 new cars at Jenkins and up until this sham, they were happy with the cars and service they received. Thus, she, felt she could trust the dealer in her recent purchase. The "top salesman" used the usual 'promise them anything' and when the financial department jumps into the deal, they change the details of the purchase. After buying 5 cars from Jenkins in the past she felt the dealership could be trusted to tell her the truth. The "top Salesman" saw this as an opportunity to enhance his commission, and he did. Unfortunately my sister didn't tell me about this fiasco until two weeks after the purchase. I suggested she return the car immediately however she was so distraught over her purchase she wouldn't drive the car. I live in NC and made a special trip to Bradenton to see if I could offer her some encouragement to return this car or correct some of the over charges. When we returned to Jenkins Hyundai to confront the salesman who sold her the car, the salesman said it is what it is, nothing he could do now. We asked to see the finance manager, he wasn't available? The dealership showed us into a cubicle (away from prying eyes) and a man came in and was unable to explain the financial terms, obviously he had drawn the short straw and was elected to ignore my sisters questions. After 30 +/- minutes of pointless conversation with this nice but inept person my sister was so irritated we had to leave. She is a lady and wouldn't allow me to stay and get the results she deserved. It's been 3 months now and she still can't drive the car, it makes her ill when she thinks about how Jenkins Hyundai took advantage of her. I know better than to trust salesmen, its their job to sell, however, Jenkins Hyundai's "top salesman for 6 years" does all those fellow sales personnel a real disservice. Not all dealers use the deceptive tactics my sister experienced at Jenkins Hyundai. Hyundai, in my opinion, builds reliable, utilitarian, and attractive cars.It seems to me they need to review their dealership more closely. Maybe their growing too fast? Buyer Beware is still and prudent axiom for potential shoppers.

We were looking at cars trying to decide which car to purchase. We saw a Genesis demo with 3 thous. miles on it priced at 45,000. We made an offer of 39,000.oo ,cash out the door . After dealing with the finance manager they would not meet our offer. The next day the salesman called to say "It's the end of the month and we will accept your offer. My husband drove across town to make the purchase. When he got there they offered him the same deal as the day before. When he said the salesman had called and said they had accepted his offer , the salesman denined it. Don't do bisiness with these [violative content deleted].

BUYER BEWARE..............

by nomorebull on 03/28/2009

These people will lie to you to get what they want - do not trust them!!! We went through an horrible ordeal - it lasted two weeks. We didn't even go there to seek a vehicle - we were there for a repair and while waiting mentioned we needed a 2nd car -- oh they could do it they said!! They kept saying it. I said I was going to go to a buy here/pay here place as we can't afford another expensive car pmt. They were going to do this "creative financing" for us - told us "Don't go to one of those places, we will make this work for you"......two weeks later they said they couldn't do what they wanted and expected us to accept another very high car pmt. even though they knew we could NOT afford it - kind of the same way the housing crisis started!!! Don't get sucked into this place - you'll be sorry -

Beware

by denises on 05/25/2008

My husband and I called this dealership based on a newspaper ad. He was speaking to the manager there and he asked what it would take to sell us a car. My husband stated that it would take a price of $14,200 out the door. He repeated the "Out the Door" at least three times that I heard. So we decided to go down and talk to them. Well of course the price they were willing to give us was that, but not as an out the door price, it was plus tax, tag, title and dealer fee, and we all know how much that adds up to. My husband told him, you said on the phone you could match this price, and conveniently he misunderstood, and didn't realize he meant out the door. Bull!! I heard it myself and know what he said, that was not true. Why do these dealer think they are doing themselves any good by lying to people? They lost our business and we will never go back. Wound up with a Ford Focus from [violative content deleted] and had the most awesome car buying experience.
