Great place to purchase a new vehicle.

by joe1239 on 08/09/2016

It's been a while since my wife and I had to purchase a new vehicle. So we were a little apprehensive about going through the car buying process. We decided to go to Toyota of Stamford just because my wife works in the area, and it would be convenient for her to get the car serviced where we purchased it.To our good fortune we met sales associate Leila Keklik, who from the beginning made sure we were not only comfortable but, treated us like family. She was able to get us exactly what we wanted, and a little more for a price we were very happy with. Would I go back? Leila and Toyota of Stamford have us as customers for life... Thanks

Excellent experience

by JAK1997 on 07/30/2016

I contacted multiple Toyota dealerships and Steve Sentementes was the only one that was truly transparent. He was a pleasure to deal with, I was in my car the next day.

Thank you Andrew!

by Lello17 on 06/21/2016

My wife Amy and I had a very positive experience with Andrew Pawlowski at Stamford Toyota. Andrew was warm and funny, definitely has a personal touch. He was extremely efficient and knowledgeable when showing us the new Rav4, and gave a thorough presentation which allowed us time to ask all our questions.

Top quality dealership

by red1949 on 03/21/2016

Toyota of Stamford's attention to customer service was outstanding throughout the process of purchasing my new vehicle and trading in my old one. Salesman Steve De Felice and General Manager John Linn were especially helpful, as there were issues with my old vehicle which they dealt with fairly, honestly, and promptly. I could not have asked for more. Good job Toyota of Stamford!

Great buying experience!!!

by Sullie519 on 07/29/2014

What a pleasure it was dealing with the team at Toyota of Stamford. I have poor credit and had some negative equity on a vehicle and Albert worked tirelessly on a plan that would work for me. I am truly great flu for all the hard work they put in and couldn't be happier!

A place to avoid !!!

by user14 on 04/24/2014

Went there after seeing a listing for Toyota Camry priced at $14,995. Called up to confirm if the car was still available - they said it was. This turned out to be just a bait and switch. As soon as I went there (on the same day as I called up), they said - "Sorry, the car seems to be sold". However they (I would call the salesguys "S" and "J" for reference) offered me another camry listed at $16,995 and immediately brought it down to $15,995. All good till here. When I went back after 2 days to finalize the deal, I told them I wasn't interested in buying the extended platinum warranty (7 years, 100k miles) for $1350. All hell broke loose!! The guy "A" who sells the warranty wasn't pleased. "S" said he could talk to the GM to finalize the deal for $15,995 but "A" won't let him. He kept meddling in our talks with "S" - kept saying that the car was more worth than $15,995. Finally "A" proposed that we would get the car for $15995 only if we buy the warranty from him (which is supposed to be optional) else we would have to pay $16,200!!! WTH?? How can they force us to buy an optional warranty and how is it supposed to affect the base price of the car?? We walked out and decided to never go there again - they are the most unprofessional salespeople I have even come across!!

New RAV4

by basia2159 on 03/28/2014

We are a Toyota Family and I was overdue for a new car. I had a Toyota Camry 2002 which I was very pleased with. Toyota stands by their name. I never had any large expenses on the car. I was shopping around different Toyota dealers in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. Toyota of Stamford was the best. I knew what I was looking for a Toyota RAV 4 Black Limited with beige interior. They worked with me and they gave me the best trade in for my Camry. I did everything online with the Chat mode. Then I went into the dealership and they were sooooo pleasant and NO pressure. They explained everything walked me through. I would recommend this dealership especially the salesman Andrew. He is so caring and made several recommendations which was greatly appreciated. I Love my new Toyota. Thank you

Toyota Of Stamford - Bad Experience

by Bob12345 on 11/18/2013

In fall 2013, my wife and I bought a used sedan at Toyota of Stamford and had a bad experience. Here’s a few of the things that happened:

When we were filling out paperwork for the loan, my wife and I noticed the price was listed as higher than when verbally quoted, so we questioned it. We didn't have a bad attitude about it, we just said we thought we were quoted a lower number. One of the salespeople got very rude and snapped at us about the price. I admit, it's totally possible that both my wife and I heard the price wrong...and it's equally as possible that they accidentally said the price wrong when it was first mentioned. I'm not sure if this was all a misunderstanding, or if the price swap was intentional, but either way, it gave us both a negative feeling.

Then, we waited a LONG time for the loan approval to be finalized. The wait wasn't 100% the fault of the Toyota of Stamford employees, as they were simply waiting for the results after they submitted them, but we waited for over an hour, when at other dealerships, we were approved in literally minutes. It wasn't until a few days later that we realized the dealership ran our credit TWICE. Anyone that keeps track of their credit will know that every "hard inquiry" will lower your credit score and they never told us they were doing that. Both the wait and the double run of our credit were disappointing.

After purchasing the car, I went over the paperwork and found nothing that backed up their money back guarantee on the extended warranty: When we were buying the car, they said if we purchased the extended warranty and didn't use it, we'd get all of the money back after the warranty period was up. I called Toyota's main customer service, who said that guarantee doesn't exist. I asked if they could cancel the extended warranty and refund my money. They said they could, however the money would be taken from the last few payments of the loan; They couldn’t write me a check for the amount and they couldn’t re-do the loan (minus the money from the warranty) and lower our payments. That’s not at all what we wanted, so I asked to file a complaint.

The next day a manager from Toyota Of Stamford called and claimed that the money back guarantee was from the local dealer itself, not Toyota corporate. The manager said I must have not received the correct paperwork and it would be mailed to me. The "paperwork" arrived two days later. It was simply an invoice that had the words "MONEY BACK EXP 08-07-2019" highlighted. That isn't even remotely adequate as proof of a warranty, or explanation of how the guarantee works. I’m still not sure what I should do about it.

At this point, I've driven about 2000 miles since purchasing. 99% of the travel is highway mileage and I get about 29mpg. Toyota claims that car is supposed to get 37mpg on the highway (not the dealership’s fault, but still worth mentioning).

There were quite a few other negative things that happened during our experience, but this review site doesn’t allow for long reviews. You’ll just have to trust that I’d NEVER waste my time writing a bad review if only a few things went wrong.

In conclusion, this was all my fault, as I should have left the dealership after the price discussion. I was just sick of car shopping and wanted it all to be over. I hope if anyone was planning on buying a car from Toyota of Stamford, they’ll read about my experience and know what to expect. Other than the gas mileage, the car is fine, so if you feel the need to shop there, just remember to be explicit about how you’d like your credit run and get everything they promise you in writing from the time you walk in until the time you sign the final paperwork (or just go to a different Toyota dealer).

Professional Sales & Service

by skarakasidis on 01/30/2012

I purchased a 2011 Toyota Corolla from this dealer in January 2012. I entered the quote on Edmunds and was contacted by a few dealers, but felt they would not offer a quote online or over the phone. Having leased a 2011 Toyota Venza from the same dealership in May 2011, I found the purchasing process to be quite pleasurable and non-taxing, So I went back when I needed to purchase the 2011 Corolla. The decision was made easier when I needed to take the Venza into the dealership for the first service. I made an appointment and the process again was very pleasurable. For the 2011 Corolla, I dealt directly with the same salesperson from whom I leased the 2011 Venza (Derek Kotarowski). Derek was upfront, honest and took the time to explain the pricing and options I was interested in getting on the 2011 Corolla. .
