Two Lemons Purchased Here

by Julia_S on 04/04/2017

I first purchased a used vehicle from Davidson-Gebhardt Cheverolet's Subaru of Loveland dealership in October 2016. The dealership agreed to fix the heater, a passenger's seatbelt, a sunroof motor and a sunshade bracket in the 2004 Nissan Morano. It was almost two months from the time of purchase before I recieved the car. The first dealer I worked with, Pat, did not provide me with updates, was hard to get a hold of, and snapped at me when I expressed my frustration at not being in the know about the status of my vehicle (I was told that I could go pick up my car from the third party service shop and pay for the work myself). I was passed on to the general manager, Chris, who was apologetic about his employee's behavior, and provided me a borrowed dealership car to use until my car was presented to me. I repeatedly expressed my gratitude for this service as I'm a single mom and had no other vehicle (my previous car was totaled by an uninsured driver) and I was put into a difficult situation having to wait much longer than expected to drive away with the vehicle I had purchased. When I did receive my car, it died due to a failed alternator, while driving on the highway, within two weeks of driving off the Subaru lot. The heater was also still not working for the two weeks I drove the vehicle, despite that the radiator had been replaced - I was told. (It was winter, with daytime temperatures reaching as low as single digits and I had to wrap my children in blankets to ride in our car.) I contacted the Nissan service shop and spoke with the service manager who informed me that they had recommended a radiator replacement to the Subaru dealership, but the dealership only approved a radiator flush (which was attempted two times as it did not fix the issue). Again, please note that I was told by the dealership that it had been replaced. I contacted the Subaru GM and he agreed to pay for the alternator replacement and let me trade the vehicle back in. He said he would look into having the vehicle towed to his service shop and repaired. After several days, and having not heard from Chris, I reached back out to him and to the car service shop where my vehicle was located several hours away. The car shop told me that the work was done and I could come pick up the vehicle. When the Subaru GM, Chris, returned my calls, he told me he had changed his mind about letting me trade back the vehicle. I insisted, as I did not trust the quality of the vehicle as it had been described to me (especially after learning that the radiator had not been replaced as I had been told). Prior to this, I had a enjoyable working relationship with Chris. At this point Chris raised his voice at me and began telling me that there was "no pleasing" me, and I was ungrateful for all the "bending over backwards" they had done to make me happy. He continued, unprofessionally, to tell me that he had no legal obligation to fix the radiator or take the car back (this is true) and that if I wanted a car without "issues" I should buy a new car. I did not raise my voice back at Chris or insult him, but I did insist that he take the car back. Eventually he agreed to this. Chris never spoke to me again, although I went on to trade the vehicle back and upgrade for a newer vehicle. I saw Chris three more times at the dealership during this process, and each time he would turn around and walk the other direction - refusing to greet me or shake my hand. (Even if Chris did not enjoy working with me, I believe this behavior is not reflective of the maturity required of a general manager, especially taking into account that I was always respectful in my words and tone to Chris and his employees regardless of my ongoing frustrations with the circumstances and service provided.) I was contacted by the dealership's newly hired dealer, Rich, to complete the trade. Rich was very nice, and stayed in frequent contact during the two weeks I worked with him. Unfortunately the newer used vehicle I purchased through Subaru of Loveland (a 2011 Subaru Forrester) threw two rods through its engine within two months of driving it off the lot. This required a complete engine replacement (an approximately $6000 repair). Subaru of Loveland will currently not contact me back. I purchased this vehicle, paid outright, in January 2017 and four months later I still have not received the title for the car, though I have left several voicemails with this department (specifically Denise). I was sold an $8000 car and $11,000 car - both of which did not run longer than two months after purchase without major repairs. Subaru of Loveland is not legally obligated to - as the GM informed me, the Lemon Law only applies to new cars. However, I would not recommend purchasing a vehicle from a dealership who stands firm in it's legal right to not do "the right thing" per its customers. It can be assumed that a used vehicle with a large price tag would be a running vehicle. I was not treated professionally. I was told I was a problem customer because I was requesting a vehicle that ran, I was requesting repairs in a timely fashion, and I was requesting good communication. If you are in the market to buy, I would highly recommend purchasing a vehicle from a different dealership than Subaru of Loveland. My experience with them has been a nightmare.

Top notch dealership

by rkymtnhi on 07/15/2012

I have purchased enough new cars in my time to know a difference in quality service from a car dealer. These guys are professionals in their knowledge of the product and I never felt pressured in any way. Sales team was humble, friendly and very genuine. I purchased a 2012 Outback 2.5i Limited from them. If the car holds up to the Subaru reputation, I will only go here for another.

Best Car Buying Experience We've Ever Had

by paul2h on 06/08/2011

I shopped several dealers to get the lowest price on a new Subaru Outback. Subaru of Loveland contacted me first and gave me a great price. I went into the dealership with some hesitations because of past experiences at other dealerships. The moment I walked in the door I felt a friendly laid back atmosphere. They had two dogs greeting the customers and everyone was extremely welcoming. I had a great sales experience and their service department has been great too. In the future, I will never step foot into another Subaru dealership. I would drive a longer distance and pay more money to do business with the wonderful staff at Subaru of Loveland. Patti P.

It was a very pleasant experience. They were fast, as well as very nice. This location is not like others because it is low key, there is not a ton of salesman hounding you. They let their dogs run around as well, being an animal lover this was pleasant.I loved the service i recevied and my salesman was great.I will always go back here to buy my cars.I personally worked with the owner, they gave me a great deal!!I would recommend you drive to this location instead of the snotty ones in denver. It was totally worth it.I also love my new car!!

Excellent sales experience

by guyb1 on 09/28/2009

2010 Outback 3.6R limited, paid $260 over invoice. Options included 08 (power moon roof, nav, rear camer etc), 2A and 3B. Dealer in Loveland Colorado. Low key dealership, no hassles, very pleasant experience. Factory ordered as regional supply is exceptionally low. Good price for my trade and bought an extended warranty at good terms also. I posted this on the forum site also but thought I should put it here too. In a little more detail. All the people I met were very personable, including the General Manager and finance officer. I've been in enough dealers where something just seems artificial, not so at Subaru of Loveland. All concerned were willing to work with me on all aspects of the transaction. A very fair price for my trade helped swing the deal. Another dealer had offered me a similar price on the car but wanted to get it back on his end of the trade. That was not going to make me happy, so I ended up in Loveland. I would recommend anyone thinking of buying a Subaru in the Loveland and surrounding area to stop by and have a chat with the staff.
