Great buying experience

by Bettygb on 11/01/2016

Bought my lovely 2007 Subaru from Norfolk in January 2016. I haven't had a single problem with my car so far. I am very pleased with the reasonably great deal I got for my car. Nate, who is courtes and superb in customer service, assisted me and made the whole car buying process easy. I would definitely recommend him and this dealership if you are looking for a used car in great condition. They have great deals and a remarkable customer service.

HORRIBLE [non-permissible content removed]!

by understatement on 04/01/2016

I am writing a review that is long over due. I know it is long, but please, please read it! If you are a smart buyer you will take my review into serious consideration and look around at other sites before giving your business to [non-permissible content removed]! To Norfolk, I am sure I will not remain anonymous and that is ok. This review is well deserved! One year ago, I was in the market for a reliable and safe SUV for the snow. I decided to check out Norfolk because I had a strict budget in mind. Yes, they appear high tech with their iPads, non-pushy and friendly service, and yes, the buying experience was pretty easy. However, in my case, and many others (I know this after the fact), once you drive off the their slimy lot, it all changes! I bought a 2006 SUV, which appeared to be in really good condition. First red flag was 2 days after purchasing the vehicle. I took it in for the emissions test, and it did not pass! Smoke was detected from the back tail pipes. Nothing that I could see or smell at the time. I called Nate immediately; he acted surprised and offered for me to bring it in for them to repair it. I was also promised a car wash and detail, which they would do at the same time. I took my vehicle in, their mechanic screwed things up so badly, causing the vehicle to emit more black smoke, so badly the garage had to practically evacuate! I know this because they sent my car to another auto repair shop to repair their screw up. The repair shop told me the condition it was in when Norfolk brought it in to them and said the car was smoking so badly their garage and parking lot was completely clouded with smoke! Norfolk was responsible, thank goodness, because the repairs were in the ballpark of $2,000! A week later, I am pretty upset for having such trouble with a car I just bought, but finally I get my car back. Second red flag was to find out that everything in my vehicle was missing! I had a few items that were valuable but what really pissed me off is that my $250 sunglasses were missing! I called the repair shop to ask if they had any belonging, their answer was “Nothing was in the vehicle when it arrived to their shop.” So, my next call was to Norfolk, thinking they had my items in a box lying around somewhere since they had detailed the car. Nate said he would ask his technicians. Well, of course the items were never found. You can take a good guess at what likely happened!! In the mix of all this, Nate sold me a vehicle with two keys that did not work as far as keyless entry. I asked him if he would be able to order one for me at his cost. He said, “sure, he can do that!” I get the key, it has to be programmed by a dealer. So, I take it in to the dealer to find out that the key is the wrong model. I was absolutely livid at this point! I ordered a key myself from the dealer, called Nate, explained the situation and he agreed to reimburse me the cost, which was $189.00 if I sent the key back to him. Which I did the same day, Certified mail! I have a receipt saying they received it… and I have never seen the money he promised! Numerous calls to him, his front office is rude and Nate has never returned my calls! Since my review is very lengthy, let me just say that since day 2, the vehicle has been a nightmare and a money pit! In literally just one year, and only driving the car a total of 8,000 miles, I have had to spend several thousands of dollars to keep the car minimally running until just recently the transmission began to fail…. In order to stop the bleeding and get rid of the car, I have to spend many, many, many thousands of dollars, wiping my savings clean to pay off the loan for a vehicle that I can no longer drive! THEY SOLD ME A CAR THAT THEY KNEW WAS A PIECE OF GARBAGE! By far the worst experience I have ever had! There has not been a day that goes by where I do not regret giving them my business. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY BUSINESS!

Nice Sales People, Be Warry the Inventory

by mhmhmhmh on 06/16/2015

The sales person Daniel was great, very helpful and got the brakes fixed (which I pointed out on a test drive) before I purchased the car. However, maybe don't trust the inventory - and definitely get a mechanic to check it before you buy it! I had my car less than a week and a bunch of lights came on (check engine, airbag, cruise flashing, tires) - well turns out my $11K investment is now over $12.5K as it needs a brand new catalytic converter...And that's in the first week. So although they are nice people, I walked away feeling like the hid some major issues from me that are now coming out of my pocket.
