Definitely recommend PLH of Chapel Hills

by SallyH on 06/01/2019

Easy going no pressure sales!! Bubbly blonde person (Colleen?) who greeted us went right to work to find us a salesman even though everyone looked quite busy. Richard R. found us several cars to test drive, listened to what we needed and found a much better deal than a used car by finding us a new one with a better deal. Finance manager was friendly and informative. All around comfortable experience. Had been to the dealership on Motor City Drive and the sales manager was anything but helpful, so it was nice to be greeted and treated with respect. Sally H

Buyer beware.

by BrianBone on 04/22/2018

I reserve the right to adjust this review as these events are unfolding. My mother in law, who suffers from anxiety and bipolar disorder, needed a new vehicle. She had an older Hyundai Accent which required more repairs than the car was worth - she had taken it to Phil Long Hyundai Chapel Hills. Michelle in the service department was excellent - they have treated my mother very well in the past and this time was no exception - they initially worked out a plan to address the highest priority items first, but this was still more than the car was worth and this would have wiped out my MIL's savings. We called on Friday, asked them to hold off, and approached Lee Morin, the Internet Sales Manager, about a new vehicle. Lee is great. Very trustworthy, and treated us with respect, understanding, and care throughout his portion of the process. She settled on a new 2018 Hyundai Accent SE automatic, and Lee handed us off to Eric (didn't get his last name), who I believe was the fast-talking sales manager. He offered a "Colorado Protection Pack" which included window tint, clear mask, and something called the "Pulse Braking System," which is just a modification to the high center mounted brake light to make it flash when you apply the brakes, which the vendor claims attracts attention from distracted drivers and reduces the probability of rear-ended collisions. This, of course, is not supported by any evidence - if it was, then insurance companies would provide discounts and states, if not the federal government, would require them. Neither is the case with our insurance company nor the state of Colorado. Total cost was something like $995. We refused this package. Eric comes back to the table with the final numbers, which includes the Pulse Braking system listed at $399. I called his attention to this and stated we had refused it. "Oh, well, it's already installed on all our vehicles." Ok, we said, but we don't want it so either take it off, or don't charge us for it. He went back up to his sales desk, and came back with a sheet that removed this cost. We accepted the deal, signed all paperwork, and drove the vehicle off the lot. I am a cosigner on the loan. My MIL still needed to provide the title and one set of keys to her trade in (basically scrap at this point), so the next day, Saturday, she drove back to the dealer to give them these things. Mark Ceballos, the finance director, then proceeds to tell her he "got in trouble" for letting the car go without charging for the Pulse braking system, and she needs to re-sign the paperwork at the higher price. She was alone, confused, and anxious, and he clearly implied she couldn't leave until she signed the new paperwork. She signed it, and came to our house practically in tears. I was not present, and I'm still listed as a cosigner, but I have not signed the paperwork for the "new" deal. This is a common tactic that car dealers use to squeeze inexperienced car buyers. It's dishonest and cruel. I have contacted Lee, the original person we dealt with, and have asked for his help in resolving this matter. I will be taking this up with them as soon as they open on Monday. Buyer beware. Do all of your business online before you go into the dealer. Best service I've ever had!

by Colbyproctor on 07/09/2017

I had a 2006 Ford Explorer that was its time to go before making a drive across the states. A friend I work with referred me to Caleb and said he would take great care of my family. Not only did he take are of my family he went above and beyond what we expected and more. This is the most professional experience I've ever had at any dealership I've been too. Our family is now sitting in a 2017 Hyundai Sonata. I couldn't thank Caleb or his manager enough for getting us the awesome deal on the Sonata. Also we re financed our 2013 Kia Sorento with them and it drop our payment and apr a lot! Once again thank y'all ! I will definitely refer anyone who's looking for a new car to Caleb!

Great Buying Experience

by brm on 06/02/2017

The folks at Phil Long Hyundai Chapel Hills made my buying experience enjoyable. Travis knew his stuff and was always on the spot with information about the Genesis. Although I've only driven the G80 for a couple of days, it is a remarkable vehicle. If you like technology, you'll love the Genesis.

OUTSTANDING JOB!

by ronco93 on 05/14/2017

Went in with the intention of looking around and seeing what i can possibly do with my trade. Not even an hour later, i was starting the process of getting into a brand new vehicle. I was kindly taken care of and I love the comfortable atmosphere they provided. Samantha even stayed after hours while we were in financing to make sure everything went smoothly. Definitely 5 stars and I really recommend them.

Most confusing, dishonest car purchase ever

by bfarrow on 04/19/2017

I went to Phil Long Hyundai on Monday, January 30th to buy a new car. Joyce, their internet salesperson, was very helpful throughout the process. They came back with reasonable financing, and Dave, the sales manager, offered me a fair deal for my trade-in (a Chevy Silverado). I signed the contract and I left the dealership with the car I wanted the same day. I was happy with my service for the first few days after purchase. The nightmare began three days later on Thursday, February 2nd. Marc, their general sales manager, called me in the morning and said they had an offer to purchase the truck I traded in, but the customer pulled up the CarFax report and said it showed frame damage. Therefore, they'd need to cancel my deal since they couldn't sell the truck. I asked if I could have some time to review my options because this seemed very strange. I bought the truck after my previous car, a Hyundai Accent, had been totaled after hitting a deer at 60 mph. I had the truck examined by a mechanic who is a family friend, and he gave it a perfect grade after a thorough examination. There's no way he would have cleared it if there were frame damage. Marc said that didn't matter, CarFax reported frame damage, but he offered to call back a few hours later with new financing options. This sounded extremely weird to me, since my dad worked in the car business for nearly 20 years, and looking up a car's history was one of the first things dealerships do. I called my dad, asked him what he thought, and he said he never heard of a dealership doing anything like that. Any competent dealership would pull up a car's history in its first 15 minutes, which made it seem like a scam, although that would be very strange from a dealership as large as Phil Long. Marc called more than 24 hours after he said he would, and read me his proposed financing terms. He claimed that he couldn't sell the truck, but he had called dealerships in the area and tried to get the best offer for my truck if I still wanted to trade it in, but the best they could do was over $8,000 less than the amount on the purchase contract. This worked out to $50-$100 more per month, and one of the options required an extra year of payments. I asked him what allowed them to cancel our signed contract, and he claimed that any frame damage must be disclosed. I asked him to send me evidence of frame damage, and he sent me a photo of a CarFax report which listed "structural damage" under a previous owner. He sent me a photo of a trade-in evaluation where I said that I had no knowledge of frame damage, and implied that I lied to them, so the deal was off. I told him I was going to have an attorney look into the contract, and would contact him after that. Thirty minutes later, while still researching this new info, Marc left a voicemail claiming that he and the general manager of the store called the dealership where I purchased the truck, and they said I signed a waiver stating the truck had frame damage. I had never seen that paperwork or signed anything like it, so I called that dealership, spoke with the head of their records department, and they sent me copies of all the paperwork for the deal, none of which had any such waiver. Also, they confirmed that no one had ever called them about the truck I traded in. So one dealership was lying to me, although Phil Long seemed much less credible throughout the process. Marc called me from the dealership again on Monday, February 6th, and left a voicemail stating that he needed to resolve this in the next 24 hours. Later that night, the general manager, Riley, called me from his personal cell phone and offered to help fix the deal. He claimed that they couldn't take the truck since it was a salvage title due to frame damage. I told him that I had looked up the title, and it was a clean title. CarFax reported it was a clean title, and Marc, his assistant, said it was a clean title in a previous call. He claimed those were all technicalities, because the damage means it's a salvage title regardless of what the physical title says. When I pressed him about this in a follow-up email, he backed down, presumably knowing that it isn't smart to lie in writing. I also asked him for evidence of frame damage, and he once again sent me the CarFax report. The next day, February 6th, I sent an email asking for physical evidence of frame damage. They had possession of the truck for over a week at this point, and they hadn't given me any proof. He replied and said he would send it to the Phil Long Collision Center on Wednesday morning. Not the most objective party, but at least it was something. I haven't heard from Riley or Marc since then, so I can only assume that even their own body shop cleared the truck. As evidence of that, I received an email from Hyundai on Thursday, February 9th, congratulating me on my purchase. Overall, I'm still confused as to what Phil Long was trying to accomplish, but they seemed more dishonest than every other dealership I've worked with, so I can't recommend this place unless you're an attorney or you bring your own.

2017 Elantra

by GaelicHyundai on 12/15/2016

Sales representative was great! She worked hard to get us the price we found Acceptable. However, the process did take us 7 hours to finalize the deal, mainly waiting 4 of those hours waiting on the financing office. There was a misunderstanding with the finance officer when explaining the extended warranty options. That said, we were able to come to a satisfactory resolution.

No pressure

by tntshaffer on 01/04/2016

Staff was great in that they allowed us to take our time, test drive several cars (Tuscon Limited, Santa Fe Sport, Santa Fe Sport 2.0T) and on extended test drives. They were able to match a Denver dealership's TrueCar price quote we received. Before making final decision I as able to talk to service department and inquire about some posts I have read on forums and get answers to my questions on the spot pertaining to the vehicle I was interested in. They all were very personable and friendly to deal with. I highly recommend them!!!!!

Thank You - Phil Long Hyundai

by 2015_Ruth on 11/24/2015

This is the 3rd car that I've purchased from Phil Long. In 2002, 2009 and last week, the 2015 Sonata. Great experience! I made inquiries thru the internet (Nadine B). She was very responsive and considerate of my time. Dave Britton helped me with the sales process. Explained everything! Including the various options. No high pressure and total product knowledge! It was a pleasure to do business with Dave, Nadine and Kenny!

Poor customer service

by bcssspray on 11/24/2015

I give 1 star, only because there is no other option and in their defense, we did receive a product or service in the transaction, however difficult it may have been. Our experience with the sales department has been the worst experience we've ever had. We've had our Hyundai in to the service department and dealt with a very professional service advisor (will not mention his name with this negative review out of respect for him), and we thought we'd give the sales department a chance. It started with the harassing emails/texts from a sales woman (forget the name) after we brought our Hyundai in for service. Terrible tactics. Then against my best judgment, we visited the dealership. Asked for the woman who sent the unsolicited emails, she was busy, so Travis began helping us. At first he seemed okay, until time went on we found out how unprofessional he was. We were interested in two vehicles, Drove the first and it was okay, a Honda sells itself. The second vehicle was located at another Phil Long dealership. You would think, same ownership, things would be easy, well, not so much. They had the vehicle brought over for us to test drive. It was a used vehicle with high mileage so I understand everything that goes with that. Firstly, during the road test I heard a clunking noise from the engine compartment, Travis rudely told me it was a used car. Secondly, the next rude individual we had the displeasure of dealing with was the desk manager, he would not commit to an inspection of the vehicle for us before we purchased because if we decided not to buy for whatever reason, they would be out the cost of the inspection. How's that for customer service? The only decent service we received there was from one of the sales managers. He explained that due to our credit they would shop our package for the best deal, understandable. The next day we were told it was approved, but the payment was substantially more, then when my wife went in to sign, they surprised her and asked for a much higher down payment than we agreed and they never mentioned to before she arrived. More terrible tactics. We finally decided to go with the original vehicle we drove. My wife signed the finance package and the finance manager for some reason did not provide her with a copy of the paperwork. They told her they would mail, we still haven't received it. Very suspicious behavior. Why no paperwork at time of transaction? Leads me to believe that they are hiding something. My wife drove the vehicle home and discovered they did not clean the sales stickers off the inside of the windows before delivery and the tpms light was on. Keep in mind, the tpms light is considered a safety item by the NHTSA. Travis said he would pick the vehicle up from us at 8:30 am, my wife had to call him, he said he was in a meeting, and never called her to tell her. Nice communication. Two other things before I continue. When wife signed the finance paperwork, she requested information on an extended warranty, they did not provide and said someone would call. They did not. She also called the finance department several times with no response. Both my wife and I called, texted, and emailed Travis multiple times with no response. It wasn't until she contacted the GSM that he began responding to her. He to this day, has never responded to my multiple forms of communication. Terrible communication. Travis finally picked up the vehicle and they cleaned all but one sticker from the inside windows and checked the tire pressure. Tire pressure was good as we already knew. They told my wife they were not repairing the tpms light. It was not until my wife talked to the GSM did he offer to pay for the tpms light repair, and even then I had to go to the Honda dealer and pick up the part and a technician at my wife's work had to replace the part. Terrible customer service. My wife gave them the receipt for the part, they told her they were cutting us a check, still no check a few days later after we provided receipt. Terrible customer service. After my wife spoke to the GSM, only did she speak to someone from the finance department and they finally explained why there was no extended warranty offered at time of sale.

Phil Long Hyundai - - Ben Ohman was Superb!

by carkrut on 11/23/2015

First time I've ever been inclined to write a review of a dealership or salesperson but I must say that our experience purchasing from Phil Long Hyundai and, in particular, Ben Ohman was outstanding! Ben "gets it" when it comes to understanding what the customer needs, respecting our time, and working tirelessly to find the absolute best fit possible. We will buy another Hyundai from this dealership in the future as long as Ben is there...he is the best selling point by far!
