Shady- Beware of the fine print and switching sales people

by John Sturdevant on 10/08/2023

Beware of the fine print. Internet advertised prices are not honored. They will charge you for air in your tires, seriously. I negotiated the price of a used car before going to the dealership and then they switched sales people on me and said they made a mistake and gave me the price of another vehicle on the lot. Then, I asked what the price of the advertised $51,754 car that I wanted would be and they said $65,000 !!! They said read the fine print, the internet prices do not include dealer addd accessories - like nitrogen in your tires and other items that you do not need and can be removed from the vehicle in 1 minute. They are the epitome of what what gives car dealers a bad rap. I encourage you to skip this franchise and go elsewhere.

Unprofessional and dishonest!! Avoid this place.

by Kathy on 04/30/2021

Monday, 04/26/21, morning I drove an hour and a half to the dealership to test drive a 2018 jeep wrangler Sahara that I intended to purchase. It was listed on car gurus for $37,000. I asked the salesman Andrew if they would be willing to lower the sale price since it had been sitting for approximately 70 days. He states he has to talk to the manager. As I had to leave, Andrew, explain to me that we can do all the paperwork over the Internet or phone prior to me coming back. He would text me or call me with the total out the door price. I informed him I was willing to put $17,000 down. No return phone calls. I called and got him on the phone. Andrew states manager would not decrease the price and will get back to me with out the door price as I informed him I am wanting to purchase. Still no call back yet. I called twice AND texted twice. He responded 2 days later stating he was on his way to work and would get back to me. Never did. I then called and spoke to a representative, Albert, who reassured me that he would get the out the door price for me as I am ready to purchase. I texted him twice, called twice and still no return phone call, voicemail no longer accepting messages. It is now Thursday, still have not heard from anyone. I decided to keep looking over the internet for any additional used car and what do I see? The car is now listed for $41,000.

Terrible Dealership - Masters of Bait and Switch

by Unhappy Buyer on 04/01/2021

I went to this dealership because I wanted to buy my father a car. It should have been a simple straight forward deal, because they had the car I wanted with an advertised price of $22,639. The car had been advertised for that price since Febuary 20, 2021. However, as soon as I got there, they insisted the car could not be purchased at the advertised price. Josh (some form of unprofessional sales manager/salesperson) insisted that I had to purchase nearly $4,000 worth of useless dealer add-ons (because I need them to fill the tires with nitrogen for $500 extra dollars). When I insisted that they sell it to me for the advertised price (required by law), Josh said that he couldn't, and said he wouldn't sell it to me for less than $26,000 with the add-ons. I left the dealership to run back to work, and told them I wanted the car for the advertised price. About an hour later, Josh called and said we had a deal with no dealer add-ons. However, when I was on my way back, Josh called and said he was back at $26,000. Since it was Friday evening, I gave up, deciding to deal with it on Monday. During the weekend, I received several text messages and a phone call from another salesman (Walid). I told him I would immediately buy the car at the advertised price. He seemed interested in the sale, but said the dealer wanted to make more money on the deal. I told him I would pay the advertised price (in fact I offered $1000 more, just to get the deal done), but that I wouldn't pay for thousands of dollars worth of worthless dealer add-ons. Whalid stopped responding, so I went back to the dealership on Monday. I showed Whalid the vehicle's advertised price was $22,639 for at least a month on the internet. And I showed him the ad from Friday with the same advertised price. He went to talk to a 'Manager', and came back to tell me that the 'new' advertised price was $24,941. So....suddenly, after it didn't sell for a month, they raised the price $2302 over the weekend? That seemed unusual, as I had driven the car over from the storage lot on Friday, and tried to buy it.....for the advertised price. Sounds a little like bait and switch. I told Whalid the advertised price on Friday was $22639, and they had refused to sell it to me for the advertised price. I told him that was illegal, and showed him all the proof. I even gave him the deal sheet number that the salesman on Friday had probably 'accidentally' text me (they are probably discouraged from providing written evidence when they break the law). Whalid took all this information to the 'Manager', who still refused to honor the advertised price. I needed to buy my father a car, so we haggled until I was too annoyed to care, and ended up paying somewhere near $1000 more than the advertised price. Per the California Vehicle Code Section 11713.1(e) (and Section 260.04(b)), dealers are prohibited from selling the advertised vehicles for more than the advertised price. Cut and dry. So if you see an add that says "Westbrook Price", don't believe it. Better yet, just don't shop there. I buy a new car every 2 years, and I am very good at not playing their games. So unless you are better than me at the game this place wants to play, you will get screwed out of way more money than you expect. As for me, I will pursue legal recourse. It isn't fair for you (or your grandmother) to walk into a place like this, and be conned out of thousands of extra dollars, because they don't know the law is on their side.

Very Shady / Missleading sales tatics

by Gary on 08/05/2020

Very shady (seemingly illegal) sales tactics. Promised an advertised price inclusive of rebates and discounts...then force you to purchase tire, paint, theft insurance plans. If you refuse the plans you get 0 rebates/ discounts on the vehicle (even though the cost of the plans only account for about 15 percent of the total vehicle discounts). Then they apply the cost of the plans against the amount of discounts ...raising your net cost...if thats not bad enough, they charge you for the cost of the plans again as 'extras'. Sold me a car with no floor mats, keys, warranty/service/ manual or fuel (said they would mail them...3 weeks ago). I had to get RAM customer service involved and even they can't get the dealership to respond to them. Read the other reviews that experienced the same dishonest tactics. STAY AWAY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP

Terrible service and very poor management

by Salzy7 on 04/21/2020

Following up on my review from last year of Russell Westbrook Chrysler Jeep. They are horrible and cause more problems than they repair. I was there last year and had a new Sensor put into my tire because 1 was defective. Well not only did they put a new sensor in they NEVER took out the defective one. They just punched it through and left it in the tire to damage my brand new tires that I got 1 week before bringing it in for service. I went to America's Tire whom I highly recommend to rotate tires every 5000 miles. Upon rotating them they heard a noise coming from the tire. They notified me and I watched them take apart the tire from the rim and thats when we noticed a sensor floating around in the tire plus the new one that the Russell Westbrook service department replaced was still in tact. I took pictures and called both Mike the service manager 3 times and Vikas the general manager. No response then Mike decided to call 2 days after leaving messages. I explained problem last week and neither has still gotten back to me. I emailed them the pictures as well so they can see the sensor, the new sensor still in tact and the damage that was done. Vikas still ignoring and Mike I left a message yesterday to follow up again and no response. They have no quality control and are not a reputable dealership. Too bad the superstar himself Russell Westbrook would never know how horrible is dealership is. I would never recommend this place.

Lack Transparency to Get You Back In The Door

by Jake on 01/15/2019

I had a seemingly great experience with one salesman who worked to get me a deal on a Jeep Cherokee so that I could put money down and afford the car. However, he handed me off to another salesman who offered me the same deal via text to get me to come to the dealership that day. I agreed to the deal but before coming back I specifically asked him two questions: 1. Did the rate he was offering on the lease extend the length of the lease or change the mileage package? 2. Was the interior of the Jeep Black or Grey? He intentionally only replied to my question about the interior and ignored the other question to get me to come back to the dealership and con me into signing a longer lease with a significantly smaller mileage per year. I understood that the lower rate was due to the change in length and mileage but I did not appreciate him not disclosing this information to me before I came back to the dealership simply because he knew I would pass on the deal if those two components had changed. I felt lied to and got excited about signing that day only to find out the deal was not what we had discussed. I appreciate the deals this dealership has to offer, but their approach to getting you to sign is misleading. I would not trust them moving forward with a lease or financed car. Too sketchy.

Thanks to Jaden, Martin & Eric

by JBM on 07/29/2018

I recently purchased a used 2015 Hyundai Azera at the Van Nuys Facility. The sales people (Jaden & Martin) were professional and respectful. We were able to negotiate a fair deal and agreement the same afternoon without a great deal of back and forth. We left happy and satisfied. Update...Two (2) days later, the vehicle would not start after being garaged and sitting without being driven for approximately 36 hours. I contacted the dealership and spoke to Eric Nelson, Used Car Manager who helped guide me through a few options I had not considered. As he was correct, I notified AAA to jump-start the vehicle and drove it to the dealership. They met me upon my entry and promptly replaced the dead battery with a new one. My wife and I were quite pleased and gratified of the prompt service and courtesy we were shown.

They keep their promise!

by roscomare on 05/02/2018

I can’t say enough good things about this dealership! First of all, I was interested in another company and car, but they promised me a price that at the end they could not deliver so I was very bitter from that experience. My husband and I did our research on the Pacifica and figured that we could only afford the LX model. So, I called around and got the best price in LA which is far from me, so we decided to go to Russell Westbrook to test drive the car and see if it was even worth driving out to LA. We met Daniel he was really nice and let us test drive the LX model, we really didn’t like the fact that it had NO power doors! I mean it’s a minivan the main reason for a minivan is the power sliding doors. He told us that the next model up had the power sliding door, but I knew I couldn’t afford it. Daniel realized that this was the main issue and asked me if he could keep the monthly price about the same would I be interested in the Touring Plus model? Of course I would be interested but I knew that was impossible because I did my research and I knew the price wouldn’t make any sense to them. Sure, enough he brought the TP model and it was great, had everything we needed. Next step he went to his manager and came back with a price that was only $15 more than the LX model. I couldn’t believe that I could have gotten such a great price! Finally, a dealership that keeps its promise!!! I highly recommend this place!

Horrible!

by Marsha on 03/21/2018

ABSOLITELY DISGUSTING!!! went to the dealer ship on Sunday. We were dealing with Edwin and Enrique. The car that we test drove was great we loved it and so we decided to talk numbers. The deal wasn't what we were looking for so we decided to go for the same car just a few less features, for which they gave an okay deal 36 mo/10k 1500 down and 475 monthly. We ended up walking away from it anyway. The next day, Monday, Enrique called me back and asked of we are still interested I said in the first car we were interested in, the white one, he said he will work on it and let me know. He didn't even bother calling me back. We already moved on and had a deal in progress with another dealership. Today, Tuesday, I got a call from Dustin the manager at this dealership, who wanted to sell me the car we wanted, he called me and told me 36mo/12k miles per year, $1000 down and $531 a month, I asked him if he can do any better he said he will try. Didn't get a call back so I called myself and got Andy Cortez who said he will help me since Dustin was busy. Andy called me back within about 1 hour and clearly said he cannot do the white car but the other car we were looking at he can do better. He called back again and clearly said I can do the the other car for 1000 down and he was between 480-490, at which point I said ok I'm coming pull the car up I'd like to see it again. We came Edwin (the original salesperson) had the car ready for us and we liked it and were ready to see the deal promised between 480-490. The deal I get presented is $512 a month. Now my math is pretty good and I don't see that those numbers are between 480 and 490. So I went directly to Andy and said hey this is now what we talked about and not what you said you are able to do. Again I get the runaround of well you know we already discounted blah blah blah. I say no work on it again but you clearly said between 480 and 490. He sarted arguing with me and said no i said 490ish. The next deal I get is $499.13. At this point I'm furious because I'm being taken for a fool. Edwin is now raising his voice at my husband who is telling him we drove down here for 480 490 not 499 and this is a waste of time and you guys are screwing us. Again I get the runaround of we already discounted and we want to make it work but we can't do anymore. Which is fine if you can't then you can't but don't call me and promise me nuumbers you can't do. I'm am very upset and just disgusted by this situation. It was handled very poorly on their part. They made me feel like an idiot telling me no I said I'm between 480 and 490ish well to me that is still not 512 or 499. There was no reason for me to waste my time coming down there and not get what I was told I would.

Great Dealer in LA - No Games

by ddbig67 on 02/10/2018

Solid Dealer in LA - No Games - Except for the Basketball Court in the Lobby Everyone at the dealership we're top notch. First my first contact via email (Dustin) and handling the negotiation via email to walking on to the floor and confirming our negotiation, to then working with your finance manager (Justin), was quick and did a great job answering any questions I had. ALSO I gotta gave mad props to your sales person, he went above and beyond to help deliver the vehicle and follow me back to my home. Which on a Friday Night from Van Nuys was about 2 1/2 hours travel time to my home and probably another 2 hours for him to get back. As a new kid in the car business he is off to a good start understanding what service is about. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.... Definitely will reach out when it's time to buy a Hell Cat!!!

Top Notch Service from A-Z! I am always happy with Westbrook!

by Jessyca_Nygren on 02/02/2018

I love my service advisor Terry Córdoba & my fabulous technician Zoran & his crew of specialists. I like the new energy & efficiency at the dealership since Westbrook took over. I’ve bought 5 new vehicles there at Van Nuys over past 15 years. Still have my 2006 Jeep Commander & enjoy my Convertible 200. The associated body shop next door & Alex Sanchez are awesome too.

Horrible Treatment of Women

by Silverwheel on 01/29/2018

Dear potential customers who happens to be female, it's my advice that you find another dealership to take your business to. I took a lease several years ago with the previous dealership before it was purchased by Russell Westbrook. Since then, I have noticed that the sales team won't communicate in order to actually progress my account. They virtually ignored me and I believe they treat me that was because I am a single woman, my business seems to have no value to them. Here is what happened when I tried to purchase my lease. I am at 29k of 36k lease, the Jeep is in great shape, my credit is excellent. They called me only after I reached out to inquire about next steps, there was no one following up or reaching out to see how my experience has been. I made an appointment after calling to set one, Reggie took my info told me to hold an came back to tell me I was in the VIP Program and would only need to tell the first rep I encountered of my appointment and confirmation number. I arrived, I tried to tell 3 people why I was there, offering my confirmation number to all 3, no one even looked at my number. They all persisted to push me on a sales person to show me new cars escorting me to the lot, when I had an appointment to discuss my purchasing my lease. Reggie the appointment setter told me all my info would already be assembled and they would be waiting for me with all my best options No one knew who I was and no one bothered to listen to why I was there, they all had their own agenda of pushing me out the door to look at new cars. I'm not kidding, I had to tell me story 4 times before someone could start a process with me that actually pertained to my existing account, after I had been assured that would already be done. When I objected and asked why no one would pay attention to why I was there, I was offered water or coffee. After negotiation for 5 minutes, with me being specific to what I was looking for and feeling like I was being taken advantage of, I was told it's not us it's the lease company. They let me sit out in the open, didn't even take me into a private office as was my experience when dealing with the previous owner. I'm now working with my bank to find my next step. Good luck ladies!

Hoops and Cars

by T_hump_t_hump on 01/20/2018

Thee coolest dealership in LA- first and foremost, they have excellent customer service. Call ahead and make an appointment. They differ from other dealerships in their negotiating. No waiting for a manager to come back with numbers 3 times: just come in with a number in mind and the managers will sit with you (or shoot hoops at the bball court) and work it out verbally with you. I had a tough tough situation with money I owed on my bmw lease turn in and I had almost given up the prospect of leasing a Wrangler- then I came in and they got me the deal that worked with cash left over to pay some of my fees. Overall thrilled! Car buying/leasing is always a somewhat anxious experience- but these guys get it- they're cool, fun to work with, and will put you in the car you want at the price you can handle. Thanks Sergio and Ahmir

The Day I Got My REBEL

by LuisCollazo on 01/19/2018

I ran into an issue with carmax over a vehicle I had ordered the dodge rebel. I left that place upset, I was hiding home but decided to make a stop in Van Nuys in search of a rebel. I saw the Russell Westbrook dealership and decided to stop in and see what they had. I was greeted upon arrival, Derrick was my salesman. I must say hands down he took really good care of me and gave me an experience wanting to come back and purchase from him again. The finance manager also took care of me. Overall was an awesome experience I recommend everyone to come here. I men they even have a basketball court for you to shoot around while you wait! When my truck was all washed and ready for me to take home, my salesman Derrick wasn't pleased he walked up to me an apologized right away. I thought something when wrong, he looks at me and says can you see the smudge on the front windshield? I had no clue what he was talking about. He then proceeded to backup my truck into the sunlight, I still had no idea what he was talking about. He then pointed it out and finally I ws able to see what he was talking about. But it took 10 mins for me to notice something that wasn't a big deal to be. But to be serviced by him that way was just amazing, it really shows how much above and beyond he is willing to go for his clients! I just wanna say thank you Russell Westbrook CDJR you've definitely have earned my membership for years to come.

The Muscle Car I Was Pining For...

by mcbradford5 on 10/22/2017

Salesperson Alen Balikcian was great. Strong sense of urgency to prepare the specific car I was interested in. It was a very unique color, interior, and equipment combination I was seeking - Destroyer Gray Challenger Scat Pack Shaker with Red Leather/Alcantera interior. The car had just arrived and Allen ran around like a man possessed to get it ready for me to see and test drive. Once I drove it, I was hooked! Sales and Finance Managers were also great. Nothing but good things to say about my experience. I drove around all afternoon feeling like I was 17 again! hahaha Thank you, Russell Westbrook CDJR team!

Dishonest and manipulative - Disappointed buyer.

by Belchens on 04/27/2017

I recommend doing your homework very carefully before going to buy anything from them. They are dishonest to the point of absolute lying to your face and exploiting every little lack of knowledge you have. If Dustin Lawler or Mirna Garcia tells you anything about your deal and you're not sure, check with someone who understands leasing and confirm it. You will save a lot of money. I leased to cars at the same weekend from them and keys Lexus in Van nuys, just across the street. Comparison of the lease agreements shows that if I compare the rate Lexus gave me and the rate they on my Dodge ram, they overcharged me 7000$!!!! If you care about your money remember this story when going there.
