BEWARE- Unethical Sales Tactics

by heatherm on 06/21/2017

Buyer BEWARE. This dealership uses strong-arm and below board sales tactics to mislead and deceive buyers. They are unethical in practice and bordering on illegal. I had an appointment with Pati Garcia this evening, following a pre-negotiated price for a new Corolla and value for my trade-in. Pati (and others) were already informed from the first point of contact that I already had financing in place through my credit union, was not interested in an extended warranty or any other add-on package for this purchase. We confirmed everything by phone and email, only to receive an email this afternoon from Pati stating that I would be REQUIRED to complete a credit application in order to take the vehicle home with me. If I did not do that, I would have to wait until my check from Navy Federal Credit Union cleared before they would release the car to me. Needless to say, it is NEVER a requirement to complete an unnecessary credit application when a consumer is not seeking financing though the dealership. It is the responsibility of the dealership to verify funding directly with the financial institution, and prepare the contract according to the agreed upon terms. Pati implied the sale of the vehicle is dependent on completion of the credit application. Big mistake. These tactics are simply unacceptable, and I will be pursuing a resolution to this matter with Toyota, the Better Business Bureau, The California Department of Consumer Affairs, the Attorney General's Office and the FTC. I have been purchasing cars for over 20 years, and this is the lowest I have witnessed a car dealership stoop. Please read all of the other (similar) reviews to mine (on Yelp) and make an informed decision.

In poor taste.....

by RLX88 on 09/04/2014

Story short, my GF and I made a appointment to purchase a Camry. During the sale another sales person wanted the keys to have another client test drive the car she wanted to purchase. After back and forth on the price we finally got a price we agreed only to find out the car was sold to the other person interested. They offered another car with the same features but not in the right color. It left a bitter taste in our mouth and left. The next day a person from Vacaville Toyota called and asked if we were still interested in a Camry........ I said NO and purchased a Camry at another dealer.

Unethical Breach of Contract by Dealer

by swallowtail on 07/14/2013

We had a horrible experience with Toyota of Vacaville. We had accepted an offer and put down a $500 deposit on a Toyota Sienne SE. It was coming from another lot so we had to wait and pick it up the next day. As we were approaching the car lot after rearranging our schedule to make a 1 hour drive from El Dorado Hills, we received a call stating that the car was no longer available and that they sold it to someone else. In case you don't realize - this is a breach of contract. Not only is that unethical, it is also illegal. Yet, I don't have the time or money to spend on a lawyer to sue them for a car that was rightfully and contractually mine. My only recourse are these review websites. Be wary of these people. It's sickening what they did - and how seemingly easy it was for them to completely disregard a contract. It seemed as if it was common practice there and nothing new to them. Anyone willing to do that has no conscience and is not to be trusted.

Buying a Toyota

by cappecan on 01/06/2013

I set out to purchase a safe reliable vehicle, and Toyota of Vacaville did just that. They helped me pick out the right car making sure not to over-sell me or under-sell me on a car. They listened to me, took notes, and showed me the differnt models I might of liked. I liked them all, but decided on a 2012 Toyota Corolla LE. I have had it 6 months now, and love it! Thank you Toyota of Vacaville! :)

Great car buying experience

by hyundai2011 on 01/04/2012

I have bought a Sienna XLE with this dealership on last week of Dec 2011. I highly recommend this dealership. Great service. I spoke with Deborah and mentioned the lowest quote that I had received from another dealer. She told me that I will receive a quote soon from either Dennis (her husband who also works there) or from her. Dennis was able to beat that price and he sent me a quote. When I asked for the details, he promptly responded with the details of the vehicle with all options included, msrp, etc., Then I called Deborah with so many questions and she sincerely responded to all of my questions. (I even asked her the mileage on the vehicle. She walked to the lot immediatley and informed the mileage). Dennis and Deborah are very nice people to deal with. I like their honesty and integrity. No haggling, no non-sense, no tactics at all. It was a very pleasant experience. I think this is the reason lot of people refer them and I could see while I was there that lot of folks were asking for Dennis and Deborah and bought vechicles from them. In fact, one of my friends referred them to me. It took couple of hours for me to purchase the vehicle after I went to the dealership. I didn't negotiate further as I was already given a great price. Deborah brought the vechicle from the lot. I did a test drive and then Dennis explained me almost all the things I need to know to operate the vehicle, navigation, blutooth hands-free phone setup, etc., He collected all my information and then sent me to the finance guy. The finance guy was trying to sell me the extended warranty. But, I was not interested in. I think he was little upset. Surprisingly, he did not push me further. Dennis filled-up the gas and brought the vehcile after installing wheel-locks. The cargo net was not in stock. I was told that it will be sent via mail and I did receive it yesterday. I had some more questions.. He was very happy to answer all of them. My friend also purchased a vechicle from them on the same day and Deborah was helping him. Overall, it was a very nice experience.

Best and easiest car buying experience ever

by hollysf on 03/21/2011

I submitted a quote request via Toyota Vacaville's own website as they were not participating in the Edmunds.com one as of the time of this review. Within an hour I got a very attractively priced quote for exactly the vehicle I said I was interested in (not everyone did this; some other dealerships quoted me a cheaper FWD instead of the AWD I requested). In fact, the price was so good I was a bit skeptical about it, and went there the next day half-expecting to be sold something else. Well I'm happy to say I was totally wrong, Deborah Bruns was completely straightforward and charged me exactly what she quoted. This is the way buying a car should be--it was painless, quick, we were in and out of there within 2 hours with all paperwork completed, financing approved etc., and no one even tried to sell me anything extra (with the exception of offering me the extended warranty). Highly recommended, really wonderful experience and I wish all dealers would deal this way. Quote received was extremely competitive and clearly represented the true lowest price they were willing to entertain, no additional haggling necessary. Thank you Toyota Vacaville.
