The Best

by jjhman1 on 11/14/2016

We bought our 99 Avalon at Freeman and they have done most of the maintenance ever since. the few times we have gone to an independent we have been disappointed. The Freeman service department has done excellent work and given us honest pricing except that they always want to put us on the "extreme service" schedule and plop in gas additives. I forgive them for that because everything else is top notch. We have test driven a number of new and used cars there also. The sales people have been uniformly professional and well informed, with no pressure tactics.

No Sale

by educatedbuy1 on 12/03/2013

After doing all my research on Edmunds.com I knew exactly what I wanted. After being told that there were lots of options and two appointments I found out the car I wanted was in Southern California and it would"cost a little more to order one". During this whole experience I could not get an actual price for what I wanted. I contacted a dealer in So. CA and had the car in two days with an upfront price and out the door costs. I also found that the taxes would be credited to Sonoma County. I think Freeman needs to understand that in this era the customer has all the info at his fingertips on line. Old techniques of car selling won't work anymore.

Good buying experience

by carseacher on 06/30/2013

Unlike the previous reviewers' experience my wife and my buying purchase was quite pleasant. Our salesman, Sebastian, was very considerate and honored his commitments. He was courteous and we felt no pressure during our negotiations. We had done our research on Edmunds and other consumer support websites and bought the Prius at our desired price. Dealing with the finance department was swift and at our terms. The car was prepped and ready when we were and we received excellent instructions from the technical specialist, Josh, on how everything operated. I recommend Freeman Toyota.

Character/Bait & Switch

by yakmancr1 on 05/31/2012

5/31/12-salesman called my daughter to come in with her college degree to verify she qualified for Toyota's $1000 college cash rebate. He stated that it would be honored and would reduce the price quoted on the vehicle windshield. He had stated that she qualified for the special Toyota Finance pricing that was required to purchase the Corolla at the advertised price. I meet her there to assist her in her first purchase of a new car. The salesman was not in, but arranged to have another salesman meet us and complete the paperwork for the purchase earlier in the morning. When we arrived, we were driven or shall I say "run" around the dealer lot looking for the car. We then found out that the car we had agreed to purchase had been sold the night before. We spoke with the Freeman Toyota Sales Manager, Marty, and were told he could not honor the price in fact it was approximately a $1000 more. Our experience was the epitome of most peoples disgust in dealing with automobile dealers. We were so disheveled that we failed to point out that their was another Corolla in front to the dealership wilth a $350 higher price than we were originally quoted on an identically equiped model. By then we simply left as we didn't want to purchase a car from a company that doen't honor their commitments. PS My wife & I purchased an new truck from them about a year ago and I will need a new car in the next year, but I would not purchase another vehicle from Freeman even though I like to buy local and support my community.

rude salesman

by analshopper on 04/23/2011

My wife visited the dealership and was helped by Jeff. I did several follow up phone calls with him to find a hard to find car. He was helpful. We finally decided which car we wanted. I had a preexisting relationship with a more local salesman; (very happily bought 2 cars from him). I called both Jeff and my local salesman and said "give me your best price (+/- invoice.) I will take the best deal, and will not haggle-- best price and done. I got a call from Jeff saying, essentially -take a hike, buy it from the other guy. If I give you a price, the other guy will just undercut my price. That was NOT what I had told him, nor what I intended to do. In the end, Jeff was unprofessional and basically had a tantrum. I had to hang up on him, because he was being rude to me and would not listen to anything I had to say. My wife called him later, and he told him that he wouldn't do business with us. Car salesman are master negotiators and here we have a guy who took his marbles and went home. I will NEVER go to Freeman Toyota (I know this is not fair) because of this one guy. I am used to slick salespeople, but will not tolerate RUDE salespeople!

Less than impressed

by ziggyp on 05/29/2008

I too thought I should give Freeman a chance as they are most local. I've heard horror stories with their salesfolks but thought with enough staff turnover, things might be better... I won't be going back due to having to stand around too long (10 minutes = too long) hoping a sales person would emerge from the back room. When one finally did, though nice enough was only able to tell me in a distracted way after telling me they were 'short staffed' where to find the Scions on the back lot (which I did find). Not exactly creating a compelling environment for me to want to plunk hard earned cash on, and made me assume that my potential business was not important enough. Even if understaffed, one would think there would be an effort to connect more with potential customers. I got vague directions to the back lot, no offer for test drive, no followthrough whatsoever (and I had my Sunday best on! smile).. I don't need my hand held through this process but I do need to see some focus or else I'm outta there. I'll go slightly less local for the better service I know exists..

Horrible service

by dougie85 on 12/31/2007

We were looking for a new 4Runner, knew exactly what we wanted and were pre-approved for the loan, so it was an easy sale. They only had one or two on the lot which weren’t close to the trim we wanted but the salesman claimed it’d be easy to trade with another dealer to get the car here. We agreed on a price, put down a security deposit, and he said he’d call us when he got the car arranged and pick it up either later that day or the next. At that point I guess we must have gotten checked off as a sale and become the lowest priority. When we hadn’t heard anything by the end of the day we called and he hadn’t done anything to get our car but said he’d get on it first thing in the morning. So a little wiser to his motivation, we followed up late the next morning and he still was jerking us around. Finally in the afternoon we had to go down there and get our security deposit back. A short drive down to Marin Toyota got us the 4Runner within a couple of hours (for a lower price). Freeman Toyota has a pretty bad reputation but I thought I’d give them a fair shake since they are the local dealer. It was such an easy sale for them but they just couldn’t be bothered. Now I see why they have such a bad reputation.
