Excellent response to an unusual sale

onMy sincere thanks to San Diego Jeep. I had purchased a new Grand Cherokee Laredo from another dealer and I simply did not like it. The dealer said they couldn't work an upgrade to a (more expensive) Grand Cherokee Limited because there was no Blue Book value yet. I immediately drove to San Diego Jeep and they structured a reasonable deal, I paid and drove home in my Limited (and I love it).

Poor Communication

onThis was my second experience with service at this dealership and I was again very disappointed. Most significant was the complete lack of communication. Establishing the appointment was easy. I had a high pressure diesel fuel pump recall as the primary reason for the visit, as well as a faulty speaker, and rear-end concern. I was told it would likely take a full day. Service advisor didn’t seem to be aware of the notes from when I established my appointment but otherwise, the checkin is smooth a typical. Service advisor said he would keep in touch via text, which was fine, and I did get a text with details of my ride share to get me home. So I know they had my number right. There was no communication day 1. I sent him a message the following morning looking for a status update. No response, so I called and left a voicemail. He called me back and said they were working on my vehicle and it was likely going to be finished by the end of the day. He committed to updating me by end of day. Again, no communication at the end of day 2. So the morning of day 3 I waited until lunch time with no info and had to call him. I got voicemail and he returned my call to let me know it was ready to pickup. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the lack of proactive communication and failure to follow though, to which he apologized. He said there was no issue with my speaker (intermittent problem, so understandable), but they didn’t check the rear-end concern I asked them about. It seems like the limited slip clutches are not grabbing smoothly when accelerating from a stop with the wheel turned to either side and under a load like towing a trailer. First time I had the vehicle in for this issue and they did a rear-end servicing, which helped, but didn’t completely solve the issue. My service advisor took my truck for a drive and said the symptoms are normal. It didn’t do that for the first 6 months I owned it, but okay. My complaint is really that they didn’t look at the issue until I brought it up when I was told the vehicle was ready for me to pick up. I would not recommend this dealership for service.

onPros: SD CDJR always takes good care of my truck. The staff is friendly. They paid for a Lyft to take me from the dealership back home. They offer a military discount (10%). Cons: The cost for labor is a little high. They had my truck for 7 hours for an oil change and fuel filter change. (I have had this service performed in under an hour at other locations.) They said they top off all fluids but didn't fill up my DEF.

onAfter having placed two of my vehicles in service during the Thanksgiving holiday, when my Chrysler Pacifica dashboard light flashed on during this same time period I was desperate. Previously I experienced prompt and courteous service from the San Diego Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram dealership, in Mission Valley located at 777 Camino del Rio S, in San Diego, CA 92108. I made an appointment online and was scheduled for service within the following week. The day of my appointment I was told I could bring in my vehicle earlier if convenient. My vehicle went into service quickly, diagnosed almost immediately, and service complete within twenty-four hours. The vehicle's prognosis could have provided an additional headache, however their in house vehicle warranty team investigated the situation and clarified the available coverage for the repair. Amazing! Out of three different vehicle manufacturers and service locations these guys surpassed them all. Excellent and amazing work.

Never Picks up the Phone

onOrdered a key fab from Parts, handed to service for them to program. They couldn't program it and said it was not a good fab, but that they'd get me a new one. It would take 1-2 weeks. Well it's been 1-2 weeks. I've called a dozen times to see if the new key fab is in. Either I get hung up on, a voicemail, or external hold/ignore. I would have to be desperate to go to this location again.

Shady dealership

onThis is without a doubt the most unethical dealership in existence. On July 3rd we entered into a lease. Prior to leaving the lot it was found that the passenger side seat in the third row was broken and would not fold down. To have a broken component on a brand-new car prior to even driving it off the lot is frustrating to say the least. A due bill was provided to fix the issue. Over the past 6 weeks we have taken the car back to fix the issue twice, both times with the dealership returning the car without a fix. I last spoke with a manager on 7/31, who promised to reach back out with next steps on 8/2. At the time of this review it is now 8/11 without any word back after leaving voicemails on 8/4, 8/7 and 8/8. At this point we are beyond frustrated and feel like we have been tricked by an unethical dealership only motivated to get a quick sale. All of the joy of getting a new car, right before adding a new member to our family, has been taken away. This is a sale gone wrong from before the time we drove the car off the lot and one we do not have the desire to be trapped in for the next 3 years with a company that is looking to screw over its customers. Much of this is documented in text messages, so there isn’t any denying that can be done by the dealership. They are shady beyond belief and deserve to go out of business.

onAwful. dropped off at appointment time Friday 9:30. Needed airconditioning work and some general maintenance service. Not a word from them for days. I called Tuesday late afternoon. Trying to get a hold of someone in service is maddening. Jen (the operator) seems to be never available. Left a message...no call back. Try again, called Jimmy. He was not available. Tried Jen again. No Jen. Called the number for appointments...got someone who forwarded me to Jen. Jen didn't answer. This happened over and over again. I finally resorted to callng sales and having one of them go to service and find someone. I asked why it took 4 days to get a call back. Was told that having an appointment on a certain day didn't mean the car would be looked at that day. Finally after just harassing the service dept I got my car back. Thousands of dollars. They charged me for a smog test that was "incomplete" but never communicated that to me. They wanted to do all sorts of general maintenance because they didn't know what had been done in past. I told them I spent 1400 two years ago ( I have the receipt), they could not find the car in their systems. This dealership is a total mess.
