Turning A Bad to A Good

by robndee5 on 06/30/2018

After a Rocky Start, Bernard Bryant and Silvia R. have really turned me around. They delivered when they said they would, at the price, quickly and with the utmost Professionalism. Highly Recommend them and their Dealership.

AWESOME experience with our 2018 Sienna Purchase

by Sienna2018 on 03/26/2018

We purchased a 2018 Toyota Sienna from Toyota of Poway and were very impressed with the outstanding service, professionalism and care that Rob McCallister provided our family! Rob did not pressure us into making a purchase immediately or same day as most dealerships do. He found us exactly what we were looking for and although my wife said she wanted to think about it he said no problem and held the vehicle for us. Even though it took us a few days to make up our mind, Rob patiently waited and touched base with us to answer any questions. We were so impressed with him we returned and made our purchase. Rob ensured we received the best price. Although it has been a couple of months since our purchase, Rob calls and checks in to see if we have any questions and offers his expertise on anything about our new Sienna. If you are in the market for a new Toyota see Rob McCallister at Toyota of Poway for the best customer service and sales experience ever!

Toyota of Poway really cares

by Kypris on 06/25/2015

Ken Roberts was especially persistent at helping me find the car I wanted at a price I could afford. He spent over a week texting with me about financing and available vehicles. When I finally arrived at the dealership to purchase my car he was patient, courteous, and genuinely warm and helpful.

Our purchase was easy and painless!

by MissG1 on 06/12/2015

The staff was very helpful and friendly: especially Michael and Vee. We were apprised of all the steps that were occurring and how long we could expect each step to take. They even had lunch during our Memorial Day purchase! We had good follow up to our questions at a later date. We returned to buy items such as custom window shade and dashboard cover; Nikki in parts gave a great service.

Very poor experience at Toyota of Poway

by gazInSD on 04/06/2015

My wife and I visited the Toyota of Poway dealership and were greeted by a nice sales person named, John Grubich. We told him we were interested in seeing a new 2015 Highlander. John was very pleasant and he showed us a number of different models and even accommodated our request to see how well our kid's sports equipment fit into the back of the SUV. We took a car for a test drive and told John that we are comparing this car to some others and would like their best quote. John returned with his sales manager, Hugh Morris. He took the sales quote and broke down each number. He circled and explained that we were getting a substantial discount below MSRP. During my lunch hour the next day, I called the sales rep John and left a message on his cell phone that we were interested in executing the sale on the Toyota Highlander that we negotiated the night before. The sales rep, John called me back promptly and was excited about the sale. He said he was going to go into work and start working on the paper work. About 30-minutes after the call from John, I received a call from the sales manager, Mr. Hough Morris. I thought it was a courtesy call and was going to congratulate on the impending purchase. He asked me if I had the paperwork from last night and said that "he wanted to check on one number". I said sure and read him what he had given as a quote. He then said that "the number is not correct". We should have only received a $1,000 discount and the price we should have been quoted was substantially more. I was shocked. A $1,000 discount below MSRP was laughable and well over invoice price. This was a complete waste of my time and we would have never even considered an offer so high. Mr. Morris then had the gall to ask if we were interested in the "new" price? At no point in this brief conversation did Mr. Morris ever use the words "I'm sorry". He even said that I should have known that this discount was too much because it was too good of a deal. I was flustered and not sure how to respond, as this call was so totally unexpected. I was not even angry at this point, just confused and I responded along the lines of that I was in shock that and did not understand how this could happen and that I had a written quote from the dealership. At this point, Mr. Morris quickly muttered something that I could not understand and then HUNG UP ON ME! This was beyond belief. I understand that mistakes are made, but this call was handled so unbelievably poorly - the whole call lasted no more than 3-minutes. I left a voice mail message for the general manager of the car dealership and also sent a detailed email explaining my experience. I did not receive a call back for 3-days. At this point I was done with Toyota and my wife and I purchased another car from another manufacturer / dealership. 3-4 days after the call with Mr. Morris I received a voice mail and email response from the general manager that he tried to get a hold of me. I responded that we had already purchased another car, but if he wanted to hear about my experience with Mr Morris he could call me back. I explained in my email him that my wife and I have owned 4 previous Toyota car. I have not heard from him since. This dealership DOES NOT CARE - their culture their stinks. We purchased a Prius V from Kearny Mesa 2 years ago and had a good experience. Be warned - I would avoid Poway of Toyota. I would avoid this dealership at all costs. I get that a sales manager can make a mistake on a quote, but this was handled so unbelievably poorly. The sales manager, Mr. Morris, was arrogant and really never apologized for his mistake. Honestly, who hangs up on a customer? More importantly, if you are running a car dealership and your sales manager hangs up on a customer wouldn't you want to hear about their side of the story. It's simple - THEY DON'T CARE.

No hassles. Everyone was very nice and not pushy. They were truly helpful. And when I had a minor problem with one of the tires on the vehicle I purchased, they fixed the problem as quickly as possible.

Time to grow up :(

by nmikmik on 07/08/2013

I don’t write that many reviews, just not much time to do that, but I felt compelled to write this one, because someone reading this may think twice to go here and deservingly so :( I stopped by with my wife first at this dealership (closest to my house), to test drive a Camry Hybrid. A nice older gentlemen greeted us, showed us the car and because we were not a 100% sure if we wanted the Camry at this point, we left. He emailed me back in a couple of days, so I asked him what would be the payment, cap cost, money factor on a 36mo lease, you know the important stuff when you are comparing cars. Never heard from him back again. At least he was entertaining while we were there :) I guess the old habits die hard, especially if making money or a possibility of “making a killing” is an option. I am not talking about the salesman, I am talking about the dealer. Contacted this dealer through the car pricing service, not Edmunds. The price they gave me was about $900 lower than the lowest of total 4 dealers. I guess I am just as guilty as the rest of them when it comes to greed ( I am sure that what the system is based on) or to save a buck. I was very intrigued, so I started asking the “internet sales manger” pretty much the same questions I was asking the first guy. Guess what, same result, no answer, at least no straightforward answer. More like “When would be good for you to come in?”, c’mon, if I wanted to come in to get beat-up a little I would not be requesting the online quotes :) I can’t say for sure, but I felt that I was directed towards a mouse trap or bait and switch scheme. If the deal was doable why couldn’t they answer few simple questions without having me come to the dealer? So I went to Frank Toyota, drove the car, signed the paperwork and was out of the dealer within an hour. Sometimes you can give a business a second chance, a third chance, but I have tried Poway Toyota a few times, always some kind of a problem. I am done, from now on Frank is my dealer.

Very Good Experience

by tytaran on 02/04/2013

Salesman was courteous and not pushy, a plus. Test drive was fine and I was able to drive all over town. I used a certificate which saved haggling and knew the price was guaranteed ahead of time, which the dealership honored, no question. The finance officer was great....very competent, courteous and efficient, making the whole process go smoothly.

Horrible-misleading and dishonest

by unhappyleasee on 01/17/2013

I have had a number of bad experiences with Toyota Poway. They continually give misleading information and they have given me the run around on offers and deals-bait and switch and generally dishonest. Go to Mossy or Kearny Mesa

horrible experinence

by ocbmw on 06/06/2012

I was in the market for a new car. After visiting Honda dealer across the street, I stop by this dealership. The salesman approached me and asked few routine questions. Then we went to test drive the car. To my surprise, he just let me test drive it for half a mile and then returned to the dealership. Then he presented me with the pricing number, just one figure, monthly payment of $500/month on 60 month financing with $2000 down payment for Camry LE. Unbelievable, the guy was trying to rub me literally. I found them dishonest and rude.

Nothing except the price was good!!

by dbabla on 04/11/2012

We went to Toyota of Poway as this is the closet dealership to our house. They agreed on the price we offered for the car. When we got in to buy the car, the customer service wasn't that great. All they cared about was making the sale and letting us go. No service with a smile. The finance and insurance guy just wanted to zoom by the paperwork without giving my husband a chance to review. Like all dealers they were very pushy on buying extended warranty and other protections. Customer Service experience was not at all impressive. But the price was great!!

horrible experience of my life

by nehl on 07/20/2011

It was the worst experience so far buying a car. I never had an experience like this before. I call them and asked them that my coworker got good deal from you guys four week ago. If you give me the same price i will come. They said yes. I went down there. They insisted me to test drive. I liked the car. I said i will buy it right now. I told them all the quotes i got. And said if they even match what my coworker got it then i will buy it right now. The sales person who was asian said i make you a deal i will give you $366 for 60 months for toyota camry le and it is even $2 less than what my co worker got. He got the sales paper and showed me the number. I was dumb enough not to take picture of that quote from my cell phone. Now deal is finalized. They ran my credit and said that amount is approve and congratulate me. I was sitting down and waiting I talked to sales manager and asked him so it is $366 per month and he said yes. What i read on edmunds was it is pretty tough to get the price you want from Japanese car makers so i was bit puzzled. It was too good to be a deal to accept and even give $2*60 = $120 discount. I asked again and also make sure that mileage on the cars are small enough. He said mileage is only 10. I was waiting for finance guy to process other family and take me in. He called me up and then he start printing bunch of stuff. I started singing each documents. Then there was one document saying that I am denying a GAP insurance. I read in Edmunds that GAP insurance is good to have it. So I asked him that how much will it add to price if i buy the GAP insurance. And he said that he has to calculate it. I said how much more and tell me I will add it up for you by being a MATH wizard myself. I said give me value of my GAP insurance per month and I will add it up in my installment. Then i did calculation in my head and tell him the number and he said that number doesn't match. I had a bad feeling that worst going to happen from now. I asked him what is my installment and he said it is $376 (i.e. even without GAP insurance and without another thing). I nicely asked him that my salesman told me $366. He was trying to beat the $368 price what my co worker got. And then he even give me two dollars discount. He said not I heard it wrong. He ask the other guy who was there. And he agreed to same that i didn't hear it correctly. I said I saw the paper with my naked eyes. Even confirm it three times and now you telling me that I am mistaken ? I ask for my salesman. He come up with different paper this time and shows me it is $376.99 dollars and I told him that i saw the paper saying $366.78 with $ 22006.8 of total. I have photogenic memory I see the numbers and I remember and I said i confirm with all three of you three times. Then their sales manager arrived and said that i am wasting time and making their task difficult and all of a sudden they all become rude. I said i don't mind paying $10 more but if you guys can't be honest and making me like a fool and making me a liar, i don't wanna do business with them. They all were pretty much rude by this point. This is really horrible experience. I got angry and said [violative content deleted]. If you can't meet the pricing you should have said it long time before wasting my and your time. It was pretty much I alone and all them trying to make me feel bad and acting rude. I left the place right away. I was like trash all my signed documents. They said they can't. They have to file it any how. I left the place in anger and feeling of being betrayed and mistreated. So help your self and buy it from carsdirect.com or some other online car delivery company. They give you low quotes even with the charge of $750 of delivery charge. We all have profession and we work really hard to deliver what customer wants. BIg phone carrier company has a right to reject the phone which is exclusively developed for them if they don't like it. Sprint did it lots of time with motorola and nothing you can do. Customer has his rights. People at this dealership are like [violative content deleted] for money all they give you b.s. and treat you bad, if they don't get the money they want. And they get down to the level of crape that they make you liar.

[violative content deleted]

by dubaldo on 09/07/2009

Ok, were do i begin. This is the [violative content deleted] business people I have ever seen. I tried to buy a new car and this is how it went. They gave me a price, i thought that is a good deal. When we signed all the papers and ready to go, the financial guy tried to sell all kinds of add-on packages. Honestly I am not interested in any of those packages. I just want my car, guess what they didn't like that. Now out of nowhere the agreed upon price changed. They were getting mad and almost started yelling at me. They said they don't want my business, all for what , because I rejected all those addons. Wow, what a bad business practice. Please try to avoid this dealer at any cost. Yes initial it might sound like you are going to get a nice price, but you will get screwed later. Why can't they be honest and try to make money on the car itself, not on selling those packages. Bunch of [violative content deleted].

I'll go to PTS again - happily

by dog144 on 01/25/2009

I dealt with twelve dealerships by internet/phone/email. Received quotes from all twelve. PTS ranked #3 lowest of the twelve (#12 was high). Manager Dan P worked very hard to find the configuration auto we were looking for. We worked with PTS for about a month. The configuration we sought was very scarce. In the end PTS could not find the one we wanted, but he worked right up to the day we finally bought at another dealership 140 miles away. I felt very comfortable dealing with PTS. Forthright. No games. All cards face up. I'll go to PTS again for my next auto.

Everything bad about car dealers can be found here

by dgrazda on 04/28/2008

From the first moment you drive up and experience the "shark tank" like feeling of the salesmen waiting out front till the time you spend with the sales manager, you can't help but feel an incredible sense of manipulation. As for trying to get a deal even close to what is in edmunds or found in Orange County....you can essentially forget it. They won't even be close.
